KARIELLE After Emile places my plate in front of me, I realize how hungry I am as my stomach starts to growl. I don't remember the last time I actually had a full meal, except when Hera would take care of me. I've been so focused on what's going on that I haven't even remembered. I'll have to change that, for Hera. She would be so upset if I didn't take care of myself while she's gone, as hard as it is since I've never really felt loved or welcomed here. I just hope she will be okay until we find her, please be okay. I look over to Emile, him scarfing down his food "Why do I feel so drained?." I ask him. My body feels like I've just done my first workout, but I haven't worked out a day in my life. "Well, it wasn't exactly a breeze down in the library, you know." He says, and I furrow my brows at him. "Karielle, you really don't remember?" he asks me, and I try to think back. "I know I had a vision about Hera, and her being taken." I tell him, and he looks at me with slanted eyes. "That's not all. Kari, your eyes were glowing. You spoke in thi... in this weird language, like a chant, Your voice changed, and it's safe to say you may have made me tinkle on myself before you decided to pass out on the floor." I spit my drink out, astounded at what I'm hearing. "What? That's not funny. What do you mean I was chanting? Emile, I don't know any other language. Nor do I remember being able to do such a thing. What's wrong with me?!" I cry out as I put my head back down on the table, tucking it snugly in my arms and quietly start sobbing. Why don't I remember? I ask myself. Things have been so strange lately. I feel Emile's hand gently stroke my arm, and I lift my head up to look at him. "Kari, there's nothing wrong with you. There's just so much unknown right now, but we're gonna figure it out, I promise. I owe you, remember? I won't stop searching until we find out where you really come from. Hera was so stuck on that legend, I thought it was stupid. But maybe there's some actual truth to it. I need to call the pack physician, Dr. Morris. Maybe he can get a blood sample and we can start there. We will find answers, do you hear me?" He grabs my chin so I'm looking directly into his eyes. "We will." he says firmly, and I nod my head at him, trusting his words. Emile has been so different since his mother hasn't been around, and I'm enjoying his company and starting to trust him more, regardless of the past. He's not the guy I thought he was, and I'm grateful for that. "I'll be right back, you sit here and finish your dinner. I'm gonna go make that call, we can start with this while we await my father." He tells me before leaving the room. Could this be it? Could I finally find out my background? I ask myself, having nothing but hope that I can figure out who my real parents are. I'm lost on the thought of what they could be I didn't even hear Emile walk back into the dining room until he spoke. "Dr Morris is on his way. He thinks this is a great idea. I didn't mention anything irrelevant, only that you're wanting to know where you come from." He assures me, that's a relief. I don't want anyone knowing outside of any of us the reality of our situation until we know more. "I wanted to come down here really quick to let you know, but I'm gonna head back to the office to try and reach my dad again. You can meet me up there if you want when you're finished." He smiles at me before walking away. "I'll wait for you down here!" I shout at his retreating form, and he responds with a thumbs up above his head. As I'm finishing my last bite of food, I hear a knock at the door, Must be the Doctor. Emile runs back down to answer it, before walking in with Dr. Morris in tow. "Still no luck?" I ask Emile, and he just shakes his head. His father must be in the middle of something important, as I can't fathom another reason he wouldn't answer his son. "Hello Karielle, You remeber me, correct?" The Doctor addresses me, and I nod my head at him. "Of course." I smile back. "Alright, so in order to accomplish this, I'll need you to sit in this chair over here." He directs me to a seat at the counter in the front of the dining room, away from the tables. I take a seat, and lean my head back. "Is this gonna hurt?" I question, and he chuckles at my nervousness. "You'll only feel a slight pinch at first, then you shouldn't be too uncomfortable after that." He replies before grabbing his needle and tubes out of his bag, along with what I'm assuming to be vials to hold my blood. He puts on a pair of hospital gloves and uses an alcohol wipe to clean a spot on my arm. "Just relax your arms hun." I do as he says. I jump a little as I feel the poke of the needle making it's way into my skin. "Wasn't that bad, huh?" he laughs, and I giggle as well. "Not as bad as I was expecting, but then again I've felt worse." Dr Morris' face drops at my words, knowing what I've encountered since treating me at the hospital. He fills up 3 vials with my blood, and then slowly pulls the needle out before taping a piece of gauze over the spot. "All done." He says as he takes his gloves off and throws the used items in a small bag. "I'm gonna take these to the lab and as soon as I get the results back I'll call you." He says to Emile and I, loading his tools and the vials into the bag he had brought with him. "Thank you so much Doctor, you don't know how much I appreciate your help." I tell him, Emile mirroring my feelings. He just smiles and subtly nods his head. "You're welcome, I'll see myself out." We watched as he walked outside closing the door behind him. We don't even have a chance to blink, when suddenly, he was thrown full force back through the door and into the adjacent wall. "What the fuck..!" Emile says, before rushing to check on the Doctor, that was a pretty hard blow. I look back to the door to see two darkly clothed and masked figures come in shortly after. "Quick, grab the bag!" I hear one yell to the other. "Kari, They're after your blood!" Emile shouts before running after the figure that sprinted towards the doctor. I can't tell if they're man or woman, everything about them hidden, even their voice sounded robotic. With Emile taking off and me being vulnerable, the other figure comes up and grabs onto me in a tight hold. "What are you doing? Why are you doing this? Can't you people just leave us alone!" I yell and kick at the person that has me in a strong hold. "Just stop and shut up and this will all be over soon." The black figure replies back to me. I hear Emile yelp in pain, and I look over to see him fall to his knees. "Emile! Emile are you okay?!" I shout, but he just looks up at me, his face contorting in pain. I try to wiggle out of the hold i'm in to no avail. I'm so exhausted with all of this. I slowly close my eyes, remembering all the pain I've suffered and continue to deal with. I'll be damned before something happens to another one of my friends. The more I calm my racing thoughts, I start to feel this calm charge of energy abruptly flowing through my body, and I slowly open my eyes. EMILE I tackle the figure who was struggling to get the bag from Dr Morris' grasp, and we both fall to the ground. I jump back to my feet, fists up in front of me. Slow and steady Emile, slow and steady I tell myself, preparing for the first blow from this inhuman. They're werewolves too, I can smell it all over them. The dark figure goes to swing, and I duck my head and swipe my feet under their's, knocking them back on their ass. I wait for them to get up, when the figure just stays there and starts laughing "What's so funny?" I ask them, and they just continue to laugh, pissing me off. "You won't be leaving this room, that's what's funny." The person quickly swipes their hands toward me in a quick motion, and I feel the prick of something in my leg that causes me to yelp in agony. I immediately drop to my side on the floor and hold my leg, hearing Karielle shout at me. I look up at her, my face surely showing the pain that I feel. I see the worry in her eyes as she watches me. "That will kill you slowly and painfully, your mother sends her goodbyes." The figure chuckles, taunting me. My mother, I should have known. She is even more disgusting than I thought. I look back up to Karielle to see her eyes closed, and I could see the calmness of her features. Has she given up? I wonder, Until I start to feel the subtle gust of wind slowly picking up in the room. Oh s**t I say to myself, before Karielle slowly opens her eyes to that familiar brightly glowing purple.
