Intervention

Kyle's P.O.V Sophie was such a sweet girl, not to mention beautiful, with an enchanting personality, the visuals of a model and everything a man could ask for. however, I didn't feel the connection one should feel with a mate. Not that I know anything about it, since I've never had one before, but I've heard mated wolves talk about it. One should feel the need to see her, smell her and protect her all the time. With her I always had such a great time, but the only need I felt was to keep smelling that vanilla scent I could faintly sense on her. It was like spending time with my sister, a sister that smells really good, the only problem was that you weren't supposed to kiss your sister. kissing Sophie didn't feel quite wrong, but it didn't feel right either. And she liked doing a lot of that. Lucas and Oliver were over the moon with the news of a prospective Luna. They were always finding ways to come up with romantic plans for us, or including Sophie in our plans. I didn't have a problem with that. I really liked Sophie, just not like that. I think. "Ok, K. Spit it out! you're driving us nuts man." Exploded Oliver one day. "What?" I said playing dumb. "Come on bro. You know what!" He kept pushing. "What Oliver means is that you've been out of it the whole time we've been here, Kyle. We're just worried about you." Lucas intervened. "Oh that." I told them. "Yes, that. So out with it!" Oliver was annoyed by now. "Oliver, stop it! Look man, at first we thought that you were still mad at your father; but after you met Sophie we thought you were going to get over that and be happy with her. However, it seems to have gotten worse. You don't talk to us anymore, and you don't seem happy to have found your mate either. Yes, you're good to her and everything, but we know you. This is not you. So, can you please talk to your best friends and tell us what's wrong?" Lucas always had a way with words. "That's just the problem. I don't know what's wrong. I just know something is. What I mean is that, yes, I like Sophie and she smells like something I've never smelled before, but I don't really feel the bond. I mean, I do when I smell that scent on her, but it's so faint sometimes I think I'm imagining things. ugh! I don't know. Could it be because she's human?" I desperately asked them. "What about Kai? What does he feel?" Asked Oliver. "He feels the same way, but he's even more drawn to that scent of hers." I stated. "I don't know, man. Maybe you should probably call you father, or talk to the elders. They should know what this is." Offered Lucas. "That's exactly what I'm doing as soon as we get home. I can't wait to finally leave this place!" I told them. "You got that right, bro! But you might wanna do better with Sophie. What if she's really your mate and you regret all of this later?" Said Oliver. "And that's the first sensible thing you've said since... forever! hahaha. I will do that. Don't wanna lose my Luna just because I'm too weak to feel the bond. Starting tomorrow, I will be the best boyfriend for her." I answered. And so I was. I didn't doubt she was my mate again, and I treated her as such. Showering with gifts, sweet nothings, romantic dates and so on for the rest of the camp even though deep inside of me, my wolf and I felt something was still wrong. On our las day at the camp. We decided to have a picnic together to commemorate our time at the camp. That's what we told Sophie anyways. The truth is that we didn't want to be with so many humans saying goodbye to one another and all of that. "Hey K. What about a party?" Asked Oliver. "A party? What for?" I asked him back. "Why of course to celebrate your relationship with Sophie and the end of vacation!" excitedly stated Oliver. "Don't listen to him Kyle. He just wants a excuse to drink and party for free." Lucas intervened. "Oh, but that sounds great!" Sophie said. "Really? Would you like that?" I asked her. "Yes, that way you can finally meet my best friend Emma and we can have some time together before we get separated. It's so sad we don't go to the same school." She told me. "We didn't go to the same school." Ugh that stupid Oliver and his big mouth! "What do you mean Oli?" Asked him Sophie. "Oliver I will kill you!" I said and he looked away. "It was supposed to be a surprise, but here goes nothing... We will be attending your school starting tomorrow." I confessed. The truth is that if she's my mate, I need to be near her to be able to protect her and my future Beta and Gamma needed to protect me, so that's that. "Oh my God! Are you for real? This is the best surprise ever! I can't wait for you all to meet Emma. You're gonna love her! And the school is the best! I am so excited I can't even!" She was literally jumping around talking about all the things she wanted us to know about her school. I must admit her excitement was a bit contagious. When we finally got home, the first thing on my mind was to talk to the elders, but my mother Anna wanted to hear everything about my first camp. She came running as soon as I set foot in the house. She was the most beautiful woman on earth. She was petite, light skinned, mud brown hair, and a face that could fit in one of my hands. She was perfect, but of course I would think that. She was my mother after all. Her only defect was that she was very nosy. "My baby boy is back! Please tell me everything! Did you have fun? Did you meet a lot of friends? How was it to be around so many humans? plea..." "Mom, I just got home!" I complained. "Oh, c'mon! You know I always want to know these things!" She retorted. "Haha. Ok. Ok. I'll tell you. Yes, I had fun. No, I didn't meet a lot of friends. I went with my friends, remember? And it was boring playing human. Happy?" At that moment, I knew my mother knew I didn't tell her everything. s**t! she knew me so well. "That's great, thanks baby. Now, what aren't you telling me?" She caught on. I sighted. "I think I found my mate, mom." "You think?" Asked my father.
