Apha Kane was calm. "William, what you say is very serious. Take a seat and explain to us where you got this information."
Once seated, William resumed. "In the search for traces of his daughter, John discovered in the basement of a building, a room which serves as a hideout for suspicious people. By listening to their conversations, he discovered that they were lycans." He explained before continuing.
"This morning, John contacted me and explained everything to me. According to him, these lycans meet every evening, probably to take stock of the information collected. Tonight John and I were there. I wanted to check for myself."
"And what did you actually hear?" Kane asked.
"They were discussing an imminent attack by our pack without specifying a date. Some say they are under the orders of a certain Grendel." Added William
"This is an unforgivable affront. They are violating our territory and they are spying on us with the aim of attacking us. Alpha Kane, we have to do something." Condor stated vigorously.
"Yes Alpha." Added Memphis. "Now that we have confirmation of their presence in our territory and know where they hold their secret meetings, we must get our hands on these lycans as soon as possible in order to make them talk."
"I grant you that, but we must not act hastily. First, we need a plan." The Alpha said, calming the ardor of his betas.
"Speaking of a plan, I just have one and I want to show it to you," William said.
"We're listening to you William, go ahead." The Alpha said, nodding.
*** Darkfire
The next day, there was a different atmosphere within the darkfire pack. It was the day before Skylar's execution and Grendel could feel the effects of his Lycan campaign because almost everyone was talking about it.
This was not to the liking of Aric the Lycan king, who observed this effervescence from a window of the royal palace surrounded by two bodyguards, Grendel standing at his side.
Grendel, yes I gave you the plain powers, but why did you campaign and use lycans for a worthless werewolf? Werewolves are far too futile for us to pay so much attention to them in our own territory." The Lycan King declared authoritatively.
"My king, I recognize in your words the contempt that we lycans have for this species. But with all due respect, it is precisely because we despise them that we do not tolerate Asher's sin. face before the people..." explained Grendel before the Lycan king interrupted him.
"To me, Asher could have cut off that werewolf's head in her dungeon and it wouldn't have made a difference." Aric advanced.
Grendel clenched his fists, frustrated with the Lycan King's view.
"Nevertheless, what's done is done. If the people want the honor of the lycans restored in this way, so be it. Hopefully it's over and we can turn the page on this shameful episode and embarrassing." Finished the Lycan King.
Grendel bowed to Aric, hiding his displeasure at his remarks. "If you allow it, my king, I will return to my chambers."
The Lycan king waved his hand in approval, then he too moved away from the window from which he observed Darkfire City, followed by his two bodyguards.
Ginger, who was walking in the castle, crossed the Lycan king in a corridor. For her, it was a godsend. She bowed down to greet him.
"Allow me, my king, to take some of your time to ask you for a complaint," she asked respectfully.
"You can straighten up Ginger, I'm listening." Launched the king.
"Thank you my king," Ginger replied, getting up. "I know this isn't the place or the time to talk about it, but I may not get the chance anytime soon."
"What is it about ?" Aric asked.
"Well, before Asher went on a mission with the werewolves, we had planned to get engaged and plan our wedding as soon as he returned. Unfortunately, the conditions for his return are not very happy, and he must prove his loyalty to the pack. Never mind, I wish that when this was all over, you gave me and Asher the right to pick up where we left off with our nuptials." Ginger asked respectfully.
"I understand you, dear children. It goes without saying. The many events we are facing have given rise to the urgent need
Asher takes responsibility. Among other things, his marriage is part of his responsibility. Moreover, your wedding will give rise to a great celebration which will bring a lot of jubilation and will ease the tensions within our pack. So I don't see any objection to it," Aric replied.
"You have no idea how much your agreement means to me. My king, I will be eternally grateful to you. With that I will take my leave of you, my king. I will immediately see Asher", Ginger resumed, bending down again .
"Do as you see fit, my child. After all, Asher is your mate," replied the Lycan king.
Meanwhile, Asher was preparing to exit the infirmary. Seeing that surveillance had increased around him, he understood that he was not trusted and that it would only be possible for him to save his beloved and flee with her at the time of execution, unless a breach occurred in the meantime.
He was changing when Ginger entered his room, and hugged him around the back.
"How glad I am to see you up, darling." She said, rubbing against him, then turning around to face him.
"You know what? I have good news for you this morning. Remember the dream wedding we promised each other? Your father has agreed that we can organize them as soon as this is all over." She continued enthusiastically.
"Just that." Asher resumed curtly, which diminished Ginger's enthusiasm.
"Hey! I'm surprised you don't like it. Besides, I didn't have anything to offer, it was your father who told me about it himself." She said before continuing.
"He thinks it's going to make for a huge party that will appease the pack and bring joy. That's great, isn't it?"
"Ginger, I know you. It's only through you that he could have known about our nuptials. Taking advantage of unfortunate situations is so ingrained in your genes that you couldn't help but use my father precisely at this moment for him to pressure me about our marriage." Asher said, visibly disgusted.
"I assure you, I had nothing to do with it, sweetheart. Maybe you forgot you had told him about it. Besides, he was only proposing and not imposing," Ginger replied to calm him down before hugging him again. "Let's change the subject sweetheart. We will talk about that another time."
Ginger waited a moment, then continued.
“Yesterday I went to see that naughty werewolf again. And you know what? She hates you with all her soul. I tried to make her understand that she didn't know how lucky she had been to meet a guy like you, but nothing helped. She kept telling me that you manipulated her and that she was just a pawn in your game. I was shocked. When I had had enough, I left."
Asher seethed with rage hearing Ginger talk about Skylar. His words seemed to pierce his heart directly. Then she continued, squeezing him tighter.
"No matter what happens, my love, I will never hate you," Ginger said.
The day felt like an eternity for Skylar when night fell. She was going to be executed the next day and had spent her time meditating.
Asher was her last hope to make it out alive and reunite with her family. But would he come to help her escape or would he give in to the law of his pack as a son of the Alpha?
The night was still long for her to totally lose hope. While deep in thought, she heard sounds of struggle at the entrance to the dungeons.
Intrigued, she tried to push her head through the bars but they were too close together and only part of her face was showing.
She couldn't see anything and only her hearing could tell her. "Is Asher coming to save me?" she wondered.
It was then that she saw a male figure approaching running wearing a backpack and a balaclava, then the individual stopped in front of her cell with a bunch of keys.
"Asher is it you?" She asked, her face lighting up with hope and her eyes shining like sparks.
