It had taken convincing, but finally, after hearing the whole story, Emma felt that her mother was in safe hands. Both she and Taylor immediately felt sorry for the runaways and offered to help in any way they could. Megan felt pride well up in her chest. Her daughter was such a caring person, and willing to help those less fortunate than herself.
“I think the best thing the two of you could do is help keep the kids occupied and their minds off their troubles. If Charlotte told you last night she had a new project to work on, it’s a safe bet it concerns Sammy and Toby. Why don’t you follow Lucy and Paul over to her house? That will give us a chance to work through the logistics of our plan.”
“Of course, we’ll do whatever you need us to, Mom. Aiden, please take care of her.”
