She Is My Fiancée

1. An Awkward First Encounter Sophia stood at the entrance of the Knight family mansion, gazing up at the castle-like building. She took a deep breath. She had mentally prepared herself for this moment, but reality was proving to be far more challenging than she had anticipated. The servants lined up in the grand hall, yet none stepped forward to help with her luggage. Their silence spoke volumes—it was a quiet but unmistakable display of disdain. Sophia sighed inwardly, bit her lip, and bent down to carry her suitcases on her own. With both hands gripping the heavy bags, her vision was completely blocked as she trudged toward the stairs— Bang! She collided headfirst into a firm chest, lost her balance, and stumbled backward. Her grip on the suitcases loosened, sending them tumbling to the floor. The latches popped open, and her clothes spilled out. Including a few pieces of… underwear. For a moment, the air seemed to freeze. Sophia’s face turned crimson as she hastily crouched down to gather her belongings. But before she could, a long, slender hand reached out and picked up a piece of silky nightwear with practiced elegance. She snapped her head up, locking eyes with a pair of deep blue ones. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to startle you.” The man’s voice was deep and soothing, tinged with a gentle apology. He slightly turned his head, deliberately avoiding looking at the more intimate garments, before neatly closing her suitcase and lifting it effortlessly. Sophia was mortified, her hands trembling as she scrambled to collect the rest of her things. “It’s—It’s fine… Thank you…” “Are you a guest here?” The man asked, his tone mild yet curious. Still flustered, Sophia focused on stuffing her clothes back into her suitcase. “Something like that…” “Perfect timing. Let me carry this for you.” “No, no, it’s okay!” She waved her hands in protest. “I can manage—” But he had already picked up the suitcase and was walking up the stairs with long, graceful strides. Sophia hesitated for a moment before hurrying after him. “By the way, I haven’t introduced myself,” he said with a slight smile, his lips curving into a warm arc. “I’m Ethan.” Sophia blinked. “Ethan?” He nodded, his blue eyes shimmering with a hint of amusement. What she didn’t know was that this gentle and polite man was none other than Alexander’s half-brother—Ethan Knight. --- 2. A Night at the Ball The grand hall of the Knight family estate was filled with the elite of high society. It was the annual gala of Knight Enterprises, a gathering of the most influential figures in the business world. Sophia stood at the center of it all, feeling the weight of countless scrutinizing gazes. She was fully aware that she was unwelcome here. “I heard she owns a flower shop?” “God, the fiancée of the Knights is a florist? How amusing.” A group of socialites nearby covered their mouths as they laughed, their tones dripping with condescension. Sophia clenched her fists, ready to respond, when suddenly— A calm yet authoritative voice interrupted the conversation. “That’s enough.” She turned and found Ethan standing beside her, his usual smile slightly subdued, his eyes carrying a quiet warning. “Is this how you treat my guest?” His voice was mild, but there was an unmistakable weight behind his words. The socialites’ expressions stiffened. They exchanged glances before reluctantly retreating, grumbling under their breath. Sophia let out a breath of relief and gave Ethan a grateful look. “Thank you.” He smiled gently. “Don’t let them get to you. People at these events always look for someone to pick on.” Then, as if trying to lighten the mood, he extended his hand toward her and said, “May I have this dance?” Sophia hesitated, caught off guard by the sudden invitation. Just as she was about to say yes— A deep, cold voice cut through the air. “That won’t be necessary.” --- 3. A Shocking Declaration Alexander strode over, his gaze briefly landing on Ethan before his hand shot out, grasping Sophia’s wrist and pulling her away. Sophia staggered slightly from the force and frowned in protest. “Alexander, what are you doing?” He ignored her question, his sharp eyes sweeping across the room. Lifting his champagne glass, he spoke in a voice low yet powerful, commanding the attention of everyone in the hall. “Ladies and gentlemen, it is my pleasure to introduce my fiancée—Sophia Lane.” A stunned silence filled the room. Then, murmurs spread like wildfire. The socialites’ faces twisted in various shades of shock, displeasure, and disbelief. Sophia’s eyes widened in astonishment. Did he really just announce that? Here? In front of everyone? Ethan’s expression remained unreadable, though his smile had faded slightly, his gaze darkening. Just as the tension thickened, a crisp female voice broke the moment. “Oh? How interesting.” Sophia turned and saw a woman approaching. She was draped in a fiery red gown, her features so strikingly beautiful they seemed almost unreal. There was a bold arrogance in the way she carried herself, an air of defiance in the smirk curling her lips. She took a sip from her champagne flute, her gaze landing on Sophia with a hint of amusement. “Ann Blackwell, heiress of Blackwell Enterprises.” Ann smiled playfully, her tone both teasing and inquisitive. “Fiancée? Huh… That’s unexpected.” Sophia tensed slightly, uncertain whether Ann’s words were meant as a challenge or simple curiosity. Ann swirled her champagne lazily. “So tell me, how exactly did you get Alexander to announce your engagement? You must be quite something.” Before Sophia could formulate a response, Alexander cut in coldly. “That’s none of your concern.” Ann raised an eyebrow, grinning. “Relax, I was just curious.” She took another sip and turned away, disappearing into the crowd. Sophia watched Ann’s retreating figure, trying to decipher whether she had just made a friend—or a potential rival. She was still lost in thought when she suddenly felt Alexander leaning closer, his voice low as he murmured, “Stay away from Ethan.” Sophia shot him a glare. “And what gives you the right to tell me what to do?” Alexander met her defiance head-on, his voice unwavering. “Because you are my fiancée.”
