Chapter 29: Thousands

1034 Words
A miracle happened right before their very eyes when the supposedly dead wizard suddenly rose up in a jerk after Arion made him drink the health potion and slapping his face as a clutch. "I'm... alright?" Calix wasn't sure what happened but he's probing his entire body to see if it's true that he's alive once more. "Wait Arion... besides your expensive or possibly rare high-quality potion, how come you revived him from his imminent death?" Adriel had never witnessed a miracle of one-and-a-hundred probability. Lilith knew exactly the taste of the potion and she couldn't believe she drank something so valuable. However, at the eyes of the beholder, Arion already understood that death is not the case as he had seen from his HP indicator above his head. Name: Calix Level: 45 Class: Fire Sorcerer Rank: Sorcerer HP: 4539 MP: 2342 Debuffs: None The previous Health Points was exactly 159 and now after drinking the entire potion, it rose up to 4539 and it continually regens at a high rate. Arion could fully understand that the numeral value in the system known as HP is the state of the body whether how near they were from the approaching death. As he learned earlier, its count must have some soft cap preventing them to become healthy more than they can achieve, except if they train really hard. With this new discovery, surely he could have guessed that the Mana Points or MP works exactly the same but instead of lifeline, the numeral value is somehow connected with the amount of mana they possess. Arion swiped his status information so he could clarify that his deductions and theories are correct one last time. Name: Arion Aldrehrt Level: 2 Class: Creator Rank: Spellcaster HP: 1150 Inventions: 1 Wisdom: 50% Strength: 25% Dexterity: 20% Luck: 5% Aside from the fact that he's already level 1 when he got his first-ever invention that is none other than the Infinite Core which makes his level to 2, he can also behold he doesn't have any kind of MP or numerical value of it; implying it must be the reason why he can't use or cast a single magic spell. "Scientifically speaking–" Arion remembered his audience doesn't know the word science, rephrasing his sentence as layman's term. "What I'm telling is that Calix didn't die. When people faint because of paranoia, their brain restricts the flow of air circulating inside the body that could lead to death, but it can be saved by simply waking them up." Somehow, a health potion can restore wounds restoring their Health Points during the process, which is a pretty good item to be used for survival in a medieval world where the existence of magic truly lives. "You have the accurate knowledge and wisdom in the face of a critical situation, I must say you are rather quick on the uptake, aside from your missing mana aura, I humbly ask you to finish this quest at once." Welven, the Supreme Magister had seen his talent and right off the bat ordered him to accept an almost-impossible mission. "Ugh... I hate breaking the mood, but can't you see I'm an Apprentice? The lowest of ranks." Arion grabbed his clothes and pointed out his bronze rank emblem signifying his current achievement. "Thou shall not fool your own eyes... I merely looking at you deeper than your soul and heart, for I can tell you have the strength needed." They can't believe Arion already got the Supreme Magister's attention. Now, Arion determined the Supreme Magister isn't called 'Supreme' just for show. In fact, the Infinite Core he had hidden inside his pocket is reacting with mild vibrations he surely can sense. "Okay then, we just have to defeat this mythical beast, right?" Arion sounded haughty. "According to the rumors, this beast can instantly devour a human, regardless of their defenses or armors such as adamantine plate and diamond pouldrons." Welven heard from the gossips. There is no evidence of what kind of monster is it or what kind of beast could obliterate an entire party in the blink of an eye, and only the one who survived from this atrocious beast can tell its true nature. "No..." Lilith tugged Arion's clothes. "That beast is more than we can handle... I don't want to lose any more of my companions..." Her voice is trembling and one can tell from her sobbing that what she experiences traumatized her mind. The party master, Marget is merely the incarnation of the Goddess of the Althas Kingdom acting as an overseer, and Adriel lost to Arion depriving her of the right to choose decisions for the party, which means he shall be the one who decides whether they will accept the quest of impossibility. Although the choice was clear the moment he heard Lilith's wails. He patted her head with his left hand and covered half of his face using the other. "That's the more reason why I should fight. Not just me, but together with Adriel. And Marget and Sarra shall support us." This sparks new hope for Lilith who suffered from such an incident. Normally, he already knew it's a bad idea to let her undergo again on the quest that changed her entire life. Besides, Arion had an ulterior motive of learning the strength of the monsters or beasts roaming outside the kingdom. If he truly was reincarnated in a magical world with his flesh intact, he was thinking about what kind of enemy he must face in the future for he knew the slimes he fought were the lowest of low. "I promise in the name of the Goddess, I shall bring an end with this thread of chaos!" Arion declared raising his hand with a punch. Fooling around from a famous line he read from a novel, Arion kind of played with the flow of events going on around him so he would look cool when heard by his companions and the other in the Guildhall lobby. However, what Marget saw was the sincerest protection of a man she forced into a magical world. The light he conveys within his heart rivals thousands of stars flaring his compassion. As one of the four Goddesses, she appreciated his presence despite not knowing each; hoping he could overcome the harsh truth he must face at all costs. "So this is the reason why I chose you amongst thousands of possible candidates... Arion Aldrehrt."
