The Prophecy

Chapter 4 Someone Special

     In the corn field all new comers were paired with a seasoned harvester.( obviously that means someone who knows how to properly pick the vegetables without damaging them to much.) Markus was paired with a beautiful young women named Ruby. 

     Ruby is tall for a women standing at five foot nine inches. She is very skinny with long auburn hair pulled back into a braid that reached her lower back. She has the most dazzling emerald green eyes. She has a light dusting of freckles on her face. And surprisingly she has a great full body tan. You can tell it's natural not from a can.

    All of this Markus saw in the first five seconds of Ruby introducing herself. He smiled and shook her hand. He pointed to the corn and said,"please lead the way. This is my first corn field I am completely at your mercy."

     Ruby smiled and took Markus into the corn. They went ten feet into the row and Ruby spent the next few hours showing him how to pick the corn. How to tell the diffrence between the corn you can eat and the corn they planned to use for growing the next year. And how to tell the diffrence between the good, healthy corn from the bad, rotten corn without wasting your time picking it.

     On the way out of the field Markus was wrestling with an issue. He did not want to let Ruby leave. He enjoyed her company. He thought she was smart. He didn't want to leave her side. Just as she reached her car Markus blurted out." Do you eat, um I mean do you want to eat? Oh gods I am so sorry. I mean to say do you want to have dinner with me?" Ruby looked at him and said," Only if I can pick the place?" With a smile and a nod he said," It would be my honor. Where ever you wish to go I will follow.." Ruby laughted at him and said." Get in I know the perfect place."

     Ruby took them to a beautiflu little steak house that was only two blocks from his house. It had a very rustic look to it on the outside but when you entered it was absolutely beautiful.

     They sat by the window over looking the ocean. As they ate their steak dinners they watched the waves roll up the beach. They even saw a few whales in the distance. They talked about many subjects as they watched nature. Markus was very surprised by how easy it was to talk to Ruby.

     After they were done with dinner and could find no other reason to linger Ruby took Markus back to his house. They sat in the car for a few minutes. Neither person seemed ready to end the night. But after a few minutes Markus decided it was time to go. He opened the door said good night and hurried to his house.
