CHAPTER 1
Eira's POV Electrified, I stood still in the middle of the pack hall, staring at the two people at the front of the hall. My big eyes only grew wider in shock. My confused brain only asked more questions, as I just couldn't comprehend what was happening right before my eyes. This wasn't a movie or one of those novels I had read in the past; this was real, happening right before my eyes. Tears had long rolled down my cheeks as I stared at my fiance and my best friend, sister, and roommate getting married. “Wh... what is going on?” My voice came out in a whisper. I wasn't sure they had seen me, or maybe they refused to give me attention. Was I dreaming? Did I accidentally enter one of the books I was reading? Gathering up all the strength I had left in me and squeezing my eyes shut only to open them again, I screamed in pain, anger, and clear confusion. “What the f**k is going on here?” My voice was so loud this time around that everyone who sat for this unbelievable ceremony turned back to look at me. Kieran and Elara also turned to me; the elder who was conducting the marriage ceremony was no exception. I just want to presume that Elara was doing this on my behalf because she loves me and cares for me. I just want to assume that now that I am here, she will calmly step down and allow me to continue and get married to the man whom I have always loved and will always love. The gaze from Elara was enough for me to know that that wasn't the case. All my assumptions and thoughts were trashed by the looks they had in their eyes. “Can someone explain to me?” I gulped, heartbroken already. “What is going on, please?” Elara rolled her eyes at me. She was dressed in the same outfit as me. It was completely the same; everything she wore was what I am wearing now. How could she do this to her best and only friend? It was supposed to be my wedding with Kieran. “Snap out of it, Eira; it is what it is,” she snapped at me. My eyes twitched. “What…?” I was dumbfounded. Why was she saying that? Why was she being so rude? “But you never really liked Kieran, right?” I asked, and she chuckled. She was about to reply to me when the Elder whispered something to the suddenly quiet Kieran, who also, in return, whispered something into Elara’s ears. That caused her to look from me to him and then nod. She turned to look back at me but didn't say a word. Here I was standing in the middle of the pack hall with my beautiful purple robe that was bought for me by the soon-to-be Alpha Kieran. The shoes I had on and the jewelry were all bought by him. We met yesterday and were so happy about this. Am I mistaking something here? Before I could ask Kieran what the problem was, I heard a loud and angry call. “Guards!!!” I gulped when I saw Kieran's mother, who was already on her feet, instructing the guards. “Please walk Miss Eira out. If she doesn't cooperate, do it forcefullyy." My eyes widened. This has not been a dream. My palms and feet had gone cold. My eyes dropped down more tears, and the make-up on my cheeks had successfully been ruined. I didn't know what strength I was still holding on to; I was still on my feet. My legs should have given way already. This is ridiculous. How is this even happening? My brain keeps yelling at me. The guards came towards me. I heard their lips move, but I couldn't comprehend what they were saying. Before I knew it, I was picked up by one of the guards and thrown on his shoulder. He walked with me on his shoulder out of the hall, and I didn't protest. I didn't have the strength to; I remained there like a sack of rice, but my gaze never left the two people on the stage. Elana and Kieran? How? Just how? I was thrown to the ground without mercy, using my buttocks to hit the ground hard. I didn't feel it much; the pain in my heart was far deeper than the one I was feeling in my back. Sitting on the ground, still confused, my wolf howled in pain. Kieran is my mate; we confirmed it when he was nineteen and I was eighteen. We knew who we were together. We loved each other. Not a day passes that I do not feel his love for me. Elara was my best friend, my big sister, and my only supporter and biggest fan. She never even liked Kieran, but she supported the marriage for my happiness. So I'm still confused about what's going on. Sitting on the floor like an abandoned rogue, my eyes caught sight of Luna Greer marching out of the hall with a wide smirk. My wolf growled in anger, and I could feel the literal pain and anger mixed, causing my emotions to be all over the place. I tried to keep my wolf still; it wasn't like we could do anything to her. “Stand up!” She ordered My head was up, looking at her, but I couldn't obey her. My legs were too weak. “I said stand up!!!” I tried to get up, but I couldn't. “Get her up and drag her to the back!” She ordered the guards that were standing behind her, and they came to me and pulled me up on my feet. It was then that I noticed the media; they were there for the wedding. My wedding was stolen by my best friend. This was the main reason Luna Greer wanted me to be taken to the back of the hall. I must have been captured on camera, definitely. “Can you hear me?” Luna Greer immediately asked if I was thrown to the ground, and I sneezed. Luna Greer stepped back in speed before she cursed. “Fool!” My nose was still rolling down moisture, and my cheeks were stained with tears. She walked closer to me and held my chin up. "Pathetic,” she cursed, her grip on my cheeks tightening before she threw my face to the side with disgust. “I am sure you are surprised about what is going on.” She c****d her head before she giggled. Walking back and forth in front of me with a beautiful hand fan on her hand matching her beautiful blue gown, she began to explain, “My son, Kieran, would be the next alpha in two weeks' time after the wedding. He is a strong and smart man; I do not want a lowlife omega for him, a mere orphan. So I explained something to him, and as I said earlier, my son is smart. He could already understand my concern, so he had to drop you." My eyes continued to follow her as she moved. I wanted to inform her that Elara was an orphan too, if she didn't know, but she continued. “What I am trying to say is that you, Eira, can never become the bride to my son or Luna to this pack. You are too weak, too vulnerable, and too open to any form of attack. We can't get anything from you. Marriage is give and take, but you have nothing to give, and you know it.” My first formed into balls as I tightened them in rage, my veins popping out. She continued, “Anyway, I know there was no need to explain anything to you; you don't deserve an explanation. I'm just here to make it clear to you that it is over between my son and yourself, so you don't hold on to false hopes. Kieran had let go of you two years ago when I opened his eyes to see that you're nothing more than a gold digger." My wolf struggled to come out, ready to fight back, but I clenched my fist further, trying to keep her in check. We could end up in jail if we make the wrong move. My head was blank at the truth that was revealed. Elara had been with Kieran for two good years, and I didn't notice. What a nice way to explain that her son had been cheating on me. “Now get out!” She spat, but I trembled, not in fear anymore but in anger. I jolted to my feet and went for her throat, as my wolf had suggested. “Hey!” She screamed immediately, and my hand reached for her throat, but before I could do anything else, I was manhandled by two hefty guards. “Let go of me!!” I screamed, “I swear, I'll kill you!” I yelled at the Luna of the Moon white pack. What audacity! What guts! “Arrest her!” Luna Greer yelled in rage, and my heart dropped.
