My body still vibrated with this uneasy energy, almost reaching the point of pain. My insides were turning, but I could not figure out wheat the hell was going on with me here. These feelings... this pain... it felt different than before. It actually felt different to anything I ever felt before.

There was no reason as to why I would be feeling like this. I am no sick or anything like that...

It must be the exhaustion from the heat... yes, it must be that.

Shaking my head I continued on to my room.

My hormones and pheromones were off, and it makes sense, I just came out of heat that I spent with that wolf and stuff like that must affect my hormonal levels. All I need is a good night of sleep and I will be better tomorrow.

Feeling exhaustion creep its way into my body I walked to the desk in the room I was assigned. It was not much, but it will do. Now that I was alone, the pain and uneasiness got stronger and stronger, making each move a hard task. Feeling even more exhausted with each step I pulled out my phone and started getting ready for bed.

Undressing, I messaged Richard, informing him that I was going to bed early and he was free to do the same.

I put my phone on the do not disturb setting and completely undressed laid into the cool welcoming sheets. It was strange that even as I laid down my body did not relax. The tension I felt before was still there, it was still making me feel uneasy and achy. Another problem was that sleep was not coming easily at all. No matter how exhausted I felt I could not get my body and mind to calm down enough so it would fall asleep. When I finally fell asleep, my dreams were filled with Vivian.

In the dream was in a small room that I could not get to. She was in a small tight bed tossing and turning in pain, crying out for help... and I could not do anything to stop the pain. Everything in me screamed to save her to stop her suffering, but I could not do anything... I could not get to her...

With a deep growl of frustration I jumped awake.

I reached for my phone to see that it was way to early to be awake, but my body was way too off to go back to sleep, so I gave up on that idea.

Frustrated, I started working and that was how Richard found me in the morning.

"Sir? Are you okay? Your scent is off."

Feeling even more annoyed with the strange feeling.

"Not sure, I feel off and there is this feeling..."

Richard's face became even more concerned.

"Sir, maybe you should contact your physician? This doesn't look so well and this is happening right after your heat... maybe they will be able to tell what's wrong."

"I guess it won't hurt and I can't work like this."

I pulled out my phone and dialed Mia, my personal doctor, back at the palace.

"Your highness, what can I do for you?"

"Good morning, Mia. I am feeling off. Could you do a quick scan of my vitals?"

"Sure, one moment."

The bracelet on my hand vibrated and I felt the scan begin.

"Okay, I have the date of your vitals, one moment.."

She said as she read through the information she received from the scan.

"Physical ones seem fine, the usual dehydration and lack of sleep is still there, but that is nothing new. Your hormones are off the charts, but nothing in your body indicates that you are going into heat or something like that."

The concern in her voice made me feel a bit worried.

"Hmm... your last heat was due a few days ago, but you did not spend it in the palace. How did it go? Something out of the ordinary?"

"Well, I spent it with someone. That is not something I usually do. We were matched by the elders and the match was one hundred percent."

Silence at the other end of the line was not a good sign.

"Hmm... and I guess that you are not with that person right now?"

"No, what does that have to do with it?"

"Well, in a few cases, there has been seen that if hybrids are extra compatible, they can bond and form a connection even after one heat together. Sure, the connection is not solid, but it can still be felt on both sides."

"What? How was that even possible?"

"My best guess is that what you are feeling right now is fragments of what the other person is feeling. Do you know any reasons why they would be in pain or why their hormones would be going crazy?"

My mind raced as I tried to figure out what was going on... and then it hit me.

"She... she was supposed to take pregnancy preventatives, we didn't use protection during the heat."

"Well, we have the answer here: she is the reason why you are feeling like this right now. What type is she, might I ask?"

"Wolf."

Silence at the other end of the line did not sound encouraging.

"Okay, that explains it even more. Wolves are quite sensitive to hormonal changes and those types of medication usually affect them quite badly. "

Why did hearing that she was in pain make my insides turn? Was this another side effect of that freaking connection?

"Umm... is there a way to stop me feeling this? I can't concentrate on work."

"Well there is only one way to fix this and it's to make the wolf hybrid you spent your heat with feel better."

"What? Are you joking?"

"Does it sound like I'm joking? The math here is easy, she feels like s**t - you feel like s**t. It's not so hard to understand."

"And how am I supposed to do that?"

"Well, research shows that spending time after taking this sort of medication with a mate makes the whole experience tolerable."

"But we are not mates."

"You are as close as one can be without the mating bite."

Frustrated with the situation, I closed my eyes by pressing a hand over them, in hopes of easing the headache that was approaching. Why does everything have to be so complicated? Why does this situation with Vivian have to be annoying?

"Okay, thank you. I will call if I need anything else."

"That is why I am here, your majesty."

Ending the call, I closed my eyes, trying to decide what I should do now with the information I know.

A big part of me wanted to ignore all this, to ignore her existence, the pain I was feeling, my freaking hormones... but I knew that I couldn't. Especially because I was the reason why she was in pain.

Fighting myself, I decided that I just needed to check in on her, just to make sure it was okay and maybe we could get some pain killers for her and then it would all be better, right? She won't be in pain and I could go back to work,

"Richard?"

"Yes, your highness?"

"Find Vivian."

"Yes, sir."

He knew better than to question my motives, so he moved. In a few seconds, he was out of the room, and I was alone once again. My body was still in this phantom pain that I could not pinpoint, but now I knew that it was her... that this pain was hers, and I was just feeling the shadows of it through the connection.

My mind could not ignore the fact that this was just a shadow or her pain... I could not think about the pain she was in right now.

A few minutes later, he called me.

"Richard?"

"Sir, lady Vivian was rushed to the medics after fainting."
