6 - THE TREATMENT

Princess Erysthea is busy reading the personal files of the three princes. She doesn't even notice the time. It was already 5:00 in the afternoon and it was almost dark outside. All the people in the Ember world are now rushing to go home. It's a long day and everybody deserves to have some rest.
"Princess, you may now go back into your room. We will call you when the dinner is ready," her guardian said the moment he entered the study room.
The princess nodded. She took all the papers and silently walk outside the room.
Guardian Chase let out a heavy sigh. He can't take how the princess treated her. With the silent treatment, he's not comfortable. It's like he's in the middle of a fire and with one wrong move, he will be burned down.
"Princess, can I talk to you for a moment?"
Princess Erysthea took the courage to look straight into the eyes of her guardian. She was not ready for a serious talk so she just smiled.
"Am I not allowed to bring this to my room?" Princess Erysthea innocently asked.
"Of course, you can bring it," Guardian Chase responded quickly.
"That's great. I will just continue reading this in my room. Just call me when the dinner is ready."
The princess continued walking while her guardian just stared at her back walking away. He realized that the choice of his words affect the princess. She must be hurting that until now, she can't forget what happened.
The moment Princess Erysthea entered the room, she continued reading the personal files of the three princes. She was amazed at the backgrounds of the three. And to her surprise, these three were studying in the Universal Academy. It means that those three were currently residing in the Ignis Kingdom. As what was written on the papers, the three princes have one common house in the Kingdom. It was for the inconvenience of studying.
The princess suddenly comes up with an idea. Since she can use her teleportation ability, she can meet the three princes in person. She can change the mind of the three for them not to compete. Fixed marriage can be prevented.
The princess suddenly stopped thinking when she heard soft knocks on her door.
"Princess, the dinner is ready."
"Can you bring it here? I don't want to go down. I'm still busy here," she answered behind the door.
"You know it's not allowed, right? Whatever you're doing, a princess should be eating on the table," Guardian Chase said.
"Okay. Wait a minute."
The princess lazily put the paper down. She stood up and walk out of her room. She don't want to argue with her guardian so she just went straight to the dining room.
As usual, her parents are not here. She's used to it and she's not asking about her parents' whereabouts. She is happy if she sees her parents and if not, she's just fine with it.
"I'm done. Please don't disturb me in my room. I will study more about the three princes. So if you'll excuse me."
Guardian Chase nodded. "Okay, Princess."
The princess stood up and walk away without glancing at her guardians. Even the maids at the palace noticed the attitude of the princess toward her guardian. From the jolly and cheerful one, she becomes the coldest, and maybe the rudest princess.
Guardian Chase stood up also. He didn't finish his meal because he already lost his appetite. He just silently went to his room which is beside the princess' room. He lay down and stared at the ceiling.
He's been guarding the princess for 16 years. He already knows the strengths and weaknesses of the princess. Of all the people, he's the one who knows her the best. But at this moment, he doesn't know what to do. He doesn't know what the princess is thinking. It's like he just met the princess a few days ago. And this is driving him insane.
