Chapter 23 Wyatt’s POV Wyatt burst through the doors to the hospital with Bennett and Terry on his heels. As he approached the nurses station, his sister came rushing over. “Is this her, Wyatt? What happened?” Kinzie asked. “It was her first shift and we got a little more than we bargained for. She has a wolf and a Lycan and we met both. I’ll tell you the rest later. Is she okay?” “Follow me, Wyatt, I have a room all ready for her. Bennett linked me that you were on the way.” Kinzie led them into a room near the nurses station. The room was a soft yellow color with fresh flowers on the sill that was framed with white curtains. She pulled back an antique quilt so Wyatt could lay Piper down comfortably. Kinzie began to check Piper’s vitals. She checked her pupil response and temperature. Wyatt stood by impatiently tapping his foot, waiting on his sister. “Is she okay, Kinz?” “Yes Wyatt, she will be fine. She has over used all of her energy. She is in a hibernation type sleep to replenish her energy. I can’t tell you how long she will be asleep, but I can tell you that all of her vitals are fine and she is in perfect health otherwise.” Kinzie smiled and placed a hand on her brother's shoulder. “ I will take care of her, Wyatt. Go back to the pack out and do what you do best, be an Alpha.” Piper’s POV Piper opened her eyes and sat up. She was in a large green field that was dotted with wildflowers in shades of yellow, blue, and white. The sun was shining in a light blue sky scattered with white fluffy clouds. As she looked around she saw a figure walk out of the forest that bordered the meadow to her right. Once her vision focused, she was able to take in the presence of the woman walking toward her. The woman had long brown hair pulled back in the front and flowing down in the back in waves. She had smokey gray eyes and was wearing a long flowing white dress with a bronze corset. She smiled at Piper and said, “Hello, my daughter. I am Athena, your great grandmother. I have been watching you your whole life waiting for this moment.” “Athena? Aren’t you?” “Yes, I am the goddess of wisdom my dear. I wanted to see you before your life got too crazy,” she laughed. “Now that you have shifted and embraced your heritage, it is time to add more to it. Your line comes directly from my adopted son, Erichtonius of Athens. All of his descendants have the ability to retain vast amounts of knowledge. But I would like to give you a gift, a gift I have never bestowed upon a mortal before. I am going to give you the gift of my knowledge.” When she finished talking, Athena placed her hands on either side of Piper’s head. Piper felt light headed and dizzy. She almost fell to the ground. When Athena lowered her hands, she said, “You now have all of the knowledge that I possess. You can come up with a solution to any problem that will arise.” “Athena, I don’t understand what is happening. Just yesterday morning I was a normal girl dealing with moving to a new place with my parents. I had graduated high school and was beginning to figure out where to go from there. Now everything has changed in the blink of an eye and I don’t know what is what anymore. I now have a mate, but can I trust him, can I trust the feelings I have for him when I don’t know where they are coming from?” Piper let out a sigh. “I know this is going to be difficult child, all change is after all. Trust in your mate. Trust that my sister wouldn’t pair you with him unless it was meant to be. You have already been with me too long and your mate is getting anxious, so I must send you back. I will talk to you again soon, my child.” Piper felt herself beginning to fade away. Everything went dark and she was beginning to recognize other sounds. She could hear the beep beep beep of machines. Why was she in the hospital?
