Chapter 11

After Fury and I had a talk, he decided to stop trying to control me, knowing I would rebel even more. I leaned into Thor's side, still feeling a little weak, but it helped being close to him. We were listening to Fury interrogate Loki. Thor and I weren't listening. We were both in our own minds. I heard nothing but silence, knowing that Fury had ended the interrogation. "He really grows on you, doesn't he?" Banner asked. I turned my head to look at the man. "Loki's gonna drag this out. So, Thor, what's his play?" Steve asked. Thinking Thor would know the most about Loki. Thor, still not really listening. I nudged him, making him come too. He looked at me before looking at Steve to answer him. "He has an army called the Chitauri. They're not of Asgard or any world known. He means to lead them against your people," Thor said, not finishing. I rolled my eyes and looked at them. "They will win him the earth. In return, we suspect, for the Tesseract. That's why I called Thor here. Hoping that he could talk some sense into him before he put his plan in action." I finished telling them, Thor nodded, agreeing with me. "An army? From outer space?" Steve asked seriously. I knew he was having a hard time accepting all of this. "So he's building another portal. That's what he needs Erik Selvig for," Banner commented. I closed my eyes. Forgetting that I hadn't told Thor that Loki took Selvig. "Selvig? Thor asked before looking down at me. "He's an astrophysicist," Banner said, thinking Thor didn't know him. "He's a friend." Thor said, still looking at me. I finally opened my eyes to look at my brother. "He took Papa Clint too." I told him. Thor's gaze softened. He nodded, knowing my relationship with Clint. "Loki is using the scepter to somehow keep their minds under his control." I told him, not wanting him to think I was keeping things from him. He nodded and looked at my staff that I still had. As if something crossed his mind, he smiled. "We need to speak to mother. Can you take us to Asgard?" Thor asked. I looked at him confused at the sudden change. "I don't feel like pissing the King of Asgard off. Besides, I'm not at full strength. Here, use my staff, you can communicate with Heimdall and he can give the message to her." I said while handing my now glowing staff to Thor, as I went and sat beside Natty. Thor looked at the staff, then at me, shaking his head. "No, Sister, you need to speak to mother. I can speak to mother anytime. Mother will be able to tell you how to get the information you wish from Loki." Thor tried again, while bringing my staff over to me and handing it back to me. I sighed but didn't take the staff, instead I closed my eyes and called my Grimore to me. It landed with a thud on the table. I felt every agent and everyone sitting around me jump. I sighed and opened my eyes. I looked down at the book, it opened and flipped through the pages until it landed on what I wanted. Thor watched me ever so slightly. I knew Tony, Fury, Hill and Coulson had joined us. "Fury is my lab ready?" I asked, without looking at him, while picking the book up and reading through the ingredients I was going to need. "Yes, it's ready. It is in the holding cell you made us build for you. Next to the one that Loki is in," Fury told me. I nodded and started walking. My staff flew from Thor's hand and floated next to me as I walked while looking through the book. I ignored the looks of fear that was thrown my way. I was used to them at that point. "She has come a long way from making magical bombs." I heard Natasha whisper to herself. I rolled my eyes, shut the book and sent it back to my room at Barton's house. I decided to keep my most important things at his house. I turned and looked at Natasha. "The bombs I made wasn't simple, Natty. That was actually like level ten in magic. I could always do simple tricks, but once I got the Grimore on my eightteenth birthday, I started learning more advanced magic. Thor, I need something of Loki's. Seeing as how you have a lock of his black hair braided into your own. That should do." I said before turning around and walking to the holding cell. Leaving everyone questioning as to what bombs and why Natty and I needed them. Fury knew the details no one else did though. Once in my lab, I shut the door, locking myself in. Thor walked into the room and looked at me. I was busy mixing everything I needed. Thor cut a little bit of Loki's hair from his own and held his hand out. Purple mist covered his hand and transported the hair into my lab and into my potion. He sat and watched me. "What are you doing?" He asked once I added my last ingredient and was stirring the potion. Before I answered him, I watched as the potion went from a sickly green to a bright blue. I smirked and placed the potion into a small bottle before opening the door and stepping out. "Once I drink this I will have an instant connection to Loki's mind," I said to him. He looked at me worried. "I do not think that is a good idea," Thor worried. I smiled and looked at him. "Do not worry, Thor, the connection is only temporary." I lied. He nodded and relaxed just a little. I knew I had just lied to him. It would be a permanent connection. I would always have access to his mind. But Thor could not know that. I knew why he worried about the connection. Loki wasn't someone to take lightly. But I knew this had to be done. It was the only way I could think of in order to get the information I needed. "Are you sure you want to do that?" Thor asked me as we entered the briefing room. "I'll be fine. Like I told you last year. Earth is my home and I will do anything to protect it." I reminded him. He sighed but nodded. I opened the bottle and dumped the potion into my mouth, swallowing the nasty tasting potion. Natty laughed at the face I made. "Was it not good?" She teased. "You try drinking a mind reading potion, see if it tastes good." I said to her. "No thanks, from the potions I've seen you make and take. They all seem pretty bad to me," Natty said with a laugh. I rolled my eyes and chuckled at her. That's when the potion took effect. My head exploded in pain. I grabbed it and closed my eyes. I felt Thor holding me up. I could feel the connection forming between my mind and Loki's. Thor picked me up and took me to a chair. He sat me down but kept hold of me. The pain subsided, leaving me weak. I sighed. I knew I needed to stay up just a little longer to get what I needed. I sat up straight and opened my tired eyes. "I'm fine. Making a connection with someone's mind doesn't come without pain." I told them weakly. "You need to rest," Thor said. I shook my head knowing I wouldn't be able to rest until I had what I needed. "I know, but I still have work to do. Don't worry, I've gone longer with less sleep." I told him. Everyone was looking at me, even Tony was looking at me with a worried look. Tony and I have had a weird relationship. We didn't hate each other, but we weren't friends. He was like that annoying person you don't really want to be around but, find them to be the most entertaining people in your life. Fury was also looking worried but said nothing. He knew I wouldn't rest until I had what we needed. I closed my eyes and concentrated on the connection between Loki's and my mind. Since it was one side, he could not feel me looking through his mind. He was being controlled much like he was controlling Clint and Erik. The only difference was his mind was fighting it at the same time. The Other and this Thanos were really behind this. Yes, he would get what he wanted, but he didn't know the full amount of what Thanos had planned. I snapped out of his head and opened my eyes wide. A prophecy took over me. "Everything is not what it seems. He may say he is working alone and the idea is his own. That is just what they want him to think. We are needed now but we will be needed again. The seven of us will not be enough. Once the stones are collected, he and his army will come. We will fail." I gasped as my vision cleared and everything came back to me. Everyone was looking at me in shock. Natasha was looking at me wide-eyed. Only Clint and Natasha knew I would have visions and prophecies every so often. "Anything else from that not so awesome prophecy?" Natasha asked me. I looked at her with sadness in my eyes. "You know the rules. I can not give any details besides what I do when it comes to me." I said to her. She nodded and sighed. I knew we would fail, but that didn't mean we wouldn't Avenge. "I must rest now. I wont be any help if I don't." I said before getting up, grabbing my floating staff and walking to my room on the ship. Once in, I placed my staff on the wall beside my bed and laid down. I was so tired I couldn't even place a magic lock on the door, keeping people out. I just needed sleep.
