Buy You for a Night
“Mark, let’s break up,” Chloe Taylor said with a slight smile, a hint of disdain flashing in her eyes. “Break up? Give me a reason,” Mark Perez frowned, staring at the alluring woman in front of him, utterly clueless about what had transpired. “A reason? Ha!” Chloe chuckled softly. “It’s simple. When have you ever seen me take a relationship seriously? But you’re lucky—you’re the one I’ve dated the longest. Look at my previous boyfriends; none of them lasted more than three months.” “Just a game?” A cold glint appeared in Mark’s eyes. “Chloe, are you comparing me to those other men?” “Is there a problem? Aren’t you a man?” Chloe asked innocently. Mark clenched his fists tightly. “Chloe, you think you can toy with me? I’ll make you pay for this.” He practically spat the words out, grinding his teeth. He had always been the one playing with women, and now this woman was turning the tables on him. Even if it was over, it should be on his terms. “We’re all adults here. Why take it so seriously?” Chloe left behind a mocking smile as she turned and walked away with grace. “Hey, Harper, come to Elysium Bar and drink with me,” Chloe commanded into the phone, hanging up before getting a response. The city lights glowed brilliantly as night fell. Elysium Bar was already packed, filled with vibrant music and dancing. “Chloe, stop drinking already. What’s going on?” Harper Clark grabbed Chloe’s glass, worried as she saw her friend’s distressed look. “Let me drink. I just had a breakup. What? Can’t a girl drink after a breakup?” Chloe snatched the bottle, downing several gulps. “Breakup? Did Mark break up with you?” Harper asked, astonished. “Break up? I dumped him, alright?” Chloe immediately retorted, her unsteady feet wobbling. “Careful,” Harper supported her, fearing she might fall. “Harper, how do men manage to say one thing and do another? Do you know what I saw this morning? I saw my boyfriend with my sister,” Chloe said with a breezy tone. But Harper knew that the more indifferent Chloe appeared, the more it meant she had genuinely cared. Chloe recalled the scene from that morning when she went to Mark’s office and found her stepsister and her boyfriend engaged in an unforgivable act. One was her seemingly delicate and pure stepsister, and the other was the first man she had ever wanted to commit to. Yet they had betrayed her so blatantly. She had no desire to expose them and would not let such a matter steal away her usual composure. “Chloe, forget about a man like him. You deserve better,” Harper gently patted Chloe’s back. “Of course, I don’t care at all. It’s just a man. Three-legged frogs are hard to find, but three-legged men are everywhere,” Chloe, clearly tipsy, replied. “Alright, stay here. I need to use the restroom, then we’ll head home.” “Go on, go on.” Chloe waved her hand dismissively. “Remember, don’t wander off. Wait for me to come back,” Harper reminded her sternly. Chloe had never been one to follow instructions. As soon as Harper left, she stumbled off, not knowing where she was going, and soon bumped into someone. “Ouch!” Chloe rubbed her head and looked up to see a stern face staring down at her. “Wow!” Chloe couldn’t help but exclaim. Oliver Thomas, standing nearby, glanced at the scowling Jacob Garcia and silently sympathized with the woman. “Hey handsome, what’s your name?” Chloe hooked her arm around Jacob’s shoulder, or rather, she hung off him due to their height difference. Oliver’s eyes widened as he watched the scene unfold. “Am I pretty, handsome?” “Very,” Jacob replied expressionlessly, not bothering to push her away. For some reason, her unique scent made him unwilling to let go. Pretty? Oliver stared at Jacob as if he were a monster. This was not normal, not at all. “How about I buy you for a night? Don’t worry, I’ve got plenty of money,” Chloe patted her chest confidently. Oliver swallowed hard. What was the world coming to? Seeing Jacob’s silence, Chloe grew impatient. “Are you playing coy? You men are all the same—saying no with your mouth while your body says yes. Don’t worry, I’ll make sure you’re comfortable.” Oliver: “…” Shouldn’t these lines be coming from a man? He hadn’t been home for a month, and the world seemed to have turned upside down. “Second Young Master, you brought your brother to such a place for his welcome party. Aren’t you afraid he’ll snap your neck?” Oliver silently worried for Caleb Garcia. “Well, what’s your answer?” Chloe lifted her flushed face, her eyes dreamy and unfocused. “Yes.” It was a simple yet powerful answer that left Oliver dumbfounded. Yes? What was happening? Chloe smiled. “Come on, let’s take a picture.” Before Oliver could stop her, Chloe had already pulled out her phone and snapped a picture of them together, then sent it to Mark. Even in her drunken state, Chloe quickly typed a message. “Mark, look at the man I found.” Jacob’s gaze turned icy as he looked at Chloe’s phone screen. The temperature around him seemed to drop from twenty degrees to below zero. Oliver crossed his arms and stepped back, sensing danger. “Aren’t you going to buy me for a night? Let’s go,” Jacob said irritably, wrapping his arm around Chloe and leading her away. Oliver stood there, stunned. Had his boss just been bought for a night? Was his boss finally going to experience love? “Wow, this is incredible. I have to tell the others. Good news is better shared,” Oliver thought as he dashed towards the luxurious private room in Elysium Bar.
