Chapter 32: Inflicted

1073 Words
The goosebumps run wild all over his skin while experiencing an unusual pattern coming from the Field Boar that should suppose to be the leader of the group. Arion even keenly looked at the status bar of this specific boar and found out there's nothing wrong with it. Monster: Field Boar Leader Type: C-Class HP: 162 MP: 56 Wisdom: 1% Strength: 4% Dexterity: 1% Luck: 1% The status was truly mediocre and follows the typical path of a role-playing game where the first stages monsters were literally so weak. And since it's his first time adventuring outside the magical world, he guessed the first logical thing to do is to farm some materials and create inventions. There isn't any kind of experience system or whatsoever so the rational choice is to create inventions along the way to level up. However, he remembered he accepted a quest that should be harder than S-Class quests posted on the Guildhall's news board. "This is so weird and strange, I don't fricking need any tricks to tell that boar is dangerous, I mean it got the eyes of a savage murderer." Arion's intuition would never be a mistake since the one who murdered on earth isn't the first who tried claiming his head as a trophy. Countless killers, professional fighters, and even genociders were sent to his laboratory or tail him whenever he goes for shopping secretly. There's always someone who wanted his dead body so he knew instinctively those who want his death by sensing their aura and overall demeanor. The good thing about this risk is he developed spatial awareness and further enhanced his ability to perceive deadly intent even if the killer is behind him. Nevertheless, only her girlfriend, a professional killer has successfully claimed his demise, yet she was also killed by a truck, which is pretty pathetic for someone who killed the greatest inventor of the modern age. "This is the worst..." Arion stepped back and signaled his companions with a compelling beckon. "Lilith, prepare for the Wall of Flame and Adriel, I saw you are carrying some status-up potions, go give us those right away!" He already checked her bag and their belongings beforehand for the worst-case scenario. The tension was elevated at another threshold, Adriel couldn't find the reason why she needed to use her delicate potions fighting some wild boars roaming within the plateau. "Get lost! My potions are expensive, we can only use those when we are facing the mythical beast, not with these inferior animals." Adriel rebuffed him. At the same instance, Lilith sedulously listened and chanted her magical spell. "Protect us against our fear: Wall of Flame!" She circled her staff and double-layered magic circled inscribed under her magic signature swirled around them producing a thin wall of flames that prevents the Field Boars from assailing them. "C'mon! We're not playing games here." Arion resorted to being forceful swiping every potion vials she got in her waist bag and gave some to Lilith as well. He drank a handful of strengthening potions that have the attached sticker saying it raises dexterity and luck. "You're going to pay for the ingredients I used for this!" She was so infuriated, recycling the vials and returning them in her waist pocket. "Fine, I'll give you anything you wanted just become proper support for now, or else we'll be dead meat." He quickly sorted out the situation, focusing intently on the remaining threat at hand. The Shadow Weaver, Yuna was hiding behind the shadows looking for the perfect moment she will appear. Not only she distinguished Arion was right, but she also learned the Field Boar leader is not a normal monster based on its outward appearance.  "Be safe Arion..." Yuna whispered and once again blended amidst the shades of light. Without wasting any more time, Arion once again assailed the Field Boar leader as the other boars did another pincer attack. What he did was jump slightly and with a sidestep, he strikes the vital point of the boars upper-forehead where if a certain part of their skulls cracks a little bit, a trigger will be done rendering them asleep. This is a custom martial arts technique to subjugate a moving fighter when they are at a lower guard, and he recreated the move since he doesn't have enough speed and strength in the first place. "Logically speaking, without my Mechanical Exoskeleton, my arms should be broken right now." Arion charges aiming for the head of the Field Boar leader straight ahead when he felt another deadly intent. "Hey! I somehow killed the other Field Boar, go ahead and kill that one..." Suddenly, Adriel went from a boisterous lady into a silent bee when the other boars on the field began to flee on their own. Nevertheless, the only Field Boar that was left is the leader Arion was targeting from the beginning. It was standing in front of them without moving an inch as if it was sensing everything around the area. "This is...!" Arion once again drew back that not as the extreme pressure was pressing against his chest, then a piece of message information appeared on his line of sight. [ You've been inflicted by Fear  ] It suddenly became hard breathing just for him as he knelt down in the ground chasing his beating heart. "What is happening to me...? This is not right..." "No... not again..." Lilith's knees shook so hard she couldn't help but fall kneeling. "I forgot that the mythical beast can shapeshift into different forms... If my hunch is correct..." Adriel thought Arion was just being dramatic, now that it also happened with Adriel, she knew the situation was set on a higher stake. "I must be wrong underestimating our adversary. Here, take these potions with you. The vials containing blue recovers mana, and for the vials that you are holding Arion, which has an orange fluid, it strengthened the overall physical capabilities." Adriel dispensed her treasured potions, after all, she brews such items for the circumstances they can't handle like what they have to suddenly face off. "I know I would look dumb, but stop hiding as a Field Boar and show your true form!" Arion affirmed his theories. Then after a few seconds, a loud echoing hysterical laugh was sent directly in his head. The Field Boar began shapeshifting into a form of a fox that gradually becomes bigger each second. "So, this is the mythical beast. I no longer wonder why it is called mythical in the first place," Arion said before he clenches his fists tightly than ever, prepared to face an impossible monster.
