The Winter Solstice Party (part 2)

1091 Words
Well this should be fun.... Rose said snickering. I guess this means Daniel is announcing that I am his mate tonight. He wouldn't have put me at the Alpha family table with him if he wasn't. I still need to talk to him, I'm not happy with today's events. He needs to respect that I have been living an independent life for a long time, he can't just jump in trying to control me. Instead of finding my seat, I decided to see if I could find Daniel and talk it out. I would hate the whole dinner to be awkward. I stroll to the pack house, searching through the crowd as I go. I dont smell his scent out here, so he must be inside. Opening the front door, my nose is invaded by many different delicious smells, the most prominent being my mate. Following his scent upstairs to the Alpha living quarters, I heard a female voice talking. The sound was muffled by the closed door so I couldn't understand what was being said at first, but that voice sounded familiar. I know I shouldn't be nosey, it's not like me. I just wonder what a woman would be doing in his bedroom when he had supposedly been looking for his mate for so long. Tip-toeing closer to his bedroom I recognize the voice as his twin sister, Danielle. I should leave, listening in on a family discussion is inappropriate. "I don't know what to do Danielle, she seems uninterested in me. I just don't understand her, she has been so aloof." I hear Daniel say, frustration laced in tone. I really do need to have a heart-to-heart with him. The hurt in his voice breaks my heart. I do have intense emotional feelings for him already, I just don't want to be controlled. I start to back away when Danielle starts speaking again, her words stopping me in my tracks. "You should just mark her. Her feelings will change once she wears your mark." She said nonchalantly. Is she serious! What she-wolf would approve of being forcefully marked. Danielle must have gone insane since last time I saw her. "I wouldn't do that Danielle. I want her to trust me and be my Luna on her own volition. Because she loves me and wants to be with me, not because I forced myself on her." Daniel said. "If you say so." Danielle responds as she opens the bedroom door. She turns and now we are face-to-face. "Melody?" Danielle asked, eyeing me head to toe. I nod my head as Daniel walks up behind his sister. "Could I talk to you for a second?" I ask Daniel over Danielle's shoulder. I step to the side, giving her a repulsed glare as she passes. "I'm guessing by that look you heard what she suggested." He said in more of a statement than a question, closing the bedroom door behind us. I nodded my head, walking over to a chair in the corner of the room. "When I saw that I was seated at your table I thought I should come talk to you, I didn't want dinner to be awkward. And yes, I did hear her horrible advice to violate me." I said in a low voice. Daniel takes a seat on the couch in front of me. "I'm not sure if you heard what I told her but I would never do that. I want you to fall in love with me of your own volition, not because I forced the bond on you." He tells me tenderly. My heart softens even more. "I do want to give this a chance Daniel. I have just been living pretty much on my own since I was fifteen. Its hard being thrust into a possessive relationship. I need time and space to adjust." I say. "I get that, I'll try to be less dominating. But please, will you let me TRY to win you over?" He asks taking my hand into his and kneeling in front of me. Instead of answering I pull him into a deep, searing kiss. The sparks fly and I feel my will power crumble. He tastes so amazing. I have never been kissed with this much passion. As we pull back from eachother breathlessly, he rests his forehead on mine. "We should head down to the party, someone will come looking for us soon. Plus, if you approve I would still like to make the announcement before the pack run." Daniel whispers. "I would like that." I say smiling. The dinner was delicious, even if the company was unpleasant. Things with Danielle seemed very tense now. Daniel's father, former Alpha Logan, made small-talk. He asked about New York and my career, Daniel seemed uncomfortable at this topic. I know he wants me to move back home permanently, but luckily he didn't bring it up. After everyone finished eating Daniel whispered in my ear that it was time. We slowly walk up the stairs to the stage hand-in-hand. Looking out at the crowd I see hundreds of inquisitive eyes watching me closely. Standing in the center of the stage Daniel addresses the crowd. "Thank you BlueMoon pack for joining us today for our Winter Solstice party. In about an hour we will take our pack run. There are a few Omegas inside that have volunteered to stay with the pups. Pack run's help to solidify and strengthen a pack, while giving thanks to the Moon Goddes for all her blessings. We are extremely thankful for her many blessings on our pack today, and everyday. We also have another reason to celebrate tonight. As some of you might know, I have found my mate." The crowd cheered and applauded excitedly. I saw my family sitting upfront watching proudly. "Your future Luna, Melody Bright." Daniel said motioning for me to step forward and address the pack. "Thank you for the warm sentiments. Most of you know of me, my parents are Nate and Leighann Bright, former Betas. I have been away for some time, but I look forward to getting to know you all and help advance our pack together." I addressed the crowd briefly. I was so nervous about the pack run, it being the first one I have ever participated in. Daniel and my family were with me every step of the way. It was so exhilarating, I had never felt so free. That night I fell into a peaceful sleep, excited to see what tomorrow brings.
