The night above us stretches wide and endless, and the sky is littered with stars that shimmer like scattered dust. A quiet breeze rustles through the trees, cool against my skin, but not unpleasant. I'm lying on the soft grass, arms folded behind my head and my eyes staring up at the vastness of it all. Jasper is lying beside be as well. He lets out a breath. "You’ve changed," he says, his voice smooth and easy, like we are just making casual conversation. "Obviously," I scoff. "Being stranded on an island does that to a person."
