The morning breeze was cold as winter was fast approaching.
The trees swayed, dancing to the music only they could hear and birds chirped.
Ismene dragged her cold feet to her closet to pick out something she'd wear.
She had to look her best for the celebration so Maxdole would be pleased.
Earlier the week when she had gotten the news, she had gone with Radalf to the Pack's Stall to get herself some dress, and turned out, she got the best.
Dropping the red flowery dress on her small bed, she hurried to the bathroom to take her bath.
A few minutes later and she was done.
Her dress looked like that of a Queen and her eyes matched her dress.
She had red eyes, dark red eyes that made her more sexy and alluring.
The red dress clung to her skin as she applied her makeover.
Today was the day she'd leave her parents so she had to kill it, she had to make them regret treating her as if she were a slave.
Picking up her small bag from the bed, she gave the room a thorough look, and off she was gone.
Getting down the stairs, she could see Eline already set to leave with her golden dress and her clean shoe.
"Oh. Didn't know my sister went shopping for a new dress. Look at you." Eline mumbled, a glare on her face.
"Oh sorry for not informing her highness, I thought my opinion didn't matter," Ismene said, shaking her head as she sat down on the couch.
"You will dirty the..."
"Don't you worry sister dear, this dress is worth more than ten thousand dollars and will not in any way dirty the couch." Ismene cut her off, clicking her tongue.
"Better then, we wouldn't want to tell Dad that you dirtied the couch with a ten thousand dress. would we?"
"Not at all," Ismene said, enjoying the reaction she was getting from her sister.
Eline was a crafty b***h, more crafty than the devil.
Maybe she was a devil, after all, everything she had done to her could be classified as a devil's handwork.
A knock came on the door. Eline huffed as she walked to the door.
A hiss came afterward and her heels clank back to the couch.
"You might want to see who is at the door Ismene, I bet she's your friend."
Ismene rolled her eyes, walking to the door.
"Oh, good morning." She greeted, smiling.
"Uhm, good morning."
"Who are you looking for?" Ismene asked.
"Ismene." The girl said, smiling as well.
The girl had long curvy hair and her eyes were brown.
She looked cute and nice.
Well, she was yet to find out.
"I am Ismene."
"Oh, sorry for intruding. My mother asked me to come to get you. I am Ma Gretchen's daughter."
Her eyes widened and she smiled widely at the girl.
"Oh my, pardon my sister's behavior. She didn't know you were Ma Gretchen's daughter."
That was a lie.
Eline had been a disobedient child from birth but their parents overlooked her character.
At a tender age, she would bully other kids and cuss them till they cried their eyes out and knowing as Ma Gretchen has always been so strict with her. Ismene knew she would have pushed the woman's child out if she had known.
"I am about to leave for the annual celebration, my mother said you would love to go with me." She said, and Ismene nodded.
Being Ma Gretchen's daughter she knew the girl would be nice.
"Was that your sister earlier? She didn't look like you at all. Both beauty and character. Sorry to pry."
They were already on their way, the party was not far from their abode, and taking the forest path would be a lot easier.
"She's not my sister. I was adopted by her parents." Ismene mumbled her eyes on the branch that looked like it was about to a break.
"I'm Caitlin by the way and you're Ismene." The girl said and nodded her head.
"Ma Gretchen told me you live in the Lions pack. How does it seem to leave a place that is so horrible to come back to peace?" Ismene joked, smiling.
"Horrible? It is scary though but it's a nice place and it has plenty of nice places. The meadow is one of my favorites. I go there often when I'm not busy or when I'm free from the library. It isn't that bad as they say it is." Caitlin said, chuckling as she saw Ismene's reaction.
"Then why did you come back?"
"Because mother wanted me to. I had never liked this pack. Always bossing everyone around and making them do what he wants. That's what the Alpha does." Caitlin's voice was sharp which made Ismene narrow her eyes.
Was she talking about Maxdole? He wasn't bad and he certainly didn't force people to do what he wanted.
"I don't know where you heard those stuff and I'm not trying to convince you. But I just wanna say that Maxdole is not bad. He is a nice person and you'll get to know that sooner or later."
"That's what everyone keeps saying until you're faced with the truth and you don't even know what to believe. He's as evil as Alpha Alexander." Caitlin sneered.
Alexander? She had never heard of that name before.
No one in their pack had the name and she was sure the other Pack Alpha's name differed.
"Who is Alexander?" She asked.
"Are you seriously asking about him because you don't know or because you just want to know more?" Caitlin asked, her eyes clear with disbelief.
"Will it be a bad thing if I say I don't even know him?"
"Well with how you think and how you...I don't know, talk. I bet you don't know him."
"Wait a minute. How do I talk?" Ismene huffed.
"Are we there yet?" Caitlin asked, shaking her head.
"A little close," Ismene mumbled.
"And here we are." She announced, chuckling as she watched the latter heave a sigh of relief.
They took their seat in the first row, they were five rows and each row had Twenty chairs.
The first ten chairs were already occupied by some maidens.
"They say the front seat always brings luck."
"And what is your wish, Caitlin? You might as well say it and let it be known so the moon goddess would help you and give you luck."
"I wish I don't find my mate here. I don't want to stay in this pack anymore. I wish I can find my mate somewhere else and leave forever." Caitlin answered.
"Wow. That was a huge wish. I don't think that would be answered."
"You never can tell what luck had installed for you, can you Ismene?"
"True." Ismene smiled.
Her eyes went up and she saw the Alpha taking his seat in front of the guests.
The party was going to begin soon and it wouldn't hurt to go talk to him, would it?
Ismene bit her nails, something she did whenever she was thinking about something.
"Do you know the Alpha? I think he is staring at you." Caitlin whispered, feigning a smile as she watched the Alpha with hawk eyes.
"Uhm yes, I know him. He's my boyfriend." Ismene replied her lips pressed into a firm line.
"Ohh..." The girl answered and her eyes widened instantly.
"What the f**k? He's your boyfriend? You didn't tell me that and you let me cuss all day and insult him? What if you tell on me?" Her eyes widened the more.
"Quiet Caitlin." Ismene hushed.
"There's no way I'll tell on you and you didn't specifically cuss him...you were speaking randomly."
"So you were waiting for me to cuss him?"
Laughing at the reaction Caitlin had on her face, Ismene shook her head.
The girl was quick to be scared but yet her mouth was quick to talk.
"I think the party is about to begin." Ismene hushed her again as she was about to speak.
The party was being held outside the Alpha's mansion.
A beautiful decoration had been done and the women that were sitting on the chairs were beautiful.
Ismene wondered why she was sitting with these people.
There was no need to sit and wait.
Maxdole was the one that would mate her and nothing more.
"Arise young maidens and take a step from your chair." A voice commanded and they all did that.
Each takes a step from their chair.
"I present you the Sorcerer of the East. She will see into some people's lives and wish them a good life." The voice died and so did the drums and the flute, and then a woman walked into the place her dress purple in color and her hair tied like a scarf.
Ismene didn't like the woman at all.
She looked like a demon as her green eyes stared around.
She frowned when the woman's eyes settled on her and the woman pointed in her direction.
"Stealer!"
