Chapter 14
Pipers pov
Piper snuggled down into the covers, slowly waking up. It was so warm and comfortable in her bed that she just didn’t want to get up. Slowly the events of yesterday started to flood back into her memory.
She bolted up in bed and her eyes widened. Destiny? She didn’t know if she really wanted an answer. Part of her was hoping that she was going crazy instead of what seemed to be becoming reality.
No you silly child, you are not going crazy, I am right here.
Like that really makes me feel better.
She threw the blankets off, climbed out of bed and walked to the bathroom. After doing her business, she stood at the sink and splashed water on her face. She still looked tired, with dark circles under her eyes. She brushed her teeth and pulled her long hair into a ponytail. She walked back into her room and to her closet. She chose to wear blue jeans, a tie dye long sleeve shirt and black flats.
Okay Destiny, are you ready for the day?
“With you I am always ready.”
Piper opened her bedroom door and stopped. The scent of sandalwood and latte hit her senses. Wyatt is here! She said to Destiny.
Well don’t just stand there girl, go down to him!
Piper had a smile on her face as she descended the stairs. Butterflies were going crazy in her middle and she was feeling a little giddy. How do I act when I see him? Will he like me? Will he laugh at my jokes or think I am pretty?
Girl he loves everything about you and thinks you are the most beautiful woman in the world. He loves us already. That is what mates are.
Piper smiled as she stepped off the staircase onto the landing, she could hear voices coming from the kitchen. She tiptoed to the door and stood there listening. She felt bad about eavesdropping till she heard her name. When she heard Bennet ask what they were going to tell her, she pushed the door open and said, “You can start with the truth.”
The room fell silent and all eyes turned to Piper. You could cut the tension with a knife. Her eyes met Wyatt’s and she saw desire flash across his face but it was gone just as quickly. He kept eye contact as he slid the book across the table to her.
She was silent as she read the passage. When she looked up she asked, “Do you mind if I hang on to this for a while so I can read it through?”
“Read it through?” Bennett asked.
“Yea, my fathers scholarly curiosity rubbed off on me at an early age.” she replied sarcastically.
“Piper, we need to talk about your first shift. For wolves, a female's first shift is extremely painful unless her mate is with her. I can only assume it is the same for Lycans. Axel and I want to be there with you tonight.”
“Axel?” she asked.
“My wolf. He hasn’t had a chance to talk to your Lycan yet, but he wants to be there for her.”
“Her name is Destiny,” Piper replied. “And yes, I would like for you to be there. I know nothing about shifting and would appreciate the help.”
Piper, I have just talked to Axel. Our mate is sincere. I can't wait to get to know them better. Destiny was almost wagging her tail in Piper’s mind. Piper had an idea.
“Hey, Mr. Lancaster, do you think it would be okay if you and I spent some time together today. You know, get to know each other a little better.” Piper asked nervously.
“I would like that, Piper. But only if you will stop with the Mr. Lancaster. To you, I will always be just Wyatt.”
Piper had a blush on her cheeks as she smiled at Wyatt. “Okay, let me just run this book upstairs and I will be right back.”
She dashed from the room to throw the book on her bed.
