Chapter 39: Intel

1016 Words
An unusual air is going on between them, Welven took the liberty of addressing the current awkward situation. "Sorry for the negligence of my comrades and their whimsical actions." He expressed his sincerest apology by taking his right hand onto his left chest and bowing down to them. "Nah, don't mind it, we aren't troubled at all," Arion said but Adriel and Lilith were sweating in a corner. "It seems you're an open person. Well then, please introduce yourselves to our guests today." Welven gestured to them and the first one to stand up is the silent guy sitting on his chair the moment Arion and his companions entered the room. "Hugh Alcid. Brown Wizard." His primer is as short as the split-seconds he stood and sit. It doesn't look like he's cold or anything, he just uses fewer words and prefers being silent. He's currently staring at the table with his eyes firmly straight open. Later the boisterous man next to him waved his palms in front of everyone's faces and said. "The name's Reihart Kei, known as the wizard who captivates everyone's heart, regardless of gender, for I am equal!" He flickered her fingers and flurries of rose petals stormed inside the room. Then the silence took over when his little magic tricked littered the entire room for good. "Argh, as I always remind you, never litter when it's my cleaning day!" He got a really weighty good pounding from the cheeky lady that approached Arion earlier ago. "What's your problem?! And how many times do I need to tell you not to hit me on the head, you succubus witch!" Reinhart was irritated and they began pushing each other by forehead. "That's sick, and you're a succubus?" Arion's more interested he met a succubus for the first time, which is probably the greatest fantasy of any man across the earth. "My, my," She licked her lips insinuating her affection and proceeded from not minding Reinhart at all. "Sorry for the commotion I've caused, my name's Fey Serendin, and I'm a succubus! Would you like to spend the night with me?" Arion blinked twice and thrice, and for the fourth flicker, Fey was already behind him touching his chest in the most lascivious way. The way things are going, Adriel would definitely step up but Yuna got behind her and pointed her dark-imbued dagger to her neck warning her off. "Would you not touch him like that again? The next time you do, blood will splatter." It was the first time Arion had seen Yuna so defensive. Little did he know the moment they reincarnated and parted ways, she's been spectating and observing what's he's up to, more like of a stalker perhaps. Still, this surprises Fey who certainly never felt her presence. She knew the human that's threatening her has the ability to hide her identity and existence altogether. "Quite an assassin we got here, eh?" Fey returned to her seat without making any trouble. "At least, we can still, you know, later at night." She winked once at him that did not just incur Adriel and Yuna's ire, but also made Lilith pout for her straightforward manner. "And lastly, Yulia Miscovich is the name of the diligent Magister who went out. She truly hates gathering like this so if you'll excuse her." Welven himself told her name. "Understandable. So, mind telling us what's gonna happen from now on?" Arion's keenly scanning their bodily movements, words, inflection, and everything about them confirming if they can be trusted. "First of all, won't you ask why I suddenly sent you to that dangerous mission?" Another enigma entails when the Supreme Magister became serious all of a sudden, so does his fellow Magisters as well. The situation has elevated a higher threshold since Arion discovered Welven initially planned everything according to his scheme. In retrospect, he unveiled a part of him that he knows more than what it looks like from the outside. "I guess you must be chasing after the Mythical Beast that's causing trouble to the kingdom's outskirts, is it not? It appears you also don't know what kind of monster is truly is." Arion hinted. "Were you just using as a sacrificial party?" Adriel sticks her nose to where it should belong. The party master, Marget remains silent since she's the incarnation of the Goddess, and it's the fact her knowledge of the situation is far ahead than anyone, yet only Arion fathoms her chasm. "Your guess is quite accurate, though it goes astray out of the main idea." Welven clapped twice and without a blink of a second, harpy maidens wearing flashy maid outfits came in and served them a tea set. "What main idea were you implying?" Arion moved his right hand and relished himself of a fresh cup of green tea. Meanwhile, Fey gaped upon seeing how accurate his artificial arm moves without the use of magic or anything. "You see, we are not chasing the beast, for we are seeking its whereabouts." Welven quickly finished his tea to get into details. "This strange mythical beast can actually detect a mage's magical power, and through this, he ignores higher tier wizards but strangely enough, it targets weak spellcaster." The missing pieces of the puzzle that Arion conceived have fixed over the matter of the situation. "192... and 20..." He muttered under his nose. "191? Is that some sort of code?" Welven frowns, he's aware Arion is hiding something that he also couldn't tell his companions. "No, I only remembered a number from nightmares..." The great fear that shook his soul to the core, he would never forget the devourer who ate at least 191 different mages and spellcaster from the Althas Kingdom. Amongst those numbers, there were 20 chosen, that happened to be reincarnated in this world, and ended up as the monsters fodder. He felt lucky that he only lost both his arms and one eye since he believed he would have already ended not until when Yuna interfered. But he's imagining every day and night if he made one more mistake after he admitted his defeat, then it will be all for naught. "Tell us the reason why you are 'seeking' this mythical beast... and I'll give you my intel in exchange."
