Chapter 7: Added companion

The mages were obviously aren't ordinary ones when they draw out their weapon consisting of knives and staves. Arion almost forgot that this world has the concept of magic, and therefore it's likely these rabbles has also the ability to use magic like the other common citizens he saw after he set foot in the Capital of Althas Kingdom. Thinking back for a minute, the knights who blocked his way has the audacity to judge him based on his appearance when they can't handle these evildoers that were freely roaming the city. Well, he really can't expect that much since the elf lady was a slave, meaning, they won't care even if the knights saw what kind of violence they forced her from experiencing. Nevertheless, Arion took the stance of a black-belt martial artist. He was driven to learn self-defense when he debuted during his first revolutionary invention. In order for him to fend off those who wanted his head in a case where there'd be no bodyguards that shall protect him. The reverberating circular gears that were installed on his chest perfectly fit his inhalation and exhalation, allowing him to be calm from facing many opponents at once. He thought he'd face off monsters or some sort after reincarnating, he just never expected that his first opponents will be pitiful humans who knew nothing of kindness. "Come to me." Arion provoked them this time. And that was the moment when he noticed some floating text and values above their heads. Rank: Adept Apprentice HP: 1357 MP: 2169 Status: Hidden ( Must be a companion or using detection magic ) The system interface about them was pretty much the same ranging from 1000 to 2000 HP and MP. Without prior knowledge about this kind of stuff, Arion's pretty sure the HP means Health Points that has something to do with the flow of life itself, which means if it went to zero, it's obvious they'd die, while the MP pertains to Mana Points as they can use this for casting magic or manipulating the elemental attributes. He can't see their name maybe because they haven't become companions yet, as if they'd be in the first place 'cause he really hates them. Nevertheless, he can also see the information of his first companion, his girlfriend in his previous life, although he can't see her name because of her cunning concealing magic. Wondering about it, Arion must have assumed it was part of her power system since she's an assassin before she died. Something like 'Shadow Weaver' was her title as far as his memory can remember. Based on the name of such a class, he believed that hiding identity is part of her passive skills. Now he also looked above his head and witnessed there's nothing of the same information interface about his status. "What's this...? I can see their status and some were hidden, so why I can't see mine?!" Arion was mildly irritated by the fact he can't see the data regarding his status. He tried swiping different navigation panels left and right, towards the inventions branches of nodes and everything possible to the point he looks like a crazy person fighting the air from outside. "What is he? He's not intimidating at all, but his weird body armor... it looks sturdy." Their leader cannot sense Arion's magic aura while he also fears his eccentric-looking mechanical armor carapace encompassing his body that they have never seen before. "Should we attack him?" The other guy from the left told. "No, we shall wait... we'll make a mistake if he's one of them..." They were cautious of him because they haven't identified yet if he's part of the Althas Kingdom. Skimming and rummaging over in this system interface, Arion clicked a random indicator out of nowhere and a handful of gold coins slipped out of his arms. "Hm...?" He noticed the amount of gold he had on his inventory interface dwindled down when he tried releasing more of his currency. "I have.... 10,000 golds. Is it that many? Wait a minute..." While Arion's at it, his disposition won't allow himself to beat up the foolish mages in his presence, and rather he became practical once he discovered he can use the golds he had. For him, violence is not always the answer. If he let his rage take control of him, then his knowledge and wisdom will be for naught. "Compression magic?!" The mages backed off. Before anything escalates into a circumstance Arion couldn't handle, he proposed them a bargain that will fix the situation. "Well, she's slave, right? Here." With a flicker of his fingers, he took the 5,000 golds out of his sweater that littered the ground up to the Guildhall's threshold. "I will buy her with all this!" He's quite disappointed he has no chance of using his first armament, the Mechanical Exoskeleton, but for now, the safeties of the elf lady is at precedence. After all, he provoked them just for them to stop hitting her. These shameful rabbles began collecting the golds he offered. "Fine! Get her if you. If she's still alive." He mocked Arion, and of course, there's no way it would work on him for he deems such ridiculous insults means nothing. Forgetting their pitiful existence, he immediately went beside the wounded girl that had her eyes almost shutting down. He held him under his embrace and observed the bruises and wounds all over his arms and legs from protecting herself. "Are you okay? Of course not. Why the hell did I ask..." Despite the dirt and her bleeding nose, Arion was captivated by the girl's emerald eyes and long ears, her race really is an elf. "I'm okay..." It was the girl's first words towards him and yet it was a lie. Obviously, as plain as day she's not fine, and he felt dumb for asking if she were in the first place. "Let us first sit here." There was a wooden bench near the announcement chart board. Arion let her sit there. While he was rummaging through his system inventory a while ago, he found valuable items that might help her condition. Reading the flavor text, and the symbolic icon of a red spot, he's sure it must be a healing potion. Just like how he hauled out his cold coins, he pulled a healing potion through his hands. Note that he's still wearing his Mechanical Exoskeleton as if it became a part of his flesh. "Here, drink this." Arion popped the cork of the healing potion for her and made her drink it forcefully while her head was lying on his lap. The bruises all over her body began to regenerate like a typical healing potion. But for him, he's currently freaking out internally that he can't deduce how does it even works, a part of so-called magic. And then she woke up in a jerk unaware of what just happened. "Huh...? My wounds... they were healed?" She was surprised and shocked simultaneously. "You, what's your name?" Arion directly asked. The elf girl hasn't thanked him yet, she clumsily stood up and bowed down saying. "I'm Lilith Indelyen! I appreciate for helping me earlier..." "I'm Arion Aldrehrt. Then, Lilith Indelyen, from now on, you are mine!" Arion declared notwithstanding the situation. "Wha–?!" Lilith blushed beet-red. She's aware that since she was bought by him, then he cannot disobey him no matter what or else she'll be punished, or so she thought. After their first encounter, Arion held her arm and dragged her around towards the Guildhall. She mistook his compassionate words, stirring up her heart. Careless what's the string of fate led them, he resumed his first mission which is to become a mage. [ Added Companion: Lilith ]
