CHAPTER-16

EMILY’S POV, We had our dinner with that beautiful wolf. It was a nice wolf; not only did it not attack us, but it also played with us. After staying with us for some time, it went on its way. When it was leaving, I thought it was saying goodbye to me. I also bid it farewell. "No matter what you say, Emily, the way the wolf was behaving, I wouldn't believe it was a wolf. It gave off a puppy energy with you. So tame. So friendly. Though it wasn't anything like that with me," Emily said. "Believe it or not, it was a wolf," I said with a laugh. "By the way, what were you talking about?" Lily asked. "What?" "You said something about a dream," Lily asked. "The dream! I have been having this weird dream about a wolf. That is quite similar to this one. If I believed in supernatural beings, I would say this wolf came to visit me in my dreams," I said, laughing. "Yeah! Only if supernatural things were real. But so what, they aren't! Let's read some fantasy. I got some books," Lily said. "Great minds think alike, I also got us some books. Let's read them and enjoy the night," I replied. This is our usual way of enjoying the camping night. We read books, talk, eat. This is how the day becomes evening, evening becomes night, and night becomes dawn. We found ourselves a comfortable place to read under the rechargeable light. And we heard thunder sounds. "There wasn't supposed to be rain tonight. I checked the weather," Lily said. But we could already see clouds forming. So we had to hurry and find refuge from the upcoming rain. "They can't possibly predict the right weather every time. Let's pack up before the rain starts." Saying this, we started to gather our things. Then we both heard a noise from the same direction the wolf went. We both looked together. We saw two people walking towards us. "Who's there?" I said with a shaky voice. "Emily, it's me," one of them said. The voice felt familiar, but my brain wasn't working properly to guess the person. But when they stepped into the light, I finally exhaled, not realizing I had been holding my breath. It's Alexander and his friend Ian. "You two! What are you doing here?" I was surprised to see them there. "Grover called and said you two girls would be here for camping tonight. It's going to rain soon, and this place becomes all muddy if it rains even a bit. And it is not safe to be here during or after rain. So we got worried and came to see if you guys are okay," Alexander said. "We didn't expect the rain today. That's why we planned the night out. But it got ruined by the upcoming rain. We were just packing up our things to leave," I said sadly. "But why are you here?" I asked. "My family home is here. I had something to do here, so I came back. And then Grover called. So I came to see if you need any kind of help," Alexander said. "We are about to leave for home. But thanks for coming to find us," I replied awkwardly. "You guys shouldn't drive at night, and it'll rain soon. It's not safe. Let's go to my family house for tonight," Alexander proposed with sparkly eyes. Emily and I looked at each other and didn't know if we should follow them or not. We also knew it'll be dangerous to drive. So we eventually agreed and followed them to Alexander's house. Alexander and Ian helped us carry our things. After walking for about 15 minutes, we reached a place. It had several well-maintained old and modern houses, playgrounds, and clean roads. Almost like a small city in the middle of nowhere. Alexander kept giving me explanations about the things we passed by. This place gave off a peaceful vibe, and I liked it. After walking for another 5 minutes, we reached a three-story building. It was really beautiful and it felt like straight out of a fairy tale. It has a huge garden at the front and a big driveway. There were many cars parked outside the building. I was in awe seeing these. "Welcome to my house," Alexander said a bit dramatically. A chuckle escaped from my mouth. "You have a really pretty home, Alexander. Why wouldn't you live here? If it were my home, I would never think about living somewhere else," I said with amusement in my eyes. "Well, something happened and I needed to move out for some time, but I'll move back soon," Alexander said. When we entered what seemed like the living room, Grover was sitting on a couch. When he saw us, he stood up and came towards us and gave Lily a hug. I eyed Lily for answers. She said she would tell me later. "I'm glad you're fine. I was worried if you would get caught in the rain," Grover said to Lily. "How are you here? I thought you had work to do today," Lily asked. "I finished my work early and was on my way home. Then it seemed like it could rain, so I asked for help from Alex. Then Alex and Ian went to get you guys. I got here a few moments ago," Grover replied. "You people brought the girls?" someone said from the stairs. It's Rose, Ian's wife. She was coming towards us. Then she gave me and Lily a big hug and said, "I was waiting for you. I got you some hot chocolate. Let's go have them; you'll feel good. The weather is chilly." Then she dragged me and Lily to the kitchen. I was walking and appreciating the house decor in my mind. The house is really big and pretty. After drinking the hot chocolate, Rose suggested we watch a movie if we weren't tired. We weren't, so we said yes. Then Rose led us to the third floor and took us to a mini theater. Then we all found ourselves a seat and played a horror movie. I hadn't seen this one; it's a new movie that was recently released. After we settled, Alexander brought a bag full of snacks. Surprisingly, everything in it was my favorite. Then he sat beside me and whispered in my ear, "If you get scared, you can hug me. I am all yours." It came out of nowhere, and my cheeks became red instantly. "Thank god the room is dark and no one can see me blush," I thought to myself. I didn't reply to that or anything but thanked him for the snacks and eventually got engrossed in the movie. I like horror movies. There isn't a horror movie that I haven't seen. The movie is great, and the ending was unexpectedly expected. After the movie ended, Rose and Ian left for their room, and Grover showed Lily her room while Alexander showed me mine. The light was dim, and I was really tired by now to appreciate the decor. So I said good night to Alexander and went to sleep.
