It's now 2012. Fury has me on a mission helping Captain Steve Rogers A.K.A. Captain America. Some SHIELD agents found him incased in ice out in the Arctic. That was about eight months ago. Steve is doing great adjusting to the new world. He does have nightmares and has a hard time with most of the electronics. But he gets better every day. We are kind of like best friends. Papa Clint is out working another mission with Fury and Hill and Sissy Nat is out on a solo mission. Yes, Natasha is like a sister to me, just like Clint, even though he is old enough to be my brother, he has always acted more like a father. I have nothing better to do than make new best friends. Steve is pretty awesome. I love hearing him talk about his time in the war. I really love listening to him talk about his best friend and brother Bucky. I haven't talked to anyone from Forks besides Charlie since my last visit. Charlie would call me every now and again to check on me. He has no idea what my job is. I don't carry my Grimoir anymore. I keep my staff with me at all times though. It was late at night, Steve and I were at a gym. He was once again having trouble sleeping, so he is punching his frustration out. I was looking at my staff, it hadn't shown me anything in a while. I looked at the ball and willed it to show me Thor. I hadn't talked to him since he went back to Asgard. The ball on top of my staff lit up. I smiled when I saw his long blonde hair. He wasn't smiling, though he was frowning. I could see he was talking to Heimdall.
"She's worried about you. She misses you. She doesn't understand why you haven't come back yet, like you promised her you would." Heimdall said to Thor. Thor looked deep in thought. I knew they were talking about Jane. I have spoken to her a few times. And she does miss him much like I do. But I knew the Bifrost was broken and there was no way for him to come back.
"What about Jade? How is she?" Thor asked. I could tell he missed me even if we didn't get to spend much time together.
"She uses the staff to check on you, she is using it now. She can hear and see both of us. She misses you as well and hopes that one day you will be able to come back. Even if it's just for a small visit," Heimdall informed him. Thor smiled and looked out towards the cosmos.
"I miss her as well. I wished to bring her back so mother could see her again. She has a lot to learn and I know mother could teach her," Thor said. I smiled at the thought of meeting Frigga. But I knew my place was here on earth, Odin would never agree to me visiting.
"I wish I could meet Frigga. Your right, I still have a lot to learn but I think I'm getting the hang of it." I said to my staff. I watched as Heimdall and Thor watched the sky.
"She wishes she could meet Frigga as well. She agrees with you that she still has a lot to learn but she believes she is getting the hang of it." Heimdall said to Thor. I smiled as the light on my staff went off. I looked over at Steve since he had just destroyed another punching bag.
"Trouble Sleeping?" I looked over towards the opening of the gym to see Nick Fury walking in. After New Mexico, Fury has been keeping an even closer eye on me. Lucky for me, he didn't tell anyone about me being related to Thor. The only ones to know were Papa Clint, Agent Coulson, Agent Hill, Fury and Natasha. I hadn't even told Steve. I did tell Steve about My Witchcraft and Magic. I also told him my code name. I loved being known as the Violet Witch. Most of SHIELD calls me that instead of my name.
"I slept for seventy years, sir. I think I've had my fill." Steve answered back, starting to punch at another bag.
"Then you should be out, celebrating, seeing the world," Fury said. Steve stopped punching and walked over to the bench I sat on. He unraveled his hands and sat down beside me.
"I went under, The world was at war. I woke up, they say we won. They didn't say what we lost." Steve said to Fury. I looked at Steve, then at Fury. This was one topic Steve couldn't understand. He hated that not many would tell him the truth.
"We've made some mistakes along the way. Some very recently," Fury said.
"You here with a mission, sir?" Steve asked. Done with the conversation.
"I am," Nick answered. I raised my eyebrows in question at him. Why hadn't I heard sooner?
"Trying to get me back in the world?" Steve questioned.
"Trying to save it." Fury answered while handing him a paper file. I looked over Steve's shoulder to see it was on HYDRA and the Tesseract. I looked up at Fury confused.
"Hydra's secret weapon," Steve confirmed. Why was Fury after this?
"Howard Stark fished that out of the ocean when he was looking for you. He thought what we think, the Tesseract could be the key to unlimited sustainable energy. That's something the world sorely needs," Fury said. I was confused, since when does SHIELD care about sustainable energy? And why haven't they contacted Tony Stark to help them with this? Something wasn't adding up. What was Fury trying to hide?
"Who took it from you?" Steve asked. I looked at Fury, wondering the same thing.
"He's called Loki. He's not from around here. There's a lot we'll have to bring you up to speed on if you're in. The world has gotten even stranger than you already know." Fury said. Steve got up and was getting ready to leave. I, on the other hand, stayed seated wondering why Fury was bring in Steve when he knew I could handle Loki alone.
"At this point, I doubt anything would surprise me." Steve said as he walked towards the punching bags, grabbing two of them so he could put them up.
"Ten bucks says you're wrong. There's a debriefing package waiting for you back at your apartment." Fury informed Steve as he went to leave. "Is there anything you can tell us about the Tesseract that we ought to know now?" Fury finally asked. I stood up and went to stand next to Fury.
"You should have left it in the ocean," Steve said, annoyed, before exiting the gym. I looked at Fury.
"Loki, Sir? Thor's brother?" I asked him. He looked at me and nodded. I shook my head.
"How is that possible? The Bifrost Bridge is broken. I've seen it for myself. Thor broke it, trying to save Jotunheim from destruction. Loki fell into space to never be seen again." I said to Fury, still confused.
"I don't know how he is here. He has Barton and Selvig and a few other Agents," Fury informed me. I gasped in shock. Barton? Papa Clint was in trouble? My mind was racing trying to figure out how I was going to take Loki down and save Papa Clint and Dr. Selvig.
"Can you find them?" Fury asked while looking at me, ignoring my panic thoughts I looked at my staff. I was looking into the crystal ball but nothing was happening.
"Loki doesn't want to be seen, meaning my staff can not find him. But I might have another way." I informed him. He nodded his head. But I could tell he didn't really believe me.
"Go to your apartment and get ready. You fly out with Coulson and Captain," Fury commended.
"Yes, Sir." I agree, knowing it was better than to argue. I opened a portal to my apartment and stepped through it. I sat on my bed and looked at my staff. It lit up, showing me Heimdall standing guard on the broken bridge.
"Heimdall? Can I ask you a question?" I asked the crystal ball. I could see the glint of a smile on Heimdall's face.
"Ask me anything." Heimdall answered. It was my first time talking to him directly.
"What should I expect from Loki? He is here and he took someone I care a lot about and a very good friend of Thor's and mine. I am worried that I will not be enough to keep the people or my home safe." I confide in him. I watched as he thought over my words before answering me.
"Loki, much like yourself, is very talented at magic. But he is a trickster and a manipulator. Be very alert and never doubt yourself. You are a great deal stronger than he is in Magic. You have learned more by yourself than Frigga ever taught him." Heimdall said to me.
"Do you know what he has planned?" I asked him. Knowing if anyone could give me the information I needed, it was him.
"He has an Army called the Chitauri. They are not from Asgard or any Realam. He plans to lead them against your people in order to rule Earth. Using the Tesseract to make a portal the same way, SHIELD made a portal that brought him there. Once he wins, he will hand the Tesseract over to someone, but I do not know who." Heimdall informed me. I thought about what he said. Now knowing why Fury was bringing Steve in.
"This isn't just a job for me. It's a job for Earth's mightest Hero's. Heimdall, is there anyway Thor could come and help us?" I asked him. I knew that if I had Thor on our side, we might just have a chance at defeating Loki with very few casualties.
"The bridge is broken, it would take a lot of Dark magic to send him there." Heimdall said to me. I frowned, knowing that only Odin had that much power.
"Okay thank you Heimdall. Will you let Thor know that Loki is still alive? I know he has been mourning him." I said to him.
"Yes, Lady Jade. I will inform Thor, Lady Frigga and Odin, King of Asgard, of Loki's arrival in Midgard." Heimdall said. I sighed and looked at my suit. I walked to the bathroom and took a shower. Fury knew I could just make a portal to the Helicarrier, so why tell me to leave with Steve and Coulson? He was hiding something, something he didn't want me to find out. What were Barton and Erik doing working with the Tesseract? Barton would usually tell me all about his missions, but this one he hadn't told anyone anything about it.
~~~Time Skip~~~
I walked up towards the Quinjet that would take Coulson, Steve and myself to the Helicarrier. I was holding my staff, I was in my Asgardian armor. I was ready for this mission, the mission I had been training for. The Avengers was happening even though the world wasn't ready for us. I sighed and walked into the jet. I had nothing but my staff. Coulson and Steve were already on the jet. The pilots are ready to go. Coulson and Steve both looked at me.
"Violet Witch, I see you're ready for battle," Coulson commented.
"Heimdall has informed my brother about his brother being here." I informed Coulson. Not wanting to talk too much.
"Can we expect help?" Coulson asked.
"No, the bridge is broken. He has no way here. We're on our own," I told him.
"Let me know if anything changes," Coulson said. I looked down while he turned towards the pilots. The ramp closed and we were soon taking off. Coulson was talking with the pilots while Steve was looking at a tablet. But I had to know because I knew Thor would want to know.
"Sir? What about Jane Foster? I'm sure my brother would like to know that she is safe." I asked Coulson. He turned and looked at me. Knowing that Jane was very important to my brother and there for important to me.
"She is safe. We have close eyes on her. Don't worry." Coulson said. Something was bothering me. Coulson wasn't giving me all the information. Much like Fury, he seemed to be hiding something.
"You know I've taken Loki on before. And I've only gotten stronger since New Mexico. Why risk getting everyone involved? I can handle this." I said, trying to see what Coulson would say. Steve looked up from the tablet while Coulson looked at me.
"Can you even find the Tesseract? Director Fury told me that your staff wouldn't even show you Loki's whereabouts," Coulson almost taunted. I tilted my head now, knowing they were defiantly hiding something.
"That doesn't mean I don't have other ways of finding him. I'm a witch after all. I can do a location spell." I argued with him.
"I'm sorry but you just have to wait," Coulson said. I shook my head. And looked at my staff. Coulson and Steve started to talk. I just sat down and ignored them the rest of the way. Everyone was hiding something from me. I was bound and determined to find out.
