Chapter Seventeen: A Single Flower Of Hope

[Madelyn: ...I'm sorry. I lost my cool there. You're cool too, Joseph. Brother. But please understand that I cannot sometimes give an explanation. Me and Yua will head that way, please safely arrive at your destination and I hope we all meet here again.

Goodbye, for now.]

Madelyn grabs Yua’s hand as she turns around and walks.

Yua complied, wondering what happened just now.

Madelyn was just- like justifying Yua. She never has seen that side of her sister before, not ever, it was almost like a dream, but yet it’s not, it's reality.

Yua, as much as she wants to thank her or even say anything, she keeps quiet in hope of not letting Madelyn’s anger rise up again, talking might trigger some PTSD in Madelyn.

They eventually stopped in a nearby fountain where other people are throwing coins in.

Yua wonders what the fountain is full of. Water? Coins? Or is it just an ordinary fountain that is littered by trash. The last time she saw a fountain, she looked inside it and there was a skeleton there, a real human skeleton.

It was later discovered that it was a kid who fell years ago and it has gotten unnoticed ever since until Yua discovered it. She fears the fountain due to that day, but it looks like the fountain has some kind of metal barrier that prevents others from falling, so that keeps her anxiety over fountains gone, just by a bit.

Madelyn takes a good close look at the inside and she was surprised that it was not filled by either coins or trash. It was filled… with blueberries?

[Madelyn: That’s strange. There’s so many- what I think are blueberries.]

[Yua: w...What? Blueberries?]

Yua attempts to climb the fountain but was helped by Madelyn, she was about to complain, but she looks away biting her lip, ignoring and forgetting what she’s about to say and looks inside what’s in the fountain and surprisingly enough, it is blueberries, and the fountain is filled with it!

[Yua: O-oh, i-it is blueberries]

Yua whispered to herself as takes a close look to see if there’s anything else there, but unfortunately there were nothing else left there, but for blueberries and they seem to be all fresh for some reason, so it must mean they were recently all placed here, or is it the blueberries here last much longer?

It’s still unknown, but it’s such a strange sight to see.

Another blueberry was thrown in that fountain by a demi-human, is what Madelyn knows what they’re called. They see the blueberry fall, but suddenly there is a second of light glowing before it dies off and back to its darkness self.

[Madelyn: That was a glow just now, meaning this is a wishing fountain, of some sort, and they use fruits to make a wish huh?]

They were interrupted by a lady who was wearing almost no clothing as she dropped a singular blueberry inside the fountain and the glow was once again seen.

The lady looks at them, and decides to greet them.

[Hi there! There’s so many berries huh? I wish I could have the same amount in my lifetime, it could be golden and a fortute! Don’t you think?]

Yua hearing that immediately assumes the lady was talking to her, and upon hearing that she doesn’t know what to respond or make up a sentence! She’s literally silent.

But lucky for her, Madelyn was the always talkative type.

[Madelyn: Oh uhm- wait, those- berries, is what you call them are… fortune?]

*?

[Now y'all confusing me or something? Of course it’s a fortune, I could guess if I had the amount of what’s inside here, I could literally buy land! If there is any land.]

[Madelyn: O-oh, so they’re like money, ehm- s-sorry for it ehh we’re new here, and we don’t know what exactly-

Madelyn was interrupted when the lady started to look closer at her chest, which got her confused and flustered! Usually she finds perverts disgusting at first sight when she’s not horny, but she’s already flustered when a female looks at it.

But the lady wasn’t looking at her chest, she was looking at the badge.

*!

[Ya oi! You’re a shield ay?]

[Madelyn: Uh… Yes, I’m a shield, or I guess in other words- t-the tank!]

[What a unique one I must say! I’m an angel! And from my experience I have never yaever seen a lady with class be a shield! You’re quite a surprising one, but yet asuthouning!]

The lady pulls out her badge and sees that it’s the exact same as Joseph’s badge, except it has some scratches on it and it’s very old but it’s still in recognizable state.

This was a surprise to Madelyn seeing that maybe there’s other people here that from earth like them since the badge proves it.

But to put it to rest, Madelyn decides to ask a question, something from earth, that no fantasy people would know.

[Madelyn: Uhm- I see, thank you, but can I ask you a question?]

*mmm.

[Madelyn: B-by any chance, d-do you live in E-Earth? I-I mean, like it’s a place where normal people are, w-with no- you know- I-I’m Half American and Half Japanese, but I turn to the American c-culture. Because it’s kind of my style.]

Madelyn waits for a response silently and hides her embarrassment but she was offered a weird hand position that confused Yua on what’s going on. But for Madelyn it was immediately like visiting an old place and meeting an old friend!

She took her hand and in sync both of them starts having this weird handshake and chant, which Yua finds scary, but eventually it end and both ladies looked at each other like old friends from a  long time, both of them scream in joy and starts to talk about things Yua once again has no clue what it means.

Yua decides to look somewhere else and sees that there is a singular flower growing from the rocks. She looks at Madelyn who seems to be busy, so she takes this opportunity to dash in there and looks at the flower blooming from the ground.

Upon closer inspection it’s very beautiful and it has a scent, a great scent of course, and it looks like it’s still alive. She kind of wants to pick it up as a thank you for Madelyn, but she doesn’t want this plant to be hurt, but on the other side she worries that the plant might be stepped on by a lot of people and therefore will die.

Madelyn noticed Yua was missing and she looked around only to see her nearby.

She raises an eyebrow at an interest in what Yua is doing so she excuses herself for a minute and decides to walk to Yua who is still looking at the flower wondering what she’s going to do with it.

Madelyn sits down near her and looks at her and the flower.

[Madelyn: So what’s important about this flower that you’re staring at it so much?]

Seconds of silence, she feels like Yua isn’t going to answer again and she might as well leave her to her own things since she seems to be focused on that flower-

[Yua: I’m worried about this flower, I think if I leave it here all alone, it’ll get crushed and eventually die.]

*!

Madelyn was not expecting a response but she gathers her composure and she answers back to her younger sister, hoping that Yua may change for the better in this world.

[Madelyn: I-I see… y-you know w-we can’t do anything a-about it, a-and besides If I was that flower, I-I wouldn’t mind getting hurt before my suffering finally ends.]

Yua looked at Madelyn with a confused look on her face, but just realizes it’s just her masochistic and maybe sadistic side of her appearing from the outside, she should really start to get used to Madelyn’s actions and questionable behaviours.

[Madelyn: So, if you ever want to save this flower, whad’ya think you should do about it?]

Yua looks to the side thinking, before looking at Madelyn but not really.

[Yua: I… I guess I should prepare a pot full of soil and stuff and carefully transfer the flower to the pot, and then maybe take it somewhere that will most likely not get hurt. I think that’s what I’ll do when I can save this flower.]

[Madelyn: I-I see you have some knowledge about plants, guess mom was right when you were going to school first before Liam, and before me I guess.]

The lady comes to see what’s up and she sees a flower and it looks like it’s just an ordinary flower, but for some reason they’re staring at it like they’ve never seen one before.

Well, maybe they really haven’t seen it before, but it shouldn't be surprising to see a white lily.

[Soooo, what’s y’all doing staring at a white lily flower?]

[Madelyn: Oh, hey! Uhmm, my sister was just concerned just now, she’s afraid that one day someone will step on this little thing and possibly die, but I do have the same mind to it, I hope it does survive when we can come back to pick this up safely and put it somewhere else.]

[Eh? Then why didn’t you say so? I have Earth Magic with me, and surely enough I can transport this flower wherever you two please]

Hearing that, Yua turns to the lady who seems to be confident with what she claims.

…

[Yua: y...y-...y.-yi-]

Madelyn looks at Yua and looks at the lady.

[Madelyn: Do you think you can do it now? Is probably what she’s going to ask.]

[Yah sure! Stand back now.]

Madelyn gets up and gets back with Yua.

The lady pulls out a stick and then by breaking it it suddenly turns into double wooden wands! With both having gems with a different color of blue and red.

“So that’s what magic is like”, is what insides Yua’s thoughts right now.

[Hell Kuna! Ground Separation!]

The lady pointed to the one with the red gem as the ground suddenly shaked for just now, and cracks were starting to form, and a perfect circle was formed in the ground leaving both sisters in awe when seeing that.

[That’s done! You can pretty much pick it up, best friend!]

[Yua: ? Bestfriend? You already made a friend here?]

[Madelyn: Oh uh that’s what we call each other in a fanbase we know, bestfriends, it’s complicated, and we’re not friends, unless…??]

[Yah, sure! I would like yalls friend, since friends do friends stuff, I guess I should tell ma name.]

The lady walks off and she turns around as she throws her staffs up in the air as she puts her left hand on her waist and points a finger with her right hand on the head.

[My name is Olivia! I’m an Angel from the Class-Perfectionist Party! I help my fellow teammates in battle and spend some quality time with them! Although you’re much more than I expected! I thought no one would have the same interests as me!]

Olivia catches both staff that just fell as she poses with them and eventually looks at the sisters bowing.

Yua was about to just die from the awkwardness but Madelyn clapped excitedly to which Yua kind of followed.

Madelyn stands up and just introduces herself normally.

[Madelyn: I’m Hanaka, please feel free to call me, Madelyn. But Hanaka is alright too since it’s my first name.]

[Olivia: Mhm, and what’s your sisters name?]

[Madelyn: Hanaka, but you can call er Yua.]

*?

[Olivia: That’s strange, double first names? Who thought of that?]

[Madelyn: Ehh, our parents. But we don’t mind it.]

A distant chime from the clock tower was heard.

[Olivia: Aw shoot! That’s the noon chime! I have to go now, Madelyn, and Yua. Too bad we couldn’t talk to one another for much longer.]

[Madelyn: I-It’s okay, after we explore the place, I’ll find you again, and maybe we can talk about our idols more!]

[Olivia: Sounds lovely! Oh by the way, welcome to Uonikk Square, take this, don’t worry I have more, and also don’t eat those! You can, but don’t. Aight, catch you and your sister on the flipside!]

Olivia combines her staff together and it gets turned to a broomstick.

She threw it up in the air and it landed next to hear floating.

She hops on the broomstick and immediately she zoomed about the place.

Madelyn waved goodbye to her.

Madelyn looks at Yua who is trying to hold up the rock that contains the flower.

Madelyn puts the pouce she was given inside her pockets as she helps Yua with carrying the rock.

[Madelyn: O-Oh it's heavy! Ngh! S-So Yua, s-should we return now and place this flower somewhere??]

…

[Yua: I-I guess so?]

[Madelyn: G-great! T-thu! Then let’s go!]

Madelyn struggles to walk back to the rest but eventually she gets a good grip on it and starts walking normally.

Yua was following, but she looked at the wishing well, staring at it for a few seconds before running and staying besides Madelyn.

And thus both are about to return to their siblings.
