Fair warning

1308 Words
I hear the commotion of someone struggling on the stairs, then voices and silence. Fidgeting with my fingernails has never been my favorite, but it's become a habit of mine when my nerves are on high drive. I can't get up or see past the wall that leads to the stairs, thanks to these heavy chains, so I keep listening quietly. I hear a male voice, and then 2 sets of footsteps start making their way down, and I'm anticipating something bad. All I can think of is if Hera is okay. I cover my eyes when I hear their footing coming closer, and then it stops. I move my hands from my eyes to see a guy with dark hair and brown eyes, muscular stature but short. Next to him, is none other than Hera, and I start to see a resemblance between the 2. "What's going on Hera?" I ask, and wait for her to answer while I stare at the both of them. "Karielle, I want you to meet my brother, Mylo. He's been away for awhile, and now he's back early. Emile sent him." I furrow my brows at her answer, I didn't know Hera had a brother, and I'm more confused to the fact of what the issue is for him to have to come back here early if hes supposed to be away. "Emile sent him to warn us, there was a problem at the Bloodstar pack, and they are headed back home as we speak, thankfully, we have already finished and have nothing to worry about. Yet." Hera informs me, and I wonder what could have went wrong for them to come back the same night of the day they left. "Moon Goddess, Hera, The scroll!" I start panicking and mouthing off all the what-if's, my anxiety taking over. "Kari, calm down, she will never know who did this. You're chained remember? Luna Margaret nor Alpha Christian even know we're affiliated with Emile, so we have nothing to worry about for now." Well that's a relief, but I wonder what will happen when the Luna notices her box is gone. I guess there is only one way to find out, and that's the waiting game. EMILE When Alpha Daxton told me that I looked like someone he knew, my heart dropped to my feet, and I have no idea why. Not only did I feel a shock when we shook hands after we arrived to the cafeteria of the castle, my mothers actions and his words do not add up, but there's definitely something going on that I don't know about. I wonder what else my mother has to hide? I have to be able to get to this Alpha, and have a conversation with him. I need to find out more about this guy, there's a reason my mother was so pale and unnerving while at dinner with the King and Queen. After the new Alpha's words, my mother said she started to feel sick while sweating and looking like she was going to pass out. We had to abruptly end our visit so she could go home to "rest". Yeah right, my mother never makes any decisions without reasoning behind it, and I suspect theres something behind this too. My father addressed the King and Queen to apologize for my mother's abrupt misgivings. "Your Majesties, it seems my wife may have suddenly fell ill, I think it best we head back home and figure out what's wrong with her. I apologize, My King and Queen. We shall start this visit another time, hopefully at your welcome after tonight." My father says to His Majesty. "No worries Alpha Christian, we can always reschedule for another day. I apologize your son didn't have much to look forward to in seeking his other half. Luna Margaret, I hope you get to feeling better, I send you with our well wishes. I'll have my beta call your car." Sebastian has a blank look on his face, and at that moment I know he has some kind of suspicion towards my mother, as I'm sure he noticed the same things that I did. Now, the question is, What is behind this whole scenario? I call my best friend, Mylo, in which my mother nor father know about. I inform him that I need a favor, and for him to go warn his sister we are headed home. I told Hera I wanted her to get Karielle out of her cell and go looking for any information they could find while we're away. I also told her about the satchets of the sleeping spell, where to find them, and which guards carry the keys. That way, they have at least a little uninterrupted time to find out any information that can help us in our endeavors against my mother, we need to figure out her motive. All I know is she wants to use Karielle for power, I don't even understand how she knows Karielle will have power, let alone be able to take it from her. After all, she is only 15 years old, not even of age to gain her wolf let alone any type of powers. It has to have something to do with her bloodline, I mean, my Mother didn't tell me who her parents were for a reason. Once our car pulls up out front, We give Sebastian and Moira our goodbyes while the omegas load our luggage into the back of the SUV. I hop in the 3rd row seating, while my mother and father get in to the front of me. The whole cab is quiet while we drive away, headed back our territory. My father decides to speak up, breaking the silence. "Marge, what the hell was that back there? I've never saw you act that way, let alone want to leave in the middle of an important visit." My mother sits there not saying anything for a good five minutes. "What ever do you mean? I think it was something I ate, and I didn't want to spoil our visit or become a burden during our stay there. I still am not feeling too well, so please let me sit in peace." My mother replies in an irritated tone, not wanting to be questioned any further. We drive the rest of the way in silence, my mind drifting to my mate, and wondering what shes up to in this moment in time. She knows about what's going on, and vouched to help us in our quest to stop my mother, and to figure out the reasoning, plus the background that Karielle desires and the questions we've all been needing answers to. We arrive back at Midnight territory, and my mother doesn't even wait for the omegas to come out and greet her. She scurries out of the vehicle and into the packhouse. Yeah, there's definitely something going on with her. She's been spooked, or maybe something she has done has finally came back to bite her. While my father and I start to get out of the SUV, we hear a loud angry scream coming from the top floor of the building. "Oh, shitballs, something's wrong." My father says, and hurries into the packhouse with me following close behind. We leave the omegas to grab our things, and rush to find out the meaning behind the scream. We arrive to my mother and father's chambers, to see my mother fuming, almost with tears in her eyes. "Christian, its gone, its gone, my mother's ashes, they're gone!" She screams to my father, and he rushes to bring her into his embrace. "Marge, we will find them, I swear it!" he promises her, and right at this moment I know, is when s**t starts to hit the fan.
