ALPHA CHRISTIAN
I follow behind the 5 others as they walk outside the shack, awaiting their ride. I get ready to send them on their way so I can start my run back through the woods to go home, I'm sure Emile is worried since I've been ignoring his calls. I'm gonna be late on getting home knowing what I had originally told him and Karielle. "Alpha Christian, do you want a ride home?" Sebastian asks me, and I politely decline. "No, thank you though. I have some things to take care of at home, and I could use the decompression of a run in my wolf form, I haven't let him out in awhile." I respond back, him nodding his head at me. "Well, I guess we will be on our way then. I have your number and will call you in the morning, the sooner we meet the quicker we can put things in motion. If you shall need us for anything, don't hesitate to reach out." he replies back to me. We say our goodbyes before they get into their vehicle, heading back to their packs. I watch as they drive off into the distance, and I shift into my dark brown wolf, Tak. Taking off into the darkness of the woods, I start my short run home. I suddenly start to feel my wolf gaining faster traction, and I'm confused as to why he feels the unanticipated need to hurry. Tak, what's the problem? I ask him, and he doesn't answer me. I can only think he has reasoning for this, so the rest of our run is quiet, only hearing the crunching of leaves and branches under my feet, all the trees a blur as we speed by. We finally arrive to the edge of the clearing, where my pack grounds begin. I step up to the gate to let my guards know I've returned from my meeting. Once I'm up close, I see the darkness inside their cabin at the beginning of the gate. That can't be good I say to myself, and I feel Tak nod his head before taking off through the gate and toward the packhouse. With no one guarding our entrance, I have no idea what to expect, but I have a feeling something isn't right. As I get closer to my packhouse, I notice two dark beings laying on the ground in front of my door. Upon getting closer, I realize they're not just beings, they're two of my warriors, trained to stop any unwanted visitors should anyone be able to get past the guards. I shift back to my human form, walking up the stairs to take a better look. Lucas and Carl, two of my close friends, laying on their backs. There's blood seeping from their bodies. I bend down on one knee for further inspection, and I see they both have a gaping wound where their necks were sliced open, one perfectly sharp cut all the way across their throats. Margaret. I open the door slowly before walking inside my home, looking to the left and right of me, nothing or no one in sight. "Emile, are you home?" I yell, but I don't receive an answer back. I start to frantically check the rooms on each side of the house on this floor to no avail. I hear a loud commotion above me, so I sprint to the stairs, taking them 2 and 3 at a time. I run towards our double doors that lead to the dining room and throw them open, everything I'm just witnessing seems to go in slow motion. Karielle is holding her arms in the air, a darkly clothed and masked figure on the other end of her rage. The figure is pinned beneath her hold, but she's not even touching them. Another on the floor beneath the other, blood pouring from the head, laying in an awkward position on their neck. At that moment I realized that person is dead, and Karielle is the cause. I look around the room before my eyes land on Emile, an immediate sob escaping my very being. He's laying on his side on the floor, holding his leg in pain. The look on his face pulling my heart strings. I run over to him and drop to the floor so I could pull him into my lap. "Emile, Emile!." I cry out, while lightly tapping his face. He opens his eyes to look at me. "Dad?" He questions. "I'm here bud, I'm here. You need to stay awake. Can you tell me what's happening?" I ask as I point around the room and look back to him. "Mom, she did this. She wants me dead. Karielle, you have to stop her, dad, we can't let her kill them both. Go, you have to go to her." He pleads with me, and I'm terrified to leave him here. I've been gone long enough, and I'm starting to resent myself for even leaving him here for this to happen. "Dad, you didn't know, I'll be fine, go!" He says, coughing and pushing me away. "Okay, I'll go, just promise me you'll hold on. Promise me." I tell him, dread lingering in my gut. "I.. I promise." he chokes to get the words out. I squeeze his hand before I let go and slowly get up, gently laying him back on the floor before going to face Karielle.
I walk over to Karielle in her trance like state. Moving to put my hand on her shoulder, I try to ease her with my presence. To my surprise, she throws me back to the ground next to Emile without even lifting a finger. Her strength, I've never felt anything like it before. I get back up and stalk back toward her form, all the while watching the figure held in the air, holding and scratching at their neck trying to catch a breath of air to no avail. I go to stand in front of Karielle, and she doesn't even notice me, her glowing purple eyes focused on the being she's trying to kill. "Her eyes" I hear Tak repeating over in my head, knowing he feels the same way I do."Karielle, you have to let them go. Don't do this, Karielle! We need this one!" I try to plead with her only to be ignored, her strength only tightening her telepathic grip around the beings neck. "Karielle, this isn't you. What about your mom and dad? What about defeating Margaret? How are we going to find out the truth? Karielle! You have to let go!!" I see her face dropping at my words, and at this point I know I'm getting through to her. "We're in this together. Don't you remember? Emile Needs help. We can't get him help until you stop. He's dying, Karielle!' At those words, she drops the figure to the ground in a loud thump, before falling herself, tears streaming down her cheeks. The figure coughs and gasps for the need to breathe. "What did I do? What did I do?!" Karielle sobs as she looks around the room. "I did this! I know I did this!" She starts yelling, punching her fists so hard on the floor she put a dent in it. "Karielle, stop, you tried to save my boy, you did nothing wrong! They brought this on themselves! Don't feel bad for protecting those close to you! I only wanted you to stop so we could keep one alive, not because I cared whether they lived or died. Look at my boy! They did this to him!" I shout, and she cowers down at my anger. Noticing this I decide to sit down beside her, to let her know everything is okay, and that I would never hurt her. As I'm sitting next to her, I look over to Emile to see Dr. Morris at his side. When did he get here? I think to myself. "They came because of him." Karielle states to me, and I start to get up to go give him a piece of my mind. "Not like that, Alpha Christian. He came to help us before this happened." She tells me, and I urge her to go on, knowing my son is being taken care of. "Emile called him. He tried to call you multiple times, and with no answer." I bowed my head in shame, taking my part in blame for this. "No one had expected anything like this to happen." she retorts, and I can't help but feel that I could have prevented this whole thing from happening. "If I would have never left, or atleast answered my damn phone, my son wouldn't be curled up on the floor with his life on the line." I say in anger, my fists clenched at my sides. "This would have happened either way, apparently your wife is not someone who gives up easily, and tends to do whatever to get what she wants. Even at the cost of your own son." She says, and my anger is boiling over, ready to kill my own wife myself with my bare hands. I put that thought to the side, listening further to her explanation of events. "We tried to figure out something we could do to get a headstart on me and where I come from, considering all the weird happenings, that was a positive to look forward to today. Emile mentioned having the Dr. take a sample of my blood, and that maybe we could trace my background based on my d.n.a. Dr. Morris came over right away when Emile told him what we wanted to do. He was able to get 3 vials of my blood, and as he was leaving to go back to the hospital to drop them at the lab, these two catapulted him back through the door. The one currently dead on the floor over there, is the reason Emile is in the state he is in. I was so upset with everything. We already lost Hera and can't figure out where she is, I refused to lose him too." She finishes, and I'm baffled at her last words. "Hera? Isn't that the girl who Emile hangs out with away from his mother?" I ask her, and she stares at me blankly. "Wait, you knew?!" She looks surprised at what I had just said. "I pay more attention than he thinks I do." I say with a smile, and look to her to finish her version of what's transpired. "Emile is the reason she was my friend. I didn't know at first, but she was bringing me food and making my days as a servant here for Margaret a lot easier. She would come converse with me and let me vent to her. The whole time, even though Emile had to hurt me on Margaret's watch, he still made sure I was taken care of. Him and Hera were both a blessing to me here in my hard times, even when I thought he was a monster at one point, he has proved to me he's the complete opposite. He was only following his mothers orders, so he could get more information to take her down." I look down to my hands, not knowing what to say back to her words. This is partly my fault, and I cannot believe how blind I was in what Margaret was doing. I was so blind by my love for her, I trusted her judgement when I shouldn't have. The stupid mate bond, giving you a lens over your true vision no matter the cost. A mate bond isn't supposed to be like this, it's supposed to be sacred. Both parties in it together for the betterment and support of eachother. This, this wasn't love, this was manipulation to Margaret's advantage. I can't wait until I can get my hands on her, I'll make sure I'm the one to watch her take her last breath. She tried to kill our only child, our son, and she's gonna face the consequences for that. We may be able to form a plan, considering those she hired to do her dirty work won't be returning. I look to Karielle and Emile, before deciding to stand up and walk over to the figure struggling to get some air. Hiding behind a mask, so we couldn't see their face. I grab ahold of their arms, keeping them secured in one hand. With my other hand, I slowly lift the mask from their face to reveal their true form. Karielle and Emile both gasp at the person who was just outed, not expecting the person before them. Emile's eyes widen before he speaks. "Hera, what the f**k are you doing here?!"
