RUN!!

"Yum! That was so good mom, thanks!" I said finishing my coffee and taking my plate to the sink to rinse off.
"I'm going for a quick run to stretch my legs" I said. "Wait!" Kim called behind me. Turning to Micheal she says "take Mallory with you back to the pack house, I'm going to go for a run with Melody. I'll be home soon" giving him a kiss and turning to me. "Ready?" she asks. "Yes, let me just make sure Issac isn't up." She nodded as I ran upstairs.
Of course he was still asleep, he can sleep like nobody else. When I got back downstairs Kim was grabbing us a bottle of water from the refrigerator. Micheal came over giving me a tight hug before picking up Mallory and headed out the back door.
We got to the forrest edge and quickly stripped and shifted into my wolf before taking off full sped. I ran fast, loving the feeling of the wind through my firey auburn fur. I only slowed down when I realized Kim was having trouble keeping up. I slowed and turned to see her shaggy dirty blonde wolf panting behind me. We walked a little ways finding a stream to drink out of before laying down and just enjoying to veiw.
Are you excited to be back? Kim asks through mindlink
Yes and No. I'm happy to see my family and get to know Mallory better, but I also miss New York. I know its crowded and noisy there but its become home. I replied.
I understand, its just everyone here misses you so much. Your family talks about you 24/7! Kim says
I missed them so much too....
Just as I said that we heard a rustling in the bushes. Both our heads shot in the direction of the noise and we jumped up. I assumed it was one of my brothers coming to run with us but when the person didn't immediately come out I knew it wasn't them.
Come on we should get out of here. Kim says worriedly
I know I just don't want to turn my back on whatever that was. I said
We started backing away slowly trying not to make any sudden movements and keeping an eye out. While it is unlikely that anyone would be here to hurt us it concerns me that they never let theirselves be known. We aren't fair from the border and rouges have been known to try to attack near the border in years past.
We hear a snap of a branch only this time its to our left on the other side of the creek. I realize pretty quickly that there are multiple people watching us.
RUN!! I yell into mindlink at Kim.
We both take off as fast as we can but Kim is slower than me. I can feel the stalkers getting closer as I scream at Kim to run faster. I mindlink my dad and tell him we are being chased by the small creek to the northwest of the pack house, near the border. He doesn't answer but I feel his panic through the link and know he is coming.
We have to hold them off, we won't make it to anyone that can help us before they get to us. I dont even know how many there are at this point. Kim trips on a fallen branch and I hear a snap.
What was that? Where are you hurt? I mindlink
Its my ankle, it will be better in a minute but not before they catch us. Kim says
We'll have to fight then. I say, changing back into my human form.
What are you doing Melody!! Kim screams
I fight better in my human form. I respond, readying myself for a fight.
Right after getting her to her feet five nasty rouge wolves come into view, stopping a few hundred feet from us before changing back into human form.
"Well, well, what do we have here?" The tallest guy in the middle says butt naked. He was tall and lean with a gut, I knew he wouldn't stand a chance against me. The other four start to circle us trying to cut us off from running again. What he didn't know was I had no plans to run again. I just need to stall long enough to give Kim's ankle a chance to heal.
All five attacked at the same time, trying to grab us and do Goddess knows what to us. Kim took the two to her right still in wolf form. I must say she has improved a lot since I saw her training years ago.
One tried to put me in a choke hold but I grabbed his arm, tucking my foot behind his leg, bending over and flipping him into another rouge. They both rolled a few feet as the third got a punch into my face before I could register where he was. I staggered back a step but recovered faster than he was expecting and landing several punches to his head. He fell to the ground as the other two came running back at me. I roundhouse kicked the first guy and that sent his head flying into a tree hard. He fell to the ground unconscious as I dodged another attack.
I could see that Kim was getting tired but holding her own next to me, one wolf unconscious while she was still fighting the other, both her and him in wolf form. I kept dodging and blocking the attempts from my two attackers.
Melody we are almost there, we hear the fighting, hold on.... Dad says through mindlink
I land one more blow before Mitchell and Malcom come busting through the trees and killing both aggressors with one bite. I looked over to see dad standing over Kim's last attacker and Micheal holding a now naked Kim in human form. She starts sobbing as Micheal pulls a shirt over her head and picks her up bridal style. I'm handed a large men's shirt by one of my brothers, it goes to almost my knees.
"Are you okay" Dad asks. "Yes, just a little shaken up. Is Kim okay?" I respond looking to where Micheal and Kim where standing off to the side now. "Yes, she'll be fine." Dad says. Micheal is kissing Kim's head and whispering things to her.
I see a few more warriors running towards us and Micheal orders two of them to take the still alive but unconscious rouge to the jails for later interrogation. The others are ordered to burn the dead rouges bodies. As we walk back home the surreal feeling of what pack life can be hit me hard.
