The Winter Solstice Party (part 1)

1063 Words
In long strides, I angrily walk out of the pack house and back towards my parents home. Who does he think he is? First he has my brother tell me he doesn't want me to train with whoever I choose, then tells me he just can't LET me go? I have only known he's my mate for twenty-four hours! What, are we in the 1950's again! He might be my Alpha but he can't hold me hostage. "UGH" I growl in frustration. I need to talk to Issac, I'll try to go visit him at his pack tomorrow. Leaving the pack territory for the day might help clear my head so I can think rationally. Here my mind is clouded by indecision, lust, and anger. Reaching in my pocket for my phone I realize I left it in Daniel's office. Now I have to go back and face him again. With a annoyed sigh I pivot, heading back in the direction I just came from, at a slower pace. Kim was in the courtyard looking at last minute details for the Winter Solstice party. She was already dressed and looked so elegant. Kim really does glow when she is pregnant. Mopping up to her, I throw my arms around her, leaning into her lightly. "I heard what happened in training." Kim said in a low voice. "Yeah, I dont want to talk about it." I said, my words muffled. "That's fine, I'm always here when you are." She said kindly. "I left me phone in his office, do you think you could get it for me?" I asked, lifting my head off her shoulder. "Sure, I'll bring it to your parents in a little bit." With that promise Kim walked off towards the pack house. Arriving home I found a dress already laying on my bed, with matching shoes sitting next to it on the floor. It was a gorgeous floor length, midnight blue dress with sheer sleeves from Lord and Taylor. It had an A-line silhouette with a clinched waist, small blue beads and sliver sequins running vertically, the full length of the dress. The beading reminded me of falling stars against a dark nights sky. The shoes were simple silver, open-toe kitten heels. I'm sure mom wanted me to be comfortable enough in them to dance to my hearts content. The dress seemed a little fancier then I expected, but it was absolutely breathtaking. After taking a short shower and towel drying my hair, I put on light makeup. Some mascara to bring out my blue eyes, and a little blush and lip tint to add color. I let my long, auburn hair dry naturally into waves, flowing freely down my back. I was zipping up my dress when I heard a knock on my bedroom door, I can tell by the scent its Kim. "You can come in Kim." I yelled through the door. She stepped inside, sitting my phone on the vanity nearby, then helping me zip my dress all the way and hooking the hook-and-eye closure. "This dress is stunning on you, Milly. I helped your mom pick it out last month when she told me that you were coming home on vacation." Kim told me. "Thank you, I love it!" I gushed. Kim picks up the shoes from the floor looking them over. "I didn't help pick these out though. They are adorable!" Kim said, trying the shoes on her feet and looking in the mirror. She takes them back off, handing them to me before putting her own shoes back on. "Is Daniel still announcing you as his mate tonight?" Kim asked, curiosity clear in her tone. I stopped putting on my bracelet, turning to her. "How did you know he asked me about that?" "He talked to Micheal." She stated nonchalantly. "We had an argument, I doubt it." I said walking to the full-length mirror and putting a pair of white-gold earrings on. "Just don't be surprised if he still makes the announcement. He's pretty smitten with you." Kim said. "Smitten?" I ask her, chuckling. Kim rolls her eyes, standing up from my bed and heading to the door. "Be ready in five minutes, everyone else is downstairs waiting for you." She said before closing my door behind her. My whole family walked to the courtyard together, everyone dressed to the nines. Pack members were already there drinking cocktails, dancing, and mingling amongst each other. Micheal gave Kim a sweet kiss before heading behind the stage. Kim asked if I would keep an eye on Mallory while she made sure everything was going smoothly. Mallory was dancing with some of the other young pups at the back of the dance floor so I found a seat close to watch them. I felt someone sit down beside me, looking over I see Eli smiling watching the pups play. "Would you like a drink?" Eli asks me. "Yeah, something strong." I joked, glancing at him. Only it wasn't a joke to Elijah, he handed me a drink that had a strong odor of alcohol. "Well, here goes nothing." I said downing the drink a three huge gulps. Taking Eli's drink from him and consuming it just as quickly. Eli chuckles before stalking off to get another drink. "Millwe!" Mallory calls to me. Running up and grabbing my hand Mallory pulls me onto the dance floor. "Dance wit me, Millwe!" Mallory said in her cute, broken toddler language. Picking her up and spinning her around we danced a giggled together. As the song ended Micheal came up taking Mallory from me. "Good evening everyone, can I have your attention please." I hear from the stage. Kim was onstage addressing the whole pack, Micheals steps onto the stage, with Mallory in his arms. I wonder where Daniel is.... My wolf, Rose, says curiously. "On behalf of the Alpha family I would like to welcome everybody to the Winter Solstice party. Dinner will be served in just a few minutes if you could please find your assigned tables. Thank you!" She finishes, climbing off the stage and finding a seat at a front table. "Where is my seat?" I question no one in particular, looking around the table at my family. Dad points to the Alpha family table, not saying a word. Well this should be fun.... Rose said snickering.
