The Game

(Lisanna) After that friendly fight, I suppose, I comfortably sat on the couch as I grabbed myself a glass of drink. I do not know what was in here, but I think this is some kind of a light alcohol served in a high class arcade place. Now I know why Brett told me earlier that I still do not know this place, and maybe this is the first step of me enjoying my new journey here at the countryside. I sipped a little bit of that drink and I find interesting at first, I have not yet tried anything like this before. It is more like of a sweetened alcohol but you can still taste the kick of that bitter aftertaste. “Still new to that kind of a drink?” I heard someone asked to me and when I looked towards that direction, I saw Lyx standing right in front of me while leaning on the edge of the billiards table they were playing at. “I cannot say that I was new to alcohol, but I guess this certain one is my first time.” I answered as I started circling the glass with my fingers, letting the drink flows and mix together on its own. “Is that so? Then, are you one of the gangs too back at the city?” he added as I stared on him for a while. “Are you checking me out?” I asked in disbelief that he quickly scoffed for a respond. “Do not be so full of yourself. I was just noticing your little habits.” He plainly answered as I nodded in return. I did not say any word as I finished drinking the drink I was holding. “I did not know that we do have a guest. Are you new here, lady?” an unfamiliar man entered with a huge grin on his face. I thought that Asley guy would only have the ability to do something like that, well, I guess that runs in the blood of the people living here in this place. “She is not one of those girls , Luke.” I heard Asley seriously answered as I looked at them with huge curiosity in mind. “Why do you always have to mention that I am not ‘one’ of those girls? Are you bringing girls in this place?” I exclaimed as I heard that Luke guy started to laugh little by little until it became a huge one. “You are an interesting one. I am Luke, by the way.” He said as he extended his hand towards me. “I am Lisanna, your new member I guess.” I answered as I accepted that extension of his hand. “No one can enter this group that easily, lady.” He said to me as I smirked. “Well, I do not expect to be that way, gentleman.” I answered and he started at me for a moment and smirked. “Do you want to be my girlfriend?” that caught me off guard as he plainly said those words to me. “Luke! Are you out of your mind?!” Asley exclaimed at him and Luke looked back the moment that I removed my hand on his. “What? Is there something wrong with that? I mean, is she already taken?” he innocently asked as he looked on every man in this room. Of course no one could ever answer as I have not yet told them anything about my relationship. “I am not, would that be enough?” I plainly answered as I saw all of them looked at me with those widened eyes and Luke smiled as he grabbed my hand. “That was such a straightforward one. When do you want to start?” he asked like it was just some game that he was offering for me to play with him. “Just when you are ready.” I answered and smirked. And that was how my first day in Aquadale went by. I played some games with these unknown guys, and I suddenly got a boyfriend. What a change of events I do have here. But for the record, I cannot deny that I am currently enjoying everything. I feels like I already got myself adjusted to this place and I am now ready to start my new life without looking back in my past. “You do not have to follow his words, He is a crackhead and he do not know what he was doing.” Brett whispered to me as I noticed that he was trying to save me from this mess. “Do not ever worry, I am a crackhead too.” I answered as he plainly stared and let out a deep sigh without answering back on me. “Where do you live?” Luke asked to me as I looked on his direction. “I just moved at my grandfather’s house, beside Brett’s.” I answered and they all looked at me with that surprised look once again. “She is a King.” Brett added like it was a huge discovery for him. “And that make it sense. You are a King.” Luke said as I look on each of their faces. “Why do you all looked like that? You are acting like you know pops or something.” I tried to joke it around but I guess, it was not some kind of a joke I could just laugh about. “You just drove yourself in a mess, Luke.” Lyx said to him as he patted his shoulder with his huge concern on him. “What? I know that I am a mess, but I am not that real kind of a mess. Well, if you know what I mean.” I exclaimed as I finally looked on Asley, he is not uttering any kind of word. “The other gang has already arrived.” I heard another guy said, and I think that was Ashford. “What is this kind of situation you were all having here? I could feel that you are now starting to get hopeless.” Another unknown guy showed up and I guess he is that other gang they were all referring to. “Erik, this game was off. We should reschedule this.” Asley said to him as that Erik guy burst out laughing like I could see his tonsils from within. “You are such a laughable one. How dare you calling off a game that you are the one who brought it up? Do not tell me that you are indeed scared of losing that streak of yours?” he exclaimed with his most arrogant voice as he started walking towards Asley’s direction and provoking him for a fight. “That is not what is happening here.” Asley calmly answered as Erik scoffed. “But from what I can see, that was indeed that one happening here.” He answered as his gazes finally landed at me. “Oh, we do have a newbie here?” he asked as he was about to walk towards me when everyone stood up in front of me like I was some kind of a princess and they were all my guards protecting me up.. And when I say ‘everyone’, I am talking about Brett, Lyx, Luke, Asley, Ashford and even Leigh who was just sitting at the corner earlier. “Whoa, I suddenly became competitive to know that woman over there.” Erik said as all of them were still standing in front of me. “Save your breath, Erik. You cannot go near her.” Luke firmly said as Erik finally gave in and nodded satisfactorily. “Alright, hands off. Just let me be clear with this, you were the one calling of this game off and not me. If ever I do hear some rumors circling around and telling lies, just so you know that I will touch that woman first before anything else.” He continuously said as he finally started to walk away, in which his gang followed him in a second. “Uhh, can I ask what in the hell is going on here?” I carefully said the moment I saw the whole gang finally left the place. “We are not that jerks like you were thinking of.” Brett answered as they one by one leaving their spot and going to different directions like some guards spreading around after removing a threat. “Alright? That is something that I did not expect to happen in here.” I commented but they all just became silent and started playing around like nothing happened. Am I obliged to know something or should I just take this as nothing personal? The whole day ended as I saw the outside becoming gray little by little. Maybe it is just because today is a weekend that they were not going home to their respective places like they do not have any family to stay with. They just ordered some food, played games, even passed some drinks, literally doing nothing for the whole day. And, did I already mention that I am the only woman in this place? “Do you now want to go home?” Brett approached me and asked that. “What? I am okay, why did you asked?” he asked and he carefully peeked on everyone else. “They were all wondering if you will spend the night here.” He answered as I laughs softly. “My goodness, of course not. I will go home but just in a bit.” I answered as I heard Luke out down his glass on the table loudly and stood up while facing towards me. “Let me walk you back home.” He offered and that was such an another level of being unfamiliar. “That is not the personality I came up with yours.” I answered and he clears his throat and slowly sitting back down. “Let me do it, she is my neighbor after all.” Brett intervened as I saw that no one has ever any comments over that offer. “Come on.” He plainly said as he put down his glass and stood up. He started walking away without looking back so I do have any other chance but to follow him out of the arcade place. The two of us were walking in the middle of the dark road, silent and awkward. I could not feel the strange and different kind of breeze that a countryside have compared to the city. It is much fresh and colder, I had goosebumps that I quickly rubbed my hands on my arms for warm myself up. I was surprised when I saw that Brett put his cardigan on my shoulders as he plainly walked ahead with his hands behind him. “Where is that arrogant and stubborn Brett that I met earlier this day?” I broke the silence when I asked him that. “He was there until you told him that you are a King.” He plainly answered without looking back. “You are spouting nonsense. Of course I am a King, and that is because that is my surname, How could I not be?” I exclaimed while laughing, because it is still sounded too weird for me to get treated differently just because of my surname. “You are not just because you are a ‘King’, but because your family holds a different reputation in this place. As how your surname means, your family once ruled this place.” He answered as I stopped walking, staring on his back when he felt that I was not following him anymore. “What do you mean by that?” I asked in surprised and he let out a deep sigh. “These things should not be coming from me, a person that is not belong to your family. But, you should just know that in this place, we do have elites. And those families included to that circle are the ones you saw inside that arcade place.” He continuously said and when he got to finished his words, I cannot say anything back to him. I felt like my throat became parched as my lips stopped moving without knowing that kind of words to say. “Welcome to Aquadale, Lisanna.” He added as a smile flashed on his face. He started walking once again as I found myself staring at the dark skies with silent thunders from a distance.
