Alledandro and his crew weren't interested in the first few items auctioned. They came here for something else, so they didn't bid for any of the items.

“Here now, we have the blood diamond, a rare treasure among treasures, very limited in the whole world. The bidding price started at five hundred thousand dollars”. Silence spread around the hall, the price was not something everyone could afford, so a few backed down.

“Six hundred thousand dollars,” a voice calmly spoke from the back. It was Raphaelo, the leader of the Usurpers.

“Seven hundred thousand,” another voice spoke at another angle of the hall, turning heads towards there to see a lady in red attire and mask sitting calmly sipping her wine.

“Seven fifty thousand,” Raphaelo spoke again, this time with anger in his voice. He wasn't going to be disgraced the second time today, nevertheless by a woman.

Before the woman could speak,” One million dollars,” a calm, domineering voice cut to the front, the hall turned silent as there was no mistaking whose voice that was.

The Shadow has already made known his desire to acquire the jewel and no man in his right senses would want to anger him over it.

“Sold," the host spoke after a minute of silence.

“Now, ladies and gentlemen, the last auction for the day. She is a fiery one, a sharp tongue and smooth body to keep your bed warm if need be,” he smiled mischievously. “I give you the fiery damsel."

A lady was dragged into the hall, bound by ropes and a collar on her neck, red hair like a volcano about to erupt, smooth and pale skin like the moonlight, red lips like berries, and eyes like sapphire gems, with bountiful blossoms on her chest.

Alledandro smiled a devilish smile, the type a predator gives to a prey, and he spoke “five hundred thousand” then got up from his seat and started making his way towards the exit.

Nobody wanted to anger the Shadow, so they all quit trying to bargain for the lady and slowly the underworld lords began dispersing as the event was already concluded.

Still seated in the hall, Raphaelo's bloodlust leaked as the humiliation he faced from the hands of ‘The Shadow' couldn't stop replaying in his mind.

“Just wait, Shadow, you shall have the taste of revenge even if it's the last thing I do” Raphaelo swore before leaving the premises with his guards.

“Meanwhile, in his car, Alledandro turned back and looked at the entrance,” Hmmm, that's odd, I could have sworn I heard my name being spoken earlier."

“Maybe it's the other lords discussing you, sir, but as always, never brave enough to say it to your face,” Mike spoke while fixing his seat belt.

“Well, that's just the way of the world, the strong rules the weak. Have the diamond delivered to me at the club, I can't keep them waiting,” spoke Alledandro while adjusting the tie of his suit.

The car drove off, while another car transporting the said lady took the opposite direction on a path heading out of the city.

The lady couldn't help but feel anxious and worried, a thousand thoughts pressing her down.

Many preposterous thoughts kept running in her head till the vehicle stopped. She had not known how long she might have been having her mental struggles, but it was certain a lot of time.
