Chapter 13: Confessions and Questions

Odessa

I awoke to find myself curled up next to Holden Silverlight. At first I was startled, before remembering the events of last night. After the Alpha Ceremony for Holden, I had planned on leaving but then I had ran into Holden. Maya had stirred long enough to tell me our mate was near.

I must admit I had been shocked only in my wildest dreams did I ever think that Holden Silverlight was meant to be mine.

Being as quiet as I can be I climb out of bed. Picking up a robe up off of a chair putting it on before quietly disappearing out of the bedroom door.

I couldn't believe that yes, Holden Silverlight had taken my virginity. But nothing else had happened, I was a little dumbfounded by it. I may be a stranger to s*x, but I knew that Holden wasn't. After the stories Kayley had shared with me as well as a few other she-wolves. I had expected him to want more, for it to be rougher, but he had been sweet and gentle.

I smiled at the memory of how gentle he had been. He didn't demand I pleasure him right away. He wanted to make sure I was ok with everything. Reminding me that mating was more then just s*x. He was really endearing, and I was extremely lucky to have him.

Going into the back of my Studio there were four easels each one had a draped cloth over the canvas. I needed to think and painting helped me think. I pulled the cloth off of the one closest to me. It was a morning sunrise over a mountain side. I started to blend the paints I needed and started with greys, purples and browns. As I was painting I realized what was bothering me, my wolf, Maya.

Where she had she been all these years? After coming forward to say our mate was near, why had she disappeared? Maya should have stayed in our head cheering us on, she should have been as excited as I had been. If she had been there last night maybe I would have found my nerve to go farther last night.

"Guess, I'm just meant to be alone." I said out-loud before putting paint to canvas again.

'You're never alone my child.'

I froze at the unfamiliar voice in my head.

'Maya?' I couldn't help but ask.

'No child, I am not your wolf but I am a part of you. Of all of you, my dear I'm aware of everything, everywhere.' The voice said to me in turn.

"Moon Goddess!" I exclaimed at her words.

She chuckled lightly in my head at the excitement in my words.

'That is right Odessa NorthStar, I am the Moon Mother. I plan out each mate bond, from the moment each one of you are conceived.' The Moon Goddess explained to me.

'Your wolf wants to be here with you. She however, is still healing from the terrible ordeal the two of you went through. It drained her of her power completely.' The Moon Goddess said to me.

'You mean the night the rouges attacked my pack?' I asked her throug the same mind-link she was using with me.

'No, my child I am speaking of the ordeal you survived eight years ago.' She replied back to my question.

My eyes widened when I realized what she was talking about. The terrifying day that Dr. Collin had caused me more harm then good with his electric shock therapy.

'That is right my brilliant young lady. I am ashamed to say, he had great promise as a skilled healer until he started to fall into the shadows. Ripley was right to banish him, before he harmed someone else. Maya, would be healed by now but she came forward a few times to help you out. The night of your shifting celebration and again tonight.'

So Dr. Collins had been banished from the pack. I had never known what had happened to him. I was just told that he had lost his title and privileges.

'Odessa, you and Holden will do great things for your pack and so much more. Give Maya more time, I know you crave to shift under the moon and run in its light. Your time will come soon. There are many things that will happen before it will happen. Maya, will be there when you need her most. I must go now child. Talk to your mate, share your feelings he will listen.'

I let out a breath as I went back to working on finishing the painting of the sun rising up over the mountain side.

Holden

I couldn't stop the smile on my lips as I took in the sweet and exotic scent of ginger blossoms, freesia and honeysuckle. My wolf, Derek and I had found our mate last night. In the most sweet and caring person we could ever ask for.

As I opened my eyes I realized that it was still dark out, the moon spilling its silvery-blue light into the room. The other thing I realized was that we were alone in the bed. Panic started to fill both my wolf and I. Until I remember one important thing. We weren't at the pack house, we were at Odessa's home. She had to be around here. We followed her scent to the adjoining bathroom; then out of the bedroom;down the stairs; through her studio.

The panic in my chest started to lessen, as I realized her scent was becoming stronger. As I continued to follow her amazing scent. I realized that there was a part of the studio that was curtained off from the rest, that was were Odessa was at.

Pulling the curtain back, I watched as she brought a paint brush to the work of art in front of her, in gentle slow strokes. I had been aware she had gone away to Art and Photography School. But never realized how talented she really was. The painting in front of her almost rivaled her own beauty.

I cleared my throat slowly as to not startle her.

"Penny for your thoughts?" I asked her aloud. She was twisting a strand of hair around her finger as she turned to glance at me before going back to her painting. Not saying a word to me. Finding a chair I sat down and waited for her to be ready to talk. It was clear something was on her mind.

"Do you find me attractive?" Odessa asked without looking at me.

"I find you very attractive." I responded back.

"Do you want to have s*x with me and mark me as yours?" She questioned.

"Yes, but only if you are willing and want it too." I said in return.

"Did you really not know I was your?" She asked me this time turning to watch my reaction.

"No, I had no idea. You scent has changed since you've come of age. So I had no idea it was you until we bumped into each other." I said truthfully.

"I've been dying to go for a run under the moonlight. A true run in my wolf form but I can't." Odessa confessed to me.

"If you want to go for a run in the moonlight. Then let's go, right now. We still have several hours, before sunrise." I said as I held my hand out to Odessa.

Setting her paint brush down she took my hand without questioning my words. That was until we made our way outside towards the dense woods.

"Holden, how am I going to go on a moonlight run with you. I can't shift yet, Maya isn't strong enough." Odessa confessed to me. I made a mental note to ask her what she meant by it.

"I know you can't shift, but I can." I said, as I made sure I was a safe distance away before shifting into my wolf form.

'We are much larger now that we are sole Alpha of the pack. Our man can ride on us tonight.' Derek said as he took in Odessa's small and curvy frame.

He walked toward Odessa as he got closer he got down on his belly and crawled over to her. He then whined at her, as he nudged her to him. It took her a minute before she understood what he wanted her to do.

"Wait are you saying you want me to ride on you?" Odessa asked. My wolf replied with a soft bark. Odessa then placed a hand in the scruff of our neck before swinging her legs over to straddle our back. Once we felt her other hand gently gripping the fur of our neck, we slowly stood up.

'Let's start out slow, Derek. We'll pick up speed as she gets comfortable with it.' I suggested to our wolf.

'Of course, this would be easy if we just mark her tonight. Then we could just talk to her. I have other questions myself. I can feel her wolf but something is wrong. I'm worried, we need to mate with them soon.' Derek said to me in a worried tone.

'I told you, I don't want to rush her. She's never been with anyone before.' I said trying to get him to let me do it my way.

Our internal discussion stopped abruptly at the sound of Odessa's soft joyful laughter. It was beautiful to hear.

I'm not sure how long we had been running for before be dropped down into a pile of leaves. Odessa giggles out loud as we did.

"Your your fur is so soft and warm. I barely felt the cool fall air." Odessa said as she rubbed her face in our fur. Causing a content rumble to come from our chest.

We growled softly we lost contact with her when she climbed off of us.

"Don't growl, I think it's time we went inside. I'm only have a robe on. I'm kind of hungry and I should talk to you about something before we decide to do anything else." Odessa said to us as she started to walk back in the direction of her studio.

We weren't having any of that, so shifting into my human form we came up behind Odessa and picked her up bridal style in our arms. Causing her to cry out in protest, we didn't let her say anything else. Before, capturing her lips with ours as we did so. We were just inside the door went Odessa pulled out of the kiss.

"You might want to sit down for what I need to tell you." Odessa said to us as we set her down on her feet.

I raised an eyebrow as I looked down at our mate in curiosity. What on earth would she need to tell me that would mean I needed to sit down?
