CHAPTER FIVE

Hussaina looked at Zara and asked her what she did to Cynthia, Zara was oblivious of what she was asked and just nod her head signalling " Nothing". Then why did she give this punishment journey never ends? Zara was confused and kept mute because she didn't know she has been under punishment going from one hostel to another to collect an imaginary book that never existed. Then hussaina asked Zara few questions about herself. " what's your name? my name is Zara. Are u a new student?

" yes"

okay let me explain some rules of a boarding school for you so that you wont be punished like this next time, is that okay?

yes senior Hussaina.

Good! first of all, the junior students from jss1 to jss3 addressed the students in ss1 to 3 as senior. then secondly you must respect and obey the senior ones, you will be sent on errands by them and you don't have the right to say NO. there are many more but for now you looked tired so go back to your hostel and apologize to Cynthia for being rude to her and also tell her that I said your journey has ended.

Thank you senior Hussaina, Zara said and hurried back to her hostel to apologize to Cynthia.

On a Monday morning, zara was still on bed sleeping while other junior students are running around for there daily Monday morning routine. Her room head Cynthia hit her hard on her lap and Zara jumped up from her sleep due to the stinging pain she felt on the lap, she looked up and saw Cynthia giving her a scornful look that says get out of that bed and get ready for school!

she lazily moved out of her small blanket still sleeping while sitting, Cynthia started counting for her to get up.." Zara or what's that your name again? move out of that bed at the count of five, shebi you dey hear me so abi" Cynthia said in pigin, and she started counting from 5,4,3,2..2 Zara!! get up as Cynthia raised her half sleeping while muttering " which kind pikin be dis one na" Cynthia fetched a cup of water and splashed it on Zara's face, Zara's eyes became wild open as tears gathered on her face and they suddenly started falling off her face slowly as she tries not to cry and wipe them off and started preparing for her bath. few minutes later she got her water ready and put her sponge case on top of the water, she uses the sponge case cover to fetch water from the bucket and pour onto her body as she doesn't have cup to use or bowl, she finished taking her bath and went to her cupboard to get her uniform and cosmetic to get herself ready,she decided to hide her sponge case and bucket first as she roam the room in her small towel. she looked inside the bucket but found only the sponge case and the cover was gone! she searched all over the room for it but couldn't find it and she was definitely sure she brought everything inside the room. Zara started asking her roommate for it then suddenly someone came in with it in her hand, Zara got angry and asked the girl who is obviously far older than her in age and class " hey! why did you take my stuff without my permission? are you a thief? don't try that again next time, she warned the girl who took her sponge case cover as Zara forcefully took it out of the senior's hand to cover her sponge case as she put it in her locker to lock it with padlock.everyone was scared for her because she was being rude to a senior just now, but the senior girl whose name is habiba find Zara's act cute and courageous so called her bunkmate who was of same age and class with Zara and told her to keep guiding Zara on boarding school rules, the girl nodded and went straight to Zara. " hi! my name is nafisa, let be friends" Zara looked at the girl and walked out on her as she picked her bag and headed towards the assembly ground where the new student orientation will take place and other announcement by the school management.

Her first subject in the school was business studies and Zara did so well in sleeping throughout the periods. she refused to make new friends and refused to associate with her fellow classmates,she did not go out to play or eat during the break period as she doesn't eat much. just after the thirty minutes break, when the students where rushing back to classes a boy mistakenly pushed Zara's desk and she fell from her rubber sit, she stood up to check her new plain white gown and trouser and she saw it dirty because of the fall, her face immediately frown and anger took control of her as she dashed towards the boy and pushed him on the wall and started beating him without stopping,nafisa joined Zara in beating the boy instead of separating them. Zara was surprised by the girls act as Zara stopped beating the boy and asked the girl why she is beating the boy.nafisa smiled and replied by saying we are friends I can't watch you fight without defending you. friends cry together,fight together, and laugh together isn't it? Zara was mute before telling her that " but I did not accept your friendship this morning so why are you trying to be my friend. nafisa smiled and said I will keep trying. Zara smiled and brought out biscuits from her bag as they share and laugh together. they became more than friends but sisters throughout there stay in school. they were both stubborn and smart,they trick there senior's and mates and became so popular in school due to there stubborn nature, and smartness.

They became well known in school and within there own families as they became more than friends but sisters. They refused to allow a third party into their friendship as they avoid anything that will come between them because they grew fond of each other and loved themselves. They are the most funniest kids among there mate and easily make people laugh, they were loved and hated by some people. they gang up to beat any of there mate that messed up with them and also have a way of punishing there senior's who bullied and punish them unnecessarily, there was a time a senior kept asking them to fill all her buckets with water every morning and evening and the senior used the water to bath with her bunkmates,then Zara and nafisa decided to deal with her and end there suffering because there hostel to the tap is very far and they have to fetch Seven to ten buckets of water for that senior, so they planned to put a leave that itches the skin inside the water, they went all the way to the back of the school which is all bushy and cut the leaves as they both covered their hands and feet with black nylon to avoid messing up there own skin to, they sat along the classroom way and used stone to pound the dry leaves and it makes it smooth and brown like sand as they sprinkle it inside the water, it did not show in the water that much,the water looks clear and clean and they carried the bucket of water on their heads and headed to there hostel to give the senior her water. immediately they submitted the water to her they left the hostel only to come back at night.
