Chapter 6

2817 Words
A few years have passed. I'm now 23, I'm a level seven Agent now. I've met Clint's family, I've even stayed at his farm house a few times. Right now, Fury has Clint and I in New Mexico. Something that looked like a hammer fell out of space. I haven't talked to anybody from Forks since my last visit. Charlie did tell me that Bella had gotten married. She married Edward and I was not invited. I already knew that when I left back in 2005 I was no longer part of Charlie's family. I lost all my friends and my family. But lucky for me, Clint was there by my side and even took me in as an honorary member of his family. Lila and Cooper both call me Sissy Jade. He even made Natasha an honorary member of his family. She's called Aunty Nat. Speaking of Natasha, she is now a level six Agent. She is climbing the ranks fast, much like I did. She's on a solo mission right now. Monitoring Tony Stark A.K.A Iorn Man. It's night here. I was looking at this hammer, when I noticed Clint on a crane looking over the hammer. I knew Thor was here. He was looking for the hammer. I flew down and landed beside the hammer. I kneeled down and looked at it. "What are you doing Jade?" Clint asked through our earpieces. "Looking and waiting. What are you doing?" I asked back. I stood up when Thor ripped an opening in the plastic wall of the structure. I was in. "Get out of there Jade!" Clint exclaimed, but I ignored him and looked at Thor, the big buff man with long blonde hair. He walked towards me and the hammer. He towered over me but that was nothing new, since most people were taller than me. "Are you going to stand in my way?" Thor asked. I walked up to him and placed my hand on his shoulder and Whispered in his ear. "Do not worry Thor Odinson, I know this is rightfully yours." I whispered to him, before walking away and going to stand with Coulson. Coulson looked at me in question. "Just watch." I said to him. He nods and watches Thor. He stood next to the hammer, he reached out for it confidently. Coulson and I watched from above. Armed Agents approached behind us. Coulson motions for them to hold their positions. Then he radiod Clint. "Barton... Hold your fire." Coulson said to him. We watched Thor with anticipation as he wrapped his hand around the hammer. He pulled on the hammer, but it wouldn't budge. My smile fell. He screamed in frustration. I watched as he looked down at the side of the hammer. He fell to his knees before it, defeated. Coulson looked just as disappointed as I was. Why couldn't he lift Mjolnir? "Ground units, move in. Show's over." Coulson said on his radio. I followed after Coulson. I knew they would take him to the little holding cell. "Why didn't you stop him? You had the chance?" Coulson asked me as we walked. "That Hammer is Mjolnir, Hammer of the God of Thunder." I informed him. Coulson stopped walking and looked at me. "Look, we all know you are the Demi-Goddess of Witchcraft and Magic, but that doesn't mean other gods are real." Coulson said before he walked off. I sighed and looked at Thor, he looked so defeated. I walked up to him. "I'll take it from here." I said to the guards that were taking him to the holding cell. They looked at each other and nodded. I grabbed Thor's arm and continued walking. "Why couldn't you lift Mjolnir?" I asked him. "I am unworthy." Thor said back to me. "Look, don't say anything, just yet." I said to him before taking him into the room. "Please sit down, Agent Coulson will be here in a minute." I informed him before turning to walk out of the room.. "Thank you, sister," Thor said. I stopped and looked at him. "Sister?" I asked. I tapped my staff to the ground, blocking the camera's view and sound. "That staff. It was mothers, Frigga is a very powerful witch on Asgard. She came to earth and had a child with a mortal man. Hoping that one day that child can bring peace between Asgard and Earth," Thor said. I smiled, remembering the note Frigga had left with my Asgardian armor that I was wearing right at that moment. "So did you really pick this color for my armor?" I asked him. I heard the door knob and tilted the staff towards it, keeping it shut. "Yes, I did and the skull is our brother Loki's. It was his favorite. That staff showed you I was coming, correct?" Thor asked me. "Yeah." I answered him. "Jade! Open the door before I write you up." Coulson commanded from outside the door. "We will talk more later," I said to him. He nodded his head. I tap my staff to the ground, clearing the cameras' view and sound and unlocking the door. Coulson opened the door and looked at me. "Why was the door locked?" Coulson asked me. "Just having a little chat but he's not really in the talking mood." I said to him. Coulson nodded and looked at Thor, then back to me. "You can leave us now, Jade," Coulson said. "Right sorry." I said before exiting the room and shutting the door. I walked into the security room. Coulson was in the room with Thor. I looked up to see someone walking up to us. I stepped around the guard and walked up to the man. "Can I help you?" I asked the man. He was an older balding man who looked as if he had one too many beers in his younger days but seemed to be in good health. "Yes, I'm here to pick up a friend of mine." The man said. "Right, Sitwell, let Coulson know that Blonde has a visitor." I said to him. Sitwell nodded and walked off towards the holding room. I looked back at the man, he was looking at me curiously. Coulson and Sitwell soon joined us back in the security room. The man, Eric Selvig, was trying to get us to release Thor to him. "Donald Blake?" Coulson asked. "Doctor Donald Blake. He's part of our team," Eric lied. "you have dangerous co-workers, Dr. Selvig." Coulson said, while looking at the monitor. "Troubled, not dangerous. He was distraught when he found out that you'd taken all of our research. It was years of his life, gone! He got depressed, started drinking, and..... well, you know the rest." Eric said to Coulson. He was so good at lying. If I knew it wasn't true I would believe him. "Uh-huh. You mind if we take a moment to verify his identity?" Coulson asked. "Certainly" Eric said. I watched as the techie ran the name. "You can understand how a man could go off like that. I mean, a big, faceless organization like yours, coming in with their jack-booted thugs and stealing private property....." Eric was saying. I tried to hide my smile by looking down. While Coulson gave him a pointed look. "....is how he described it." Eric finished. "That doesn't explain how he managed to tear through our security," Coulson said. "Steroids. He's a bit of a fitness nut," Eric said. I looked at the screen to see that it even said the ID was fake. "It says here he's an M.D." Coulson said. "He is. That is, he was. He switched careers and became a physicist. He's quite brilliant, really." Eric said, trying to cover his lie. "If you would just release him to me, I promise to keep an eye on him." Eric said. Coulson looked like he was thinking. He smiled and turned to an agent nearby. "Release Dr. Blake to Dr. Selvig here." He said to the agent. The techie looked at him surprised. Coulson turned back to Eric. "Agent Swan here will be going with you, to make sure he stays in town for the next few days in case we need to talk to him again." Coulson informed us. I looked at him confused. "Sir?" I asked. "This will be a test to find out who you are loyal to," Coulson said. "Yes, sir." I said to him, before leading the way to the holding cell. Eric was right behind me. I opened the door, letting Eric in first. "Donny, Donny, Donny! There you are!" Eric exclaimed. Thor looked up, unsure of what was going on. Eric pulled him to his feet and gave him a warm hug. "It's going to be all right, my friend. Come on, I'm taking you home." Eric said. I led Eric and the bewildered Thor out the door. As the three of us made our way past the security room, I could feel Coulson following the three of us outside. The three of us walked away from the base to an SUV. But not before Thor pocketed a book that was among the stuff Coulson had confiscated earlier. "Just keep him away from the bars." Coulson said to Eric. "I will!" Eric exclaimed. "Where are we going?" Thor asked Eric. Eirc dropped his cool demeanor. "To get a drink." Eric said. We climbed into the SUV and drove off. Thor, Eric and I sat in a booth at the back of the local dive. The bartender sets down a couple of beer mugs and three shots of whiskey. Eric poured his shot into his mug and downed it. Thor followed his lead. I grabbed the shot of whiskey and tossed it back. I sat the shot down and pushed the mug of beer over to Thor, who I knew could handle it. "Seems Darcy's a terrible intern, but a talented hacker," Eric said. "Thank you for what you've done," Thor said to him. "Don't thank me. I only did it for Jane," Eric said. "Are you in love with her?" Thor asked. "Of course not! Jane's like a daughter to me. Her father and I taught at university together. A good man, but he never listened." Eric said. "Neither did I," Thor said, looking down with a frown. Eric was looking at him with interest. I placed my hand on Thor's shoulder. He placed his hand on mine. "I don't know if you're really delusional, and I really don't care at this point. I just care about her. I've seen the way she looks at you," Eric said. "I swear to you, I mean her no harm," Thor said. "Good. If that's the case, then I'll buy you one more drink, and you'll leave town tonight." Eric said. I looked at him. Thor nodded his head. They both picked up a mug and started to drink. I rolled my eyes and watched the two. Thor placed his drink down. "I had it all backwards. I had it all wrong." Thor said. "It's not a bad thing, finding out that you don't have all the answers. That's when you start asking the right questions," Eric said. "For the first time in my life, I have no idea what I'm supposed to do," Thor said. I just stayed quiet, I looked out over the bar. I could see men looking at me. I was in my Asgardian suit. My staff still in my hand. "Anyone who's ever going to find their way in this world has to start by admitting they don't know where the hell they are." Eric said. I looked back at him. Thor nodded, taking in what he said. I looked back over the crowd to see a drunk townie coming over. "Hey, I know you, man...." The Townie said, he would be intimidating, but most men couldn't intimidate me. "You were in the diner with that girl." The drunk townie continued. I rolled my eyes and stood up. "How about you leave?" I said, not liking where this was heading. "I wouldn't mind her doing a little research on me." The townie laughed. I could tell Thor was annoyed. I was kind of annoyed. "I have no quarrel with you. But she's a lady. You should be more respectful," Thor said. I could tell Eric was watching Thor in concern, but Thor remained calm. "I will not fight him," Thor claimed, as if fighting this man was beneath him. "Then it'll be easy to kick your ass." The townie said. Eric stood up beside me, kind of pushing me back down into my seat next to Thor. "Gentlemen, please. Let's keep our heads," Eric said. Just then, he head-butted the townie. Knocking him out. "Not the way I would have done it, but impressive," I said with a laugh. Thor was looking at him impressed. Eric downed his drink, then hurls his glass aside, shattering it on the ground. "Another drink?" Eric asked Thor. It was late at night when we left the bar. Thor and Eric were singing a Norwegian Folk song as they stumbled down the street. They sang and danced until Eric fell over. Thor slung Eric over his shoulder and we continued to walk down the street. Thor looked at me and smiled. "I've always dreamed of meeting you one day. Heimdall kept us all informed of your adventures here. Mother wished to bring you back to Asgard but Father said you did not belong there." Thor said to me. "He's probably right, I don't belong there. I belong here, these are my people. And I'll protect them no matter what." I said to him. "I'm just glad I finally got the chance to meet my sister," Thor said. "I'm glad to meet one of my brothers I never knew I had until a few years ago.." I said to him with a laugh. We walked up to a trailer, I knocked on the door then stepped back to stand next to Thor. The door opened and a woman with long brown hair was standing there shocked. "Eric!" The girl exclaimed. "Is he all right?" She asked while looking at Thor. "He's fine. Not injured at all." Thor said, as he entered the trailer he banged Eric's head on the doorway. Eric groaned. "Sorry, my friend," Thor said while laughing. "Nice going Thor, We almost made it with no injuries," I said sarcastically as I followed the girl inside. "What happened?" The girl asked. "We drank. We fought. He made his ancestors proud." Thor said. The girl looked at me as if wanting me to confirm what Thor had said. "They drank, Eric head-butted a townie, knocked him out." I said to her. She nods her head then looks back to Thor. "Put him on the bed." She said to him before she turned to me. "Who are you?" She asked. "I'm Agent Jade Swan of SHIELD." I said to her while showing her my badge and ID card. She looked kind of pissed. "Your people stole my stuff!" She said to me while pointing her finger at me. "Correction. The Field Agents took your stuff. I'm a Specilty Agent. I don't really deal with that stuff. I'm more or less a spy and assassin when needed." I say to her. She looked taken aback by that. Thor came back and looked at the two of us. "Sister, let me introduce you to Jane Foster. Jane Foster, this is my sister," Thor said. We both looked at him. We soon left the trailer and went up to the roof of Smith Motors. There was a telescope, a few chairs and blankets. I walked over to the telescope while Thor and Jane talked. I looked through the telescope, I could see the different galaxies. I smiled and moved away from the telescope. I looked over to Thor and Jane to see him describing the nine realms. I looked at my staff. It lit up, showing me Paul. I smiled. I miss my friend but he wants nothing to do with me now. He sat with Rachel Black. It looked like they were at the hospital. They were looking very excitedly at the monitor. I looked closely to see a doctor was doing an ultrasound. I gave a sad little smile. Paul was having a child with Rachel Black. The ball lost its light. I looked down. I would look in at Paul every now and again hoping he was happy. I guess I got my answer. He was happier without me. I sighed and looked back at Jane and Thor. Jane was asleep cuddled up against Thor. He was just looking up at the stars. I looked up and smiled. I sat down on the roof and just looked up. Everything was quiet.
