I: Wolf Against Wolves
The wind blows in directions we do not expect. It was difficult to determine where it would take us. Edith knew a very long time ago that she should not follow the wind, yet she enjoyed watching it go by.
Another cold night, she thought as she watched the blackness of the forest.
In her hands, a hot cup of coffee acclimated her skin that was exposed to the cold winter air.
For anyone, the image of the dark forest would arouse justified fears, but not for Edith. She had seen death in the face, and that did not cause her concern.
The pages of her book turned as she devoured another story about adventures that were not her destiny to enjoy. After her curse of loneliness would be her sole companion. She had already accepted and made peace with that idea.
At that moment, a howl pierced in the blackness. It was a howl of anguish pain.
She frowned before Edith raised her face towards the direction where the howl came from, and she was unimpressed.
The things that terrified that forest was not a threat to her. More than once, Edith had witnessed the monsters that devoured the nightmares of other humans.
From the darkness, a black figure became visible. It was a wolf much larger than a normal human would understand but a common creature in Edith’s eyes.
It was a terrifying beast that was as black as night itself with a leafy fur. Its wolf eyes looked in her direction, and for a moment, Edith was not sure if she just saw things.
Cause for a moment, the gaze of the black grew soft, like a look longingly towards her.
Huh? Am I reading too many human books recently? She questioned herself as the idea was utterly stupid. Why would a wolf do that? Perhaps asking for help?
If that was the case, then that would really be amusing. Cause Supernaturals knew the rules, and they knew that it was never easy to recover from the punishment.
Edith looked again and noticed that it was still looking at her from the edge of the trees at the back of her house when suddenly a grimace of pain appeared in his eyes.
The wolf jerked on the ground, and Edith finally saw what caused the black wolf’s pain.
Two wolves were attacking the first, both of them writhing on the ground like a skirmish between animals while spinning them all separated, and their human forms appeared instantly.
In front of Edith, three men faced each other in the distance, completely naked, which made her eyes bright with interest.
Well, I don’t mind the show. Too bad it’s too dark… she thought to herself. She then left put down the book beside her before she took her coffee and calmly paid attention to the fight.
“Lirth, are you in this too?”
She heard someone speak loudly. It was most likely the black wolf who asked. His human form has brown skin that still shone in the winter weather.
The other two closed space as if to cut off the retreat, and he leaned in, showing his teeth to prepare for the impending combat.
How odd, wolves against wolves? Edith was curious, as she thought that these fights were usually more common between different creatures of the night.
In that forest in the east, the wolves reigned, withering packs like men capable of transforming their bodies into giant wolves or humanoid figures full of hair and claws that starred in the darkest terrors of the inhabitants of the human world.
While to the west, vampires reigned, dark demons capable of savoring your soul by bleeding you completely. These tribes were always in conflict in perennial warfare. Still, it was unusual to see members of the same tribe engaging in conflict. After all, the environment inside the forest was not never best for loners.
Edith couldn’t help but notice that the human black wolf had appeared first, and she had never seen him before.
When she looked at his back, she noticed a curious star-shaped mark on his right shoulder and a large three-clawed scar on his back.
More likely, after this night, the black wolf would die with even more claw marks on his body. It would not even turn into a scar.
Well, it doesn’t really matter. I’ll be the one who has to clean it up! Edith silently complained as she stood up. She took another sip of her cup of coffee and watched as the two wolves attacked at the same time.
One wolf instantly transformed and, with his claws, attacked the black wolf straight at the face. Without transforming, he rolled onto his back, dodging the attack and running towards the grove without showing any intention of changing into his wolf form.
The second attacked with more intensity. As he ran, his skin fell apart, giving way to a torso full of hair and sharp claws that tried to catch the fugitive wolf.
This, still without transforming, stopped his attack by taking both claws with his human hands and showing great strength stopped the attack.
“Joshua! Do not resist!” The other wolf said as it pounced towards Joshua with ill intent.
Joshua, who on his face kept an expression of sadness, decided to respond to the attacks, jumping from where he was and without releasing the arms of his first attacker, he put his feet on his attacker’s shoulders and transformed into a huge black werewolf ripped out this man’s arms by the roots.
From that point, he jumped on the other, who, transformed into a werewolf, tried to cut Joshua with his claws only to find how he dodged the attacks and managed to dominate him by taking his head with his huge claw.
From that position, Joshua said, “Don’t make me hurt you, Lirth!”
But three more enemies appeared with speed. Two of them pounced on Joshua and, rolling on the ground with roaring bites and attacks, managed to separate them from Lirht.
Joshua got up and looked at a huge white wolf walking in his direction. When he turned into a man, his long golden hair fell to the edge of his back as he said, “I’m sorry, Joshua, but that’s the way it should be.”
And giving an order, all the wolves attacked him at the same time. Joshua defended himself with strength, but wounded as he was, he could barely eliminate two of his enemies. At the same time, the white wolf who served as a leader took a strong bite on Joshua’s neck, making him fall kneeling to the floor covered in blood.
Transforming both into their human form Joshua kneeling on the cold ground and with a bleeding wound on his neck, watched with hatred as the White Wolf embedded a dagger with a silver mage in his stomach.
A shame! Edith thought she finished her coffee while her eyes sadly watched how Joshua, the black wolf, fell on the freezing cold with a mortal wound.
