Chapter 16: Who You Are

A/N: This chapter mentions briefly the lost of a child. So in memory of all the little Angels lost we light a candle in their memory.

Odessa

As the first rays of morning started to peek through the curtains. I found myself waking up before Holden for a change. Grabbing on pair of jeans and one of my favorite, pink sweater with knitted roses on it. Slipping into the bathroom, I told care of all my morning needs before getting dressed.

Once I was finished, I quietly opened the door to check on Holden. He was still sleeping soundly so I decided to let him sleep. So I slipped softly out of the bedroom room. Making my way down to my kitchen. I took bacon out and place it on the grill tray of my air fryer as well as scrambled eggs to put in the air fryer. I popped a few bagels in the toaster, and readied the coffee in the coffee maker.

Once all that was done, I snatched the keys to my studio out of the drawer. As I looked down at my watch, my client would be here soon so I knew I needed to hurry. With finding my mate and learning that I could feel the mate bond and that my wolf Maya wasn't gone. I had almost forgot that I had set up this special time frame for a special friend of mine.

Anna Lang, was the only human I had ever made friends with. She wasn't part of my pack but she was indeed dear to me. A few months ago, when she was 5 months into her pregnancy she found out that her unborn baby had died.

Anna had called me in tears that day asking if I would be willing to do some photos of their late daughter. They had named her Angela Orella Lang. I had agreed. I had closed the Studio that day during their private shoot. Anna had brought her mother with her and her husband, Clint had brought his sister.

They would be here today to pick the photos I had done for her. I had a surprise for them a 8x12 canvas I had done a painting of their baby girl with her name and birthday September 13, 2028. On the painting in an arch above the image of Angela was the In Our Hearts Forever.

I hurried to unlock the door to the studio, before going back to get everything ready for pick-up. A few minutes later the door chimed to let me know the door had opened.

Anna walked in with Clint who had his arm wrapped around her. I gave them a soft smile as they walked up to the check out counter. I was about to hand them everything including the gift I had made them. Anna stopped me before I could give them to her.

"Would it be ok, if I saw them now, Odessa?" Anna asked me voice voice almost as whisper.

I handed her the box that I had put the picture collage in. As Anna untied the bow she gasped as she took in the college inside the box.

"Oh Odessa, its beautiful and perfect!" Anna exclaimed as tears built up in her in her green eyes.

Her eyes fell on the other box that was sitting along side there extra prints that got to put in a photo album.

"What's this I don't remember ordering anything else?" My friend as as she looked at me.

"You and Clint didn't Anna. It is a gift from me, you don't have to open it here. I know that all of this has be hard for the two of you." I said to my friends.

Anna glanced at me as she untied the ribbon on the box. Clint was the one who opened the box.

"You painted this Odessa, it's beautiful. How can we ever thank you?" Clint said as he started to lift it out of the box.

"You don't need to thank me I wanted to do it for you. Anna and you were my best friends while we were in college together." I said smiling at the two of them.

Clint returned the smile as he gently laid the canvas back into the box. Before giving me a hug, Anna followed suit and did the same giving me a hug.

"Don't give up hope. You'll have another blessing soon. You just have to have faith in it, Anna. I love you both take care." I said to my two friends hoping that I had some how given them a little hope.

As they were walking to the door, Clint stopped to look at me with a smile on his lips.

"Good luck with that new mate of yours and congrats Luna. You truly are something Odessa." Clint said giving me a wink.

I smile as I watched Clint help Anna into their car, through the glass door. I was startled out of my thoughts when a pair of strong arms wrapped around my waist.

"That was a very sweet thing you did for your friends. I'm sorry to here that they have been through such a heart breaking thing." Holden said he my ear as he pulled me against him.

"You heard and saw all that?" I asked my mate as he continued to hug me from behind.

"I did. Derek and I woke up when we smelled the scent of a WereBear in your Studio. I hope you were planning on telling me that you are friends with one?" Holden asked me.

"I'm sorry, when I graduated and came home I never thought I would see them again. Until Anna called me to tell me she was pregnant. I didn't hear from her and Clint again until Anna called to tell me that they had lost the baby." I admitted to Holden.

"You are really something else. A she-wolf making friends with a werebear who would have thought." Holden said to me as he smiled at me.

I turned myself in his arms so I could look at him.

"Holden, I want to be your Luna, but I don't want to lose who I am. I am not giving up my Studio, I'm not going to stop painting or my photography just because I'm a Luna. We will figure out a way for me to help you with pack duties and have time to paint and run my Studio." I said to Holden, my blue eyes never looking away from his hazel ones.

He just smiled down at me, as he caressed my left cheek with his thumb.

"Of course, we will sit down together with our schedules and go through them. Making sure that niether one of us schedules something the same day and time as the other. I would never want you to change who you are. Any Alpha who does that to his Luna is foolish and they don't deserve the Luna they were blessed with." Holden said to me as he captured my lips with his.

"We have time to figure all of this out. I would never dream of making you sell your Studio and business. You can hire someone to be a cashier for you. Maybe even hire another photographer that can help you with appointments. As for pack duties, Ethan's mate, Wren will be your female Beta. She be able to help you with your pack duties. For now we have us to focus on. I'm learning more about you and you can learn more about me." Holden promised as he lifted me up into his arms.

He then started to walk up the stairs with me. I thrill ran through me as I thought about just what he might have in mind.
