LXXVI: Wrong Target?

Just as Dominic said that he attacked without rest, the hammers passed close to him, and he tried very hard to evade them.

This man is on a roll! Nate could not help but think when he saw how Dominic used his hammer. Sadly he was the target!

Nate fell back as best he could, but the attack was incessant. In a quick movement, Dominic brought his legs closer, and shaking the hammer with force, he hit him and raised him off the floor, causing him to crash into the tables of an open-air restaurant.

Nate was breathing hard and waiting for a hunter to show up, something to divert Dominic’s attention, and if things continued that way, he would surely end up dying. Dominic took a pronounced jump and fell on the table, and he said, “You know something interesting... I’m not supposed to attack you ... but as long as Stella doesn’t know, nothing happens!”

Nate got up and calmly said, “Why are you doing this? I thought you and Edith’s sister were allies...”

Dominic saw him, and with a smile, said, “She blocked my powers, sealed them all, and you want me to treat her as an ally…? She knows that I need them. She knows what is coming, and yet, she keeps them sealed! That is why I am going to assassinate her. If I kill her, my powers will be freed.”

Nate looked to the side, and entering the shadow of a table, he left behind a car and began to run, Dominic without waiting a second raised the spear, and preparing to throw it in the direction of Nate, he saw how the last layer of the barrier fell.

People began to scream and run in all directions, and Nate, looking at Dominic, expected that he would try to kill him without qualms.

When Dominic saw the humans, a strong breath left his face as he said, “You’re a lucky guy... You can run. I have something to do.”

Nate looked at Dominic. It was as if the humans were an impediment for him, and jumping, and he went away. Nate fell on the sidewalk.

His fatigue was noticeable, the barrier had disappeared, and the humans were alive.

Everything seemed in order when he calmly watched as Joshua approached in the distance.

“Nate! I knew I had felt your scent. Where is Edith?”

Nate looked at him and, raising his hand, pointed towards the central tower. Edith had decided to go with Seraphim to meet Stella.

Joshua helped Nate to his feet, and the three of them started running towards the tower. Joshua looked at Nate and did not understand why he was so beaten up, it was hard to imagine who could leave Nate in that state, yet with all the types of Hunters he had seen outside, it was clear that many powerful people were around.

The image of the Hunter who had captured him immediately flew to his mind and taking a deep breath, and he decided to accelerate. As they ran, they saw how the humans returned.

Whatever that barrier was, it had managed to keep normal humans out of the situation, and that was an advantage.

However, the impact of disappearing and then returning at another time of day with a highly destroyed city would be quite difficult for them.

In the central tower, everything was in pieces, and as they climbed the stairs, Joshua could feel the deep scent of Edith.

While they climbed, Joshua could see the remains of the battle in the building, and it was clear that the hunters had tried to reach that place.

When they arrived at the top, they saw the three witches, and just seeing Edith, he pounced on her.

Edith, when she saw him, felt incredibly surprised, and kissing him, asked, “What are you doing here?”

Joshua looked around her and said, “Eleonor told me about the problem you had. We had to come to help, but it was difficult with the barrier around the city!”

Stella, who was holding the wound on her arm with her hand, asked, “Did you remove the barrier?”

Erika moving forward, shook her head as she said, “No! We remove only one point... after that, it seems to have collapsed.”

They all looked at each other, and Stella, nodding, said, “Yes, a spell of that magnitude needs all the support points, or it won’t be able to work. Good job!”

Joshua looked at her, and Edith moving forward, asked, “How did they know where you were?”

Stella saw him, and with a look of obviousness, she said, “The same way they knew how to break your barrier or how to eliminate our magic. They are being helped by the damned murderer of our sister!”

Edith saw her and Nate, calmly but hurriedly said, “Sorry. I know you have things to discuss, but that guy, the one who helped us, said that he was going to kill you.”

Stella looked at Nate and smiled, and she said, “Yes, he’s probably going to try, but that doesn’t matter… I don’t think he’s that stupid to do it now!”

Edith looked at Stella and moving forward, and she said, “What do you know about the guy who cornered us?”
