Chapter Five
It had taken all day. Meeting after meeting, person after person. He appreciated that they wanted to be thorough, but it was late now, and he was just starting the hours-long drive home. He was happy to be headed back, but he was hoping to have some daylight.
The only bright side to leaving this late was that he was not hitting any traffic. Even the continuous construction zones had been smooth. He didn’t stop once and drove straight home, starving and anxious to get in his own bed.
It was after midnight by the time he pulled in the driveway. It had confused him for a moment when there was a car in the garage until he remembered that Sam was staying over because she didn’t want to be at home during the renovations. She worked more than he did, and he didn’t see how it matte
