Lachlan POV
“A job really?” She asked. s**t why did he offer her a job. He had one available in the pack house since the lead omega died and it was technically rightfully hers since she was the Luna. The only one who put in for it was Vicky, and he did NOT want to give it to Vicky. Lachlan wasn’t worried about Arianna not being able to hold her own in the pack house. Lachlan was worried she would find out about wolves before he could tell her himself.
“Yes, I’ve been looking for awhile now.”
“Okay, what’s the job?” she said tentatively. s**t what’s the human version of head omega?
“A house keeper, head housekeeper.” Arianna frowned,
“I don’t think I would qualify.” Just as he was about to say she would, Vicky came up,
“Your offering the job to her! I applied!” Arianna looked confused,
“Aren’t you the manager here?” Vicky huffed,
“I own this cafe.” Arianna looked even more confused,
“Then why would you want to be a housekeeper?”
“Cause she thinks I’ll finally sleep with her.” Vicky looked angry while Arianna looked embarrassed.
“Vicky please leave.” Lachlan threw in some of his alpha command so she couldn’t refuse him.
“I’m sorry if you are embarrassed. Why don’t I give you my address and you come out tomorrow and take a look. I’d do it today, but I need some time to work on your offer letter.” Lachlan stood up before she had time to object. “I’ll text you my address.”
Lachlan went home and checked on Aiden. He was happy as could be in pup care. He approached his father,
“Daddy, what are you doing here?” Lachlan bend down to pick him up,
“Just checking in on my pup.” The woman looking over the kids came over,
“He’s doing just fine alpha.” The woman brushed up against him, and he pulled back. Goddess he was tired of these she-wolf coming onto him.
“Well now that I see you are fine I’m going to head to my office for a bit. You okay here buddy?” He asked his son.
“Yes daddy.”
Lachlan headed into the pack house and went to his office to work on the offer letter for his mate.
“Mate is beautiful, we need mate.” His wolf said to him.
“I know Thor, that’s why I’m trying to figure this out.” Lachlan said to his wolf. Thor whined in his head, but ultimately quited down. Lachlan looked up the salary of housekeepers in the area. The pack paid everyone, but it was less than humans as we take out rent. His pack still get a good wage, don’t get him wrong. However, the offer he wanted to present to Arianna had to be good enough so she would jump at the chance to work here. The offer also couldn’t be too high as to be unbelievable.
“Remember the pups,” Thor commented.
“Right, the job has to be flexible so she will be able to accommodate the kids,” Lachlan said to his wolf and himself. Lachlan spent about another hour on the offer, everything had to be perfect.
“Alpha,” Lachlan heard in the mind link.
“Yeah?” He asked distractedly.
“It’s time for the meeting you asked for,” his beta called. s**t, he was so distracted he forgot all about that.
“On my way,” Lachlan said as he got out of his seat and headed toward the meeting room. He quickly opened the door to the room and headed to the podium. He started the meeting with little preamble.
“Hello the Blue Crescent pack, I am sorry for my tardiness. I called this meeting for one reason only. I met my second chance mate.” Lachlan paused as the room erupted into cheers and shouts of congratulations. “Her name is Arianna and she is human.” The congratulations turned into shouts of disapproval.
“Enough!” He roared. Lachlan let out his alpha aura and it made the pack settle down. He hated using his aura on the pack, but he couldn’t let his decisions be questioned. When chaos reigned is what would bring an end to any pack.
“She’s human and soon she will start her role here. She is not to be questioned, or talked down to in anyway. If I find anyone who has been less than welcoming, you will find yourself severely punished.” Lachlan stared at Vicky, and she looked away.
“Alpha does she know of our kind?” His beta Harrison asked.
“No, I will be introducing her to us slowly, you may address me as Mr. Anderson in her presence from here on out. If I have given you permission to call me Lachlan you may still do so.” In a werewolf pack title is everything, if you don’t address an alpha werewolf with the alpha prefix it is a sign of disrespect. There have been challenges to the death over the disrespect.
“That is the only thing I had for the meeting, meeting adjourned,” Lachlan walked out of the meeting ignoring all calls for his attention. He had to put his son to bed, and wasn’t going to miss it for petty complaints.
Arianna POV
Arianna was following her GPS on her phone.
“This can’t be right,” she muttered, she was all the way out in the middle of nowhere in the mountains. She cleared her maps and checked into her texts.
Lachlan: are u almost here?
Me: I’m not sure, are u sure u gave me the right address?
Lachlan: yes just follow ur gps and you’ll find us.
Arianna put down her phone and let out a sigh. Her phone told her to take a left at the next stop sign. The stop sign came up, and she turned left. She continued to follow the directions, until she turned off the main road. Ari was on a long private driveway, it finally led her to multiple buildings. She was even more confused. She looked at her phone again and it told her to keep driving, so she did.
Soon a very large Victorian style house came into view. It was gorgeous, she hadn’t seen anything like it since they left Illinois. Though this one resembled more of a plantation one would see down south. She knew it was where she was supposed to be cause she saw Lachlan talking to a group of men on the porch. Lachlan saw her pull up and and he broke away from the men, and walked to her car. Arianna put her car in park, shut it off, and got out. Lachlan enveloped her in a hug,
“It’s so glad to see you,” Ari was surprised at first but quickly relaxed at his touch. After a long hug, Lachlan pulled away,
“Well come on let’s give you the tour.” Lachlan pulled Arianna by the hand, and led her into the house. Lachlan fist led her to a very large kitchen.
“Obviously this is the kitchen, we provide three meals a day for those who decide to come and eat at the house.”
“How many eat here?” Ari asked completely lost.
“Well there aren’t as many here eating as they used to since Fran retired. But I would say fifty in the mornings, and thirty for lunch and dinner.”
“Fifty people?! What are you a cult?” Lachlan laughed,
“No of course not,”
“Then why do so many people eat here?” Ari asked still not understanding.
“They cant afford it otherwise,” Lachlan whispered. Ari nodded understanding,
“We’ve all been there, so why does Fran retiring have anything to do with attendance?”
“Oh the food hasn’t been the best since she left. Not for the lack of trying. What about you? Are you a good cook?” Arianna smiled,
“I guess it depends on your definition of good, I do my best that’s for sure.” She responded and Lachlan laughed,
“Okay, well how about you come up to my office, and look over the offer.”
Arianna found herself looking over the job of a lifetime. At least for a mom of kids. The pay was more than enough to get by and to put money away. The job didn’t have set hours, just a minimum number of hours to be met by the end of the week. She could work overtime if she wanted it, but it wasn’t necessary. She could also bring the kids to work if she was in a bind. She finished reading the job offer and only had one question.
“Where do I sign?”
