Playing With Fire

Chapter 6

Half a mile in and we haven't heard anything, not even signs of wildlife. I started feeling uneasy and I think Yadira noticed so she started drilling me with questions. "So are you excited to meet him again?"

"Nope"

"Do you know that there are rumors that he can make people burst into flames." She continued.

"I'm betting on it." I smiled back at her which made her narrow her eyes at me.

"You're hiding something, aren't you?" I was facing forward when she asked. I stopped suddenly and turned to Jax, he nodded meaning he heard it too.

"Whats going on?" Yadira questioned before Jax mind linked her something. She was quiet after that and I started listening deeper. They were coming from the west of us, I could hear about 5 sets of paws. They're in wolf form. I looked to Jax and he nodded once again. 

"Take her and head back to the car." I said while taking off my jacket.

"I'm your Beta now Skai, I wont leave you. We fight together." He let go of Yadira's hand and kissed her cheek before stripping and looking at me. "I'll shift, you explain." I nodded and stood in Front of Yadira as Jax shifted and stood to the side of her. He was a huge wolf, almost my size and the color grey of Yadiras eyes. They were matched perfectly. 

I focused and listened carefully, hearing the get closer and then seeing them emerging from the trees. There were only 4 though, I could've sworn I heard 5. I side eyed Jax who understood and looked around the men and the surrounding area before coming up blank. Dammit.

The man in front shifted and stalked closer. He was tall with red hair and blue eyes and those mucles were to die for, ugh. Definitely packing too. I looked over to Jax and then back to the man as he started speaking.

"What do you think you're doing on our land, Rouges?"

"We're not rouges, we came to speak with your Alpha." I spoke while positioning myself directly in front of Yadira. I seen one of the other wolves eyeing her from behind the man. 

"You think you can just walk into our land and request an audience with the Alpha?" The man laughed before spitting my way. The wolf that was eyeing Yadira was walking closer. I looked to Jax who growled and then stalked in front of her as I moved to the side.

"We are not Rouges, tell your men to back down." I calmly said while eyeing the wolf getting closer.

"They're from Alpha Tates pack," He looked over to Jax and Yadira and back to me  " why should we let you live?"

"Not anymore, we left. We're just seeking refuge." Yadira said from behind Jax.

"HA, like we would believe a word from any of that packs members mouths." At this point the other wolf was standing beside the man. I could tell they were mind linking something I turned to Jax and mouthed 'run' before turning back to the wolf who suddenly started running towards us, but aiming for Yadira. Jax lunged for the wolf and bit down on his leg before another wolf started running towards us. I had enough I stood in front of Jax and muster up the courage before yelling. 

"ENOUGH" That made everyone stop and stare at me. I turned to Jax and the other wolf "SHIFT" they both shifted and Jax turned to check on Yadira. I looked towards her and she looked back with wide eyes. 

"Skai, your eyes. They're glowing blue.." she looked to Jax before he said "Skai, the waves in your eyes.. its like I'm looking right into the ocean." I turned back to the man who gasped. "TAKE ME TO YOUR ALPHA, NOW!" I demanded. Before any of them could answer I smelled him. I knew he was here but where. I started searching around us before I spotted his eyes. Those beautiful brown eyes with the flames dancing in them. I felt like the air left my lungs when he emerged. It was different than seeing him the first time because he wasn't close enough to smell to know he was my mate. Now that I know its like noticing him for the first time. He was wonderful. Akira was wagging her tail in excitement in my head.

"Men stand down, that's no way to treat your Luna now is it?" He said as he walked closer to me. I glanced at the men behind him and the all bowed in respect. Once he was directly in front of me he stopped and just stared. "You're beautiful, little mate." He reached his hand out and placed his palm on my cheek. It felt like fireworks were coming from his hand and sent tingles down my body. I knew I was getting aroused from it because he smirked. I slapped his hand away and he looked taken back.

"Don't touch me, I'm not here to be your Luna or your mate, Hakan. I'm here for revenge and that only."

He grabbed me by the throat and pushed me back into the tree, earning a growl from Jax. I smiled over to him before looking at Hakan and winking. "I play dirty, clearly you don't think choking me into submission would work did you?" He looked confused and amused at the same time. I looked over to Jax who was still growling and said "Don't worry Jax, you choked harder." Which made Hakan drop his hand and looked over to Jax who was clearly amused. I took that opportunity to slide past him and stand in front of Jax.

"Now before you hurt my Beta and his Mate, we need to talk. We're not here to attack, we're here because Tate killed my Betas sister without reason and I'm seeking protection for him and his family." I managed to place my hand over Yadira's stomach to indicate that she was pregnant and not to harm her. 

"This is his mate?" He asked pointing to Yadira, clearly confused. I nodded and then looked over to Jax.

"Yes this is Yadira, I just ask you take them into your pack and provide protection from Alpha Tate. Once that's done I'll be on my way." Jax looked at me like he was pissed but he knew that was my plan all along, I've told him before I don't want a mate. I play for both teams and I can't imagine being held down by a guy who is already so possessive over someone he just met. Plus he doesn't seem like my type in bed, I like to switch the dom roles around and I can't imagine he'd be down for a finger in his ass.  Damn thinking about that with him is kind of hot. I heard someone clear their throat and looked to Jax who looked like he wanted to laugh. f**k, I spaced out and he can smell my arousal now. Great. I looked over to Hakan who also seemed amused.

"What?" I asked "Just because I want to f**k you right now doesn't mean s**t, I've got a lot of built up s****l tension and haven't had any since.. hey Jax what was that one guys name again? Oh yeah Kyle. He was good, not rough enough but its been about 7 months and I'd pretty much f**k anything at this point." I finished and looked around Hakan to the men behind him before giving them a smile and wink earning myself a pissed off mate who growled. 

"Take the Beta and his mate to the pack house and give them a room." He hissed through gritted teeth before looking at me, his eyes flicking black indicating his wolf was trying to take over. Come on wolfy come and play. This should be fun..
