Dark Magic

KARIELLE "Hera! Oh my goddess, what have they done to you?" I ask her in angst after the shock of her unexpected appearance settled. "My name isn't Hera, now back off away from me, abomination." She replies in a mean spirited voice, much different from the sweet one I remember before her kidnapping the night we were in the hospital. Alpha Christian had tied her to a chair for my protection since they left me alone, awaiting her brother to arrive here. Emile had his father call her brother to come over as quickly as he could, letting him know we found his sister, but unknowing what state she was in as she refused to talk once we uncovered her mask. Emile was rushed to the hospital in his dire state, as he was giving into whatever poison they had injected him with. "Hera, Please talk to me. I need you. The real you." I beg of her. "I just want my friend back." I say to myself as I quietly weep. "She's under a spell." I hear a voice say behind me, and I turn around to notice Hera's brother, Mylo had arrived. "Hey! Didn't hear you come in, what do you mean she's under a spell? How do you know?" I question, and he looks to his sister before he walks over to sit down beside me. "I can smell it from a mile away. Werewolves have enhanced smell, as you know, so anything different than an original scent can be detected. I can smell the magic pouring off of her." He enlightens me, and I want to facepalm myself. I knew she smelled off, I just hadn't put it together. I'm still new to all of this considering I wasn't taught from a young age as most wolves are, I was abused instead. "How do we help?" I ask him, and he sighs. "First, we'll have to find someone who can reverse the spell. We need a witch." He states in a flat tone, to my discernment, we don't know any witches. "But.. How are we gonna find one in tim.." I start to say before another voice interrupts my response. "I know just the person." Alpha Christian says as he walks in the room. "Alpha, what are you doing here? Is Emile okay?" I've been worried about him, but I had the task to stay here with Hera and everything else would be taken care of. "He's stable, He had to get a few different antidotes, but we found one that worked. He might be in there for a few days for monitoring, but as of right now he's getting some much needed rest so his body can heal itself now that the poison is gone." I breathe in relief at his response, letting a little weight fall off of my shoulders. I couldn't help but blame myself for everything that has happened lately, I seem to be the common denominator in all of our current problems. "Thank you Karielle, for protecting my boy." He says as he grabs my hand in his. "Don't thank me Alpha, He's one of my best friend's, I would do anything to ensure their survival." I reply, and he nods his head with a smile. "Now, about that witch." Mylo speaks up, shutting down our heart to heart. "I know you're concerned, Mylo, her being your sister and all. No disrespect, but look at her. We have to be careful as to not make any mistakes and do this the right way. We don't know who she is right now or what she's capable of." He says carefully to Mylo, before Hera starts to laugh maniacally to our dismay. "What so funny Hera, this is your life on the line here!" Mylo shouts at her. "I'm not Hera, how many times do I have to tell you!" She replies back to him in anger, not very fond of us continuing to call her by her real name. "I am your death." She says to me as she continues to chuckle, and I shrink back at her statement, not knowing how to react to this side of her. "Hera, I know you're in there! Come out! Please!" I retort as I shake her body, hoping she would come to her senses. I knew it wouldn't happen. "I'll contact the witch, I think it would be good for you to have a meeting with her as well." Alpha Christian tells me, and I start to get nervous. "Me? What if people start noticing me more, and ask questions?" I ask with worry, scared of the unknown since I've been kept behind closed doors the majority of my time here. "It'll be fine, Karielle. Maybe it's time people start knowing about you. You've been behind these doors for so long, we need to get you out in the real world." He says nonchalantly, but that's a big deal to me. "Can we atleast figure out more about me before hand? I don't want to be some mystery woman to everyone, I want to know exactly who I am." I reply. Alpha Christian and I are so lost in our conversation, we didn't see Mylo untying Hera until it was too late. "Mylo no!" Alpha Christian shouts as he tries to run over to stop them, but she is already loose from her binds. She looks to Mylo, that same red flash I saw in her eyes earlier. "I'm sorry, I didn't know it would backfire!" Mylo shouts back, feeling guilty about what he had just done. Hera dodges Alpha Christian's attempt to grab onto her, before running in my direction. "My name is Sasha. We will have the realm under our palms but first, you need to die!" She howls before shifting into her pretty black and tan spotted wolf, charging straight at me. I close my eyes waiting for a collision, but nothing happens. I open my eyes, confused as to why I felt nothing. Everyone is still, as if time had just stopped moving. I look around, not understanding the situation before me. Suddenly, a swirl of glittering mist slowly floats down towards me, until I see an outline blossoming into our one and only mood goddess, Celenara. "It's time, my child. I've granted Akara permission to come early. You're going to need her once time goes back to normal. I felt I needed to intervene, we can't have you losing your life so soon love, not before your destiny is fulfilled. Don't be alarmed at what you see when I'm gone. Remember, I'm always watching." Her gracious voice glides in the air like a soft and gentle lullaby, calming in all it's sanctity. "But wait.." I say as I go to reach for her, her form dissipating back into thin air. I blink once, then twice, before the chaos comes back in real time. "Close your eyes, hurry!" I hear a voice in my head, like another soul had just entwined with mine. I do as the voice says, and close my eyes tightly. When I open them back up, I see Hera's form is still coming for me, although slower than what I had anticipated. I look down, only to notice two sterling silver paws, with an opal reflection revealing itself as the light shines upon me. My wolf! I say excitedly to myself. "Try Lycan, among other things babe. Now Get ready!" She says as I feel her crouch down, preparing for the impact I'm about to receive. Hera's wolf, Raelyn, opens her mouth, fangs showing and ready to bite, only I watch as Hera is lifted midair, a dumbfounded look on her face. "No way! How?!" She asks as she's floating above me. "That's impossible! It is said that you can only aquire your wolf at 18 and unlock your full potential with the stone! This cant be!" She seems to get angrier with each comment she makes, and my wolf just smirks at her. "I am the impossible, and you should have stayed in the ground where you belonged!" Akara appears in her mind, and she holds her head "Get out! Get out of my head! You abomination!" Sasha shouts as she wails and kicks, trying to get out of Akara's telepathic grip. "Not happening, Release Hera, now!" Akara says to her in mindlink again, to her obvious frustration she screams in pain. "Never! You'll never see her again! I'm here to stay!!" Sasha starts to laugh after her words, and Akara can feel my hurt at Sasha's taunting. This made Akara furious. "You entitled little witch! You will give her back!" Akara screams in her mind, releasing something that made my ears ring, and Sasha's spirit holds Hera's ears tightly, wallowing in pain. "Make it stop! Make it stop!!" Sasha screams, but Akara is done playing her games. "Don't harm her, She's still Hera!" Mylo shouts, followed by Alpha Christian in agreement. They're right Akara, we have to restrain her again I tell her. I hear her pout, but she follows my wishes anyway. I watch from the back of my mind as Akara gently moves Hera's form towards the same chair she was in just before, sitting her down before I watched as the ropes moved on their own accord, tying Hera's hands behind her back and her feet together. Even tighter this time, to prevent another escape. That is, if Mylo doesn't do anything stupid again. Thank you, Akara. I say to her, realizing that our journey is only just beginning. "We have to cover her mouth!" Alpha Christain says in haste, as he runs over to grab a roll of duct tape. He rips a piece off with his fangs, and places it over her mouth, preventing her from speaking. "Why? We need to hear what she has to say!" I question him, not fond of him placing tape over my best friend's mouth. "If it's true what she says, we have to keep her from being able to talk until we can get her to the earth witch. She could cast spells and hurt us at her disgression, and we don't want that to happen before trying to remove her from Hera's body." Mylo explains, and I now understand Christian's motive. There's a sudden awkward silence in the room, no one speaking up to say anything further. They just stand there, staring at me in amazement. I don't get it, I'm a wolf just like them, well Lycan as Akara had put it, but I'm nothing special. "Uhmm, do you guys have a staring problem?" I echo in their minds. Wait, how did I do that? Now that you have me, you can mindlink anyone Akara informs, and I'm astonished. In our world, I thought you could only mindlink with those you are connected to, like your pack or spouse, even family. You're different, Karielle. And so am I. Akara says, and I'm bewildered. We will get into that later, for now, you need to make a plan with them. She urges me. "This hasn't happened in over a century!" Alpha Christian blurts out, Mylo still staring at me like he's starstruck. "What hasn't?" I ask him, and he shakes his head. "Karielle, you're a Lycan hybrid. Do you know how rare that is? I mean, look at your coloring! And your eyes!" He points out, before showing me to the bathroom mirror to take a look at myself. We walk in the bathroom, and he switches on the light. I slowly walk in front of the mirror he walks me to, and I feel my jaw hit the floor, theoretically. "I'm Beautiful." I cry out, looking at the wolf before me. Her fur is a stunning sterling silver, I can see the pink and purple reflecting off of her back. I walk up a little closer, admiring the change to my eyes. One pink, and one purple eye, both have gold reflects glittering throughout. Wow Is all I can think, as I've never witnessed such a magnificent looking wolf before either. "See what I mean?" Christian asks, admiring me just as much as I am. "We need to get to that witch." He says, and I nod. How do I get back? I mindlink him, and Akara steps in to answer my question. Close your eyes, and imagine your human form with all your features. Two arms and two legs. That should do the trick Akara giggles. "I take it your wolf could give you that answer." Christian chuckles, and I close my eyes and do just as she had told me. I open my eyes slowly, to my disappointment, still in wolf form. Try again, let it take you away this time, Kari Akara directs me, and I close my eyes again. I imagine my long dark hair, purple streak down the front. My long golden tan legs and arms, my purple sunset mixed with midnight irises. I slowly open my eyes again, to see I've returned to my original form. I did it! I knew you could babe Akara assures me. We stand here for a minute before I look down in horror "I'm naked!" I shout, moving my arms to try and cover myself, which isn't working or me much considering my curvy figure. "I'll be right back." Christian says awkwardly, scrambling out of the room. I stand there frozen, not realizing that I wouldn't be covered when shifting back. Ashlyn, the same omega that would wake me up in the morning, barged in with an outfit for me in tow. "Thank you! I definitely wasn't preparing for this." I say with a lighthearted chuckle, completely embarassed. She laughs back. "It happens." She replied, before walking back out of the room. I hurry to put on the underwear, black leggings and purple sports bra she brought me before I walk out of the bathroom, back to where Alpha Christian, Mylo and Sasha in Hera's form lie in wait. They look over to me, fully dressed now, thankfully. "Sorry about that, I should have mentioned that when taking you to the mirror." Christian says, while scratching the back of his head. "It's alright, Now about that witch." I mention trying to change the subject, and he walks away, cellphone in hand to make the call. I stare at Hera, reminiscing all the times she's been there for me, now feeling helpless as I'm not able to help her in the way that I want to, or make a quick fix for her. "So, You and Hera are pretty close, huh?" Mylo asks, breaking my silent stare. "Yeah, she's been a blessing to me. I just hope we can fix this." I say sadly, not knowing if I'll be able to even see her again, or hear her sweet laugh. Mylo seems to share my feelings. "She's awaiting our arrival." Alpha Christian says, walking back over to us. "Well, what are we waiting for? Lets go!" I tell him. He waves Mylo over, so he can get help with lifting Hera/Sasha to bring her with us. I follow behind them as they carry her down the stairwell, and out through the entrance to the front steps, waiting for the driver to pull forward. Once the car is in our vicinity, They lift her up into the very back, and closed the hatch behind her. We each got inside, Christian nodding to the driver to take off. Not long after we left, We arrive in front of a wooden gate, but I don't see anything else around. Alpha Christian hops out of the car, Mylo following behind him to grab Hera from the back. I get out once they have her unloaded, walking over by them. "You won't know this place is here until we're the only ones around." Christian retorts, watching as his driver drove off. "For her protection." He adds. I felt a subtle change in the air, and turn to look back towards the gate, and there's a small shack sitting in the distance. I follow after Mylo and Christian, while an older woman with grey hair opens the door, welcoming us in. There's a serenity about this place, and when the woman speaks I understand why. "You must be Karielle, it's an honor to meet you." The woman says to me as she brings me in for a hug. Wasn't expecting that I heard Akara giggle in the back of my mind. I ignore her, and ask the woman for her name. "I'm an Earth witch, only for the light. My name is Laverne. Have a seat, dear. I have a lot to ungather with you alone, but first let me get your friend here situated." She tells me, and I take a seat on her couch made of vines, quietly watching. Christian and Mylo drop Hera's chair in front of the witch. Laverne moves toward her, moving her own hand back and fourth through the air, up and down Hera's figure, chanting something unknown to me. "There, that should do it. Now..." Laverne says as she take the tape off of Hera's mouth. "Not nice to see you again, Sasha. Didn't you learn from your first encounter that this isn't such a good idea?" Laverne asks her. "You think you can stop me, Light witch?" Sasha questions with a smirk on her face. " Oh I know I can. I did it once, I'll do it again. And I'll make sure it sticks this time." She says, almost spitting her words in venom. "This will hurt." Laverne says as she grabs a spray bottle off of her table, and starts to spray it on Hera, not missing an inch of her body. Sasha screams in agony, laughing all the while. "Hurt me all you want, you're only hurting the girl beneath my soul." Sasha taunts, and Laverne tells her to shut up. The light witch steps out of the room briefly, before coming back in holding a black pot of some sort. She places it on the floor in front of Hera, taking her shoes off so that she's barefoot. "We have to cleanse her, as the black magic is overpowering on this one." She says, before placing the feet into the pot. Sasha hisses at this, and Laverne smiles at her pain. "You knew better, Sasha." She says to her. "I just wanted what was mine!" Sasha replies, and that seemed to set off Laverne. "You don't deserve anything that doesn't belong to you!" Laverne states matter of factly, before grabbing a small cup with different ingredients mixed in, although I'm not sure of the contents, I'm not a witch after all. She starts chanting while taking a pinch out of the cup and sprinkling it over Hera's body, each time it hits her skin Sasha withers in pain, screaming at each touch. Te Lou, spirindel la haze, fortu en casto! Laverne shouts louder with each repetition, and Hera's form starts shaking uncontrollably. Laverne never falters, even when her whole abode starts shaking. "Get down!" Christian yells, before we all drop ourelves to the floor. Plants start to fall off shelves and break, soil lining the once bare floor, spilling everywhere. "What's happening?" I try to speak over the chaos and the wind picking up around us. "Nooooo!" Sasha screams with all her might, before everything goes completely silent around us, everything suddenly just stopped. "Hera!" I shout as I jump up to run over to her. Her head is laid back against the chair, only her faint breathing a sign that she is still with us. "She needs rest, child. Her spirit is drained. She had a lot of dark magic embedded in her, and she may be out for a week or so." Laverne informs me, and I'm devastated at that. "We won't know if she's even okay or if its worked fully until she awakens?" I question, and Laverne nods her head at me. "I'm afraid so, girl." She says, and I just have to accept it. Alpha Christian, along with Mylo, finally gets up and walks over. "Will my sister be okay?" Mylo asks her, and she puts her head down, no certain answer to give. "Only time will tell." She says in a hopeful tone. "Until then, we need to move on to the star of the sho.." Laverne starts to say, before someone bursts through the door, hearing all the commotion that had just transpired. "Alpha Daxton, to what do I owe the pleasure?" Laverne asks with a big smile on her face. I look over to the door, seeing who she referred to that decided to burst in unexpectedly, at a bad time of course. I stay glued to my spot next to Hera at the sight of the man standing there in all his masculine glory. It's him, Karielle its him! Akara bounces around in my head, over the moon. I look up to face the man, wondering why my wolf is so giddy at a time like this. As I look over, our eyes make contact, and it seems as if the world we're in no longer exists. He stares at me, stunned. And then comes a word I had not fathomed to ever hear from lips as luscious as his. "Mate."
