I had begun hanging out with the Tanner's all week. I loved the kids as much I was getting to know Jesse. It gave me a reason to help Jesse with the kids. He could not really do to much right now with his condition.
The odd thing was that I was Becky his doting girlfriend had not been around at all when I was there. I tried not to over think about that. She was busy covering stories. Danny often was out to.
The phone rings. I answer. "Clip And Cuts how may I help you?" I answer.
"Oh, good Skyler you are still there! I was wondering can you babysit tonight?" Danny wonders. "I mean Jesse is but you know he can't do this on his own. I worry. I have a story to cover" he pleads.
"Sure, what time? I am free" I offer.
I get out my planner from my purse to jot down the time.

"You are a life saver!" he tells me happily. "Can you be by my place around six?" he asks me.
I glance at my planner. "Sure can" I say.
"See you then! The girls love you!" he brags.
"I love them. Can't wait to see them" I happily tell him.
"Jesse will be glad to see you" he mentions.
I giggle. "Really?" I ask.
I am blushing.
"He has been talking about you all week" Danny admits. "you did not hear that from me" he whispers. "I better go. Remember act like you came by to see Jess. And not the girls. Jesse has been weird about doing things on his own. When he clearly needs to be helped" he warns me.
"Got it" I agree. "I will remember"

We hang up. I begin whistling. I sweep up all the access hair on the floor. What if Jesse and Becky did end up breaking up? And Jesse asked me out? And we started to date then we would get married.
I would be the girls aunt. How great would that be to be a part of a family like that? To be Jesse's girl? I sigh. I had to stop wishing. And daydreaming.
"What is with you? Why are you so happy these days?" teases Janelle.
I grin. "No reason" I lie.
"Some guy is here to get his hair cut. He says he knows you, but he did not have an apt" Janelle tells me. She points over to the waiting area. I glance over where she was pointing. It was Joey! Jesse's buddy.
Joey smiles and his face lights up when he sees me. We wave at one another.
"We do know each other! That is Jesse's best friend" I whisper to her.
"Oh" she tells me.
"Joey come on back. What can I do for you?" I ask him. I have him sit in a chair.
"I actually have a date tonight. I wanted to look nice tonight" he happily tells me.
"Good for you. I am so happy for you! Is it someone I know?" I ask. "What kind of style do you want with your hair?"
"Feathery on the sides. Like Tom Selleck you get me? Like spy but mysterious. I had a call from my exlove from college. I have not saw her in years. She was the one who got away" he admits.
"Oh, how sweet" I gush. "But you should be you not someone mysterious. Though I can still do the look for you"
"I will take the advice. But also do the hair" he jokes.

I wash his hair. Cut it. Then blow it dry. Add in some style. And he had a feathery Tom look to him. I did pretty well. Jenelle whistles.
"Someone has a hot date" she jokes.
"Actually, I do" Joey cheerfully says.
"Good luck" Jenelle says.
"Oh, if Jesse asks me I was never here" Joey warns us.
"Mum's the word" I tease as I act like I zip up my lips.
After I was off work, I rush home. I had enough time to change and fix my hair a bit. Freshen up. I brush my long blond hair.
Then pull it up in a braid. And add a fancy clip. I add purple shimmer eyeshadow to make my blue eyes pop more. To bad I was shorter than Jesse.
But the better to bat my eyes up at him when I had a chance to. I added on a smile set of earrings and necklace set on.
And a tee shirt with good jeans. I did not want to seem to desperate but look good to. I hop the convers high tops on my feet. I loved these things. They were so comfy.
I grab my purse then head on out. Drive on to the Tanner's house. I play my new Aha tape in my car. I hum along happily then soon am at the Tanner's house. I find a decent parking spot. Then head inside once DJ lets me come in.

"You here to help with uncle J?" she whispers to me.
"Mum's the word" I joke back.
"Thank goodness! Right on time!" brags Danny. He comes in the room.
"Why is Skyler here?" Jesse asks as he sees me there.
"I had asked her to sit with the girls. I thought you might be going out tonight" Danny lies.
Caught in the act.
"You know I am home for the week. Becky has been busy. There is no need for Skyler to stay. I am here with the girls" Jesse points out. "Not that I am not happy to see you Skyler" he says to me.
"Thank Jess" I laugh.
I blush.
"Jesse how are you going to cook the girls dinner one handed?" Danny grumbles.
"DJ can help" Jesse argues.
"I have a big test I need to study for" warns DJ.
"And I am sick of sandwiches" grumbles Stephanie.
"Fine so I need a little bit of help" Jesse finally admits.
"I really do not mind helping" I offer.
"Thanks, Skyler, for staying I have to go" Danny says as he takes off out the door.
"What sounds good for dinner? I can start on it. And DJ what are you studying?" I ask the gang.
"I can order pizza" offers Jesse.
The girls groan with displeasure.

"No more pizza!" warns Stephanie.
"No more" pipes up Michelle from her play pin. I had to laugh at that. Jesse blushed.
"Fine no more pizza" sighs Jesse.
"Come to the kitchen. Let's see what we can make" I say.
"Can I help?" Stephanie wants to know. "I have to earn my cooking badge for the Honey Bees"
"Sure, you can" I offer.
The girls follow me in the kitchen after I grab Michelle from her play pen. I set her in her highchair so she could watch us all. DJ gets her book out. Then sits at the kitchen table. Jesse sits beside her.
"Math?" he groans. "Yuck" he jokes.
"Algebra" she says. "double yuck!"
I soon am heating up pot pies in the oven for everyone. And mixing up some no bake cookies with Stephanie. She was enjoying that. I happened to be good at math. I soon helped DJ study and finish her homework. And I could impress Jess all at the same time!
The oven beeped.
"I can get it!" calls out Stephanie.
"No no not yet" I warn her. I leap up then grab the oven mitts. I get the food out of the oven. And turn it off.
"That smells great!" Jesse says.
"Thanks" I say.
Stephanie gets everyone something to drink. DJ puts away her books. We all sit down to have dinner. Jess is staring at his meal with his fork in one hand. He looked pretty bummed out.

"I think I may go sit out in the living room. Do you mind?" he asks me.
"No go ahead" I say softly.
I sit with the girls as we enjoy dinner. I give Jesse time to himself. Then I help the girls get ready for bed after dinner. And I let them have some milk and cookies for dessert. I grab Jesse's dinner. Then head to the living room where he sat on the couch in front of a blank tv.
"Something wrong Jess?" I ask.
"Everything" he grumbles. "I can't feed myself change myself ride my bike" he complains. "I have not saw Becky all week. But on the tv. I am sure she is ashamed of what I am right now" he sighs.
"Her loss. She should be here to help you. If she really cared she would" I point out.
"I am sure she would but she is busy. Life won't stop because I am a moron" he tells me.
"We all make mistakes. Jess before long you will be better and be back to normal" I remind him. "life will seem good again"
"I hope so" he tells me.
I hear his stomach growl. He was hungry.
"Jess?" I ask.
"Yes Skyler?" he replies.
"Can I help feed you dinner? No one has to know. I will go check on the girls. Someday when I need help I can call on you for it" I offer.
He winces. "No matter how awful it is will you really call for my help?" he teases.
"Sure" I agree.
"Alright" he chuckles. "only because I am starving. And no one will be home until an hour later"
I nod. "Let me keep the girls busy. And I will be right back"

I hand out a second round of cookies to the girls. Then go back to help Jesse. It was sweet feeding him. I felt like a nurse. Then I go get the girls in bed for the night. Jesse sings something to Michelle while I help the other girls.
He had a beautiful voice. It was the first time I heard him sing. He was singing "Baby Love" to her. Making my poor heart melt.
"Sorry was I keeping the other girls up?" he asks me when he spots me there.
"No not at all. I just had to say that was beautiful. I love your voice" I say. "I am sure Michelle does to"
Michelle was sleeping in her crib now. Sucking her thumb.
"Thank you kindly" Jesse replies with a happy grin on his face.
The doorbell rings.

"We better get that before the girls wake" I warn him.
We rush downstairs. I get the door for him.
"Hi is Jesse here? This is his girlfriend Becky. I had sometime to stop by" she says at the door.
My heart sinks. Our beautiful moment was ruined. Now Jesse did not need me around. He had Becky here.
"Becky!" he joyfully says.
"I am sorry I have been so busy Jess. I am here" she announces.
"I am going to head home" I softly say. I grab my purse and go to leave.
"Skyler wait!" he calls to me. But I am out the door.
I sigh once I get in my car. I fling my purse in the front seat. What was I doing? I always tried to get guys who wanted nothing to do with me. I was always trying to win them over. And I never once won them over. This was not worth it. My cell phone rings.
"How did it go tonight?" Jenelle answers.
"Fine. Hey remember when you wanted to hook me up on the date?" I ask her. I drive away.
"Yes sure you said no though" she says.
"I want to be set up. Tomorrow night after work. I am ready to date" I declare.
"Are you sure?" she asks. "is something wrong?"
"No nothing is wrong. I finally see what I need to do" I announce. "I always go after the wrong men. Time to chance the right ones. Well not have to chance any of them" I laugh.
"Okkkkkaaaayyyy then" she laughs. "Sure, I can set you up"
"Great!" I tell her.
We make plans then I hang up. The best way to get over someone was to go out with someone. And that was just what I was going to do.
