It’s not until Lily slams her front door closed, and slides down the back of it that it really dawns on her what she just did.
“Eurgh” she groans, realising she probably should’t have handled it like that.
As she sits on the floor feeling a sense of sadness. She realises it’s due to Jake not being there.
She sighs and shakes her head, realising how crazy she was acting. She barely knew the guy, and yet didn’t want to be apart from him.
She gets her phone out and sends him a quick text message.
————
‘Hi I’m back home now. I hope you’re okay. X
————
She hits send, and seconds later a reply pings up. She quickly opens it and smiles at his response.
————
‘Wow, that was quick! I’ve got stuff I need to sort here. I will be as quick as I can. Please be safe. I miss you already.
:( xxx’
————
Lily quickly responds:
‘I will try. Miss you more xxx

Lily sighs and gets up off the floor. As she makes her way towards her bedroom she feels a strong breeze. She walks into the room and sees the window wide open.
She walks over to close it, confused as she is certain that she hadn’t opened any windows earlier.
As she turns around she looks on the bed and sees a note.
Walking over to it she sees only one word written. Despite it being only one word, it feels her with a sense of dread.
“Soon...” the note says.
Suddenly Lily hears the front door slams, she rushes out of her bedroom to look and sees nobody.
It dawns on her that whoever left the note could have still been in the address. She rushes to the window to look out, but sees nobody.
Lily rushes to the front door and bolts it. Rushing round the house checking everything is locked.
She calls Jake, and he answers almost immediately.
“Jake!” she sobs.
“Lily whats wrong!?” she hears him ask.
“Jake somebody has been in the house!?” she cries out. She hears a growl through the phone but Jake doesn’t say anything else.
“Jake?” she questions.
“Lily I’m coming for you, everything will be okay” he says in as reassuring tone as he can muster. At that he clears the call, and Lily sits on the bed. After a few minutes pass, Lily gets up and goes to the bedroom window.
Lily looks out, past the garden and into the field beyond. As she does, a movement draws her eyes to it. She screams when she sees the green eyes staring back at her.
The green eyes belonging to a wolf, an extremely large wolf. It’s coat gleamed in the sunlight, if Lily didn’t feel so scared she would have admired it’s beauty.
A loud banging at her front door suddenly draws her attention. She runs down and peers through the spy hole. Breathing a sigh of relief when she sees Jake’s worried face.
As she opens the door, Jake rushes in. Folding his arms around her. When she steps back, she sees he is not alone.
Three very large, attractive men stand behind him.
Jake kisses her forehead, takes her hand and leads her into the house.
She sees him sniff, and a growl ripples through his chest. He strides to the bedroom where he sees the note.
Picking it up he continues to growl. Lily can see the anger running off of him in waves.
His eyes have lost their brownness and are now pure gold. His jaw is clenched and he is shaking from anger.
Lily steps over to him and places her hand on his arm. Almost immediately his body responds to her, she can see him visibly calm down. He looks down at her, his eyes back to their normal colour.
He pulls her in tightly squeezing her against his chest.
As he stands back up, a movement out the window catches his eye. He rushes to the window, opening it and jumping out all in one quick movement.
Lily rushes forwards, and sees Jake shifts into his wolf as he lands on the ground. Two of the other three men do the same. With the three wolves running towards the field.
Lily turns around and sees one man still stood by her. He half smiles at her, in what is clearly an attempt to reassure her.
He ushers her to the living room and sits her down on her sofa, before dissapearing somewhere.
Lily stares into space, lost in her thoughts.
She is brought back to earth by a chuckle, and realises that the man is crouched in front of her clicking his fingers in front of her face.
“Earth to Lily” he says, with a smirk. She looks at him, and he hands her a warm mug. As she takes it she smells the delicious smell of hot chocolate. Lily smiles at him as best she can, and thanks him.
“I’m Lucas” he says with a smile, when she doesn’t respond he continues “and you’re obviously the great Lily I’ve heard so much about”. At that Lily blushes and buries her face in her mug. Lucas chuckles and places a hand on her shoulder, all of a sudden a menacing growl causes Lucas to snatch his hand back, making Lily look around to see Jake scowling at Lucas.
With another growl directed towards Lucas, he draws his attention back to Lily. Looking at her with concern etched into his face.
Lily looks over at Jake with a small smile, just having in the same room as her instantly makes her feel safer and happier.
Jake walks quickly over to where Lily is sat, he glares once more at Lucas and then kneels at Lily’s feet.
“Lily come back to mine, and stay there please? Even if I have to drive you to work from there!”
Lily smiles and nods at him, before muttering “I might have quit my job, so there’s no rush to take me to work tomorrow.”
With that Jake scoops her up and carries her out to his waiting car.
He slides into the back seat with her and the other three men jump in.
“Don’t be annoyed at me please Lily, but I’ve paid for Monty to be sorted for the next few days. After today I’m going to find it hard to let you out of my sight’ he sighs, pulling her closer to him.
It’s not until she was safely curled up against Jakes warm, solid chest. With the reassuring feel of his strong arms wrapped around her, that she finally felt able to breathe normally again. As she let out a deep sigh, she feels Jake tighten his hold around her and place a gentle kiss on here head.
