chapter 5

Nikki-  

today's my birthday!

     a week ago i was kicked out and living in a old grain bin. Today i just got my first job and i moved from the freezing grain bin to a little shed behind my work.  Nobody knows i'm sleeping in there. they cant or they might fire me! i have no where to go and not enough money for a place to stay, so this will have to work at least for now. 

        Did i mention its my birthday? well for my birthday i bought a slice of cake from the restaurant i work at with the tip money i made.  i found some old used candles in the back of the restaurant under what i could swear was an inch of dust,  but it was enough to make a wish.     

         That night when i blown out my candles alone and exhausted in the door way i wished for love not just any love though. The love that makes you see the world totally different. as  i looked up in my little doorway  of my shed i saw a shooting star. 

    inside my head a voice said "your wish will be answered soon."

     i devoured my cake it was the only meal i was able to have in the last 2 days i returned to my spot i slept using my bag as my pillow and a sweater as a blanket i drifted off into a cold restless sleep once again.
