CHAPTER FIVE
"My life is in shambles. I can't understand why the Goddess would despise me this much. First, my mate rejects me, and now Davies, the only one I relied on in the pack, humiliates me." I sat by a tree in the woods, feeling lost and unsure of my next move. My head throbbed as the scenes and hurtful words replayed over and over in my mind. As night fell, I made my way home, feeling devastated and weary of life. Collapsing onto my tattered bed, I drifted into a fitful sleep after some time. ••••••••••••••••• At five in the morning, I woke up feeling a bit better and quickly headed to the bathroom to get ready. I wanted to steer clear of any drama with Natasha before starting my duties at the pack kitchen. After a tiring shift in the kitchen, Nikita stormed in, her eyes blazing with anger as usual. Without a word, she flung a handful of bills at me, "Go to the supermarket and get what I need," she spat. With a sense of relief, I took the money and shopping list, making my way to the supermarket, hoping to steer clear of any more trouble with Nikita. On my way back to the pack house, i noticed that there were fewer people around than usual. When I arrived at the pack house, to my surprise, it was empty. There wasn't a single person moving around, and it seemed as if everyone had vanished, not even children were playing. The fact that it was the weekend and most people would be at home, including parents and children, heightened my concern. I noticed a shadow closing in on mine, I spun around only to be met by the gaze of an elderly woman. "Why are you here when you should be at the hall?" She asked, furrowing her brow, and I stared at her, perplexed, not understanding her question. "The hall? Are we celebrating something?" I asked her, puzzled. There was no way a celebration would be going on, and I wouldn't have heard about it in one way or another. "You didn't know? Today is the wedding of Davies, and the Alpha has ordered everyone to be at the hall," she announced. I dropped the bag I was holding as I froze, staring at her in disbelief. I couldn't understand why she was even talking to me in the first place, considering I rarely get spoken to. I couldn't shake off the feeling that there was more to her telling me this than meets the eye. The Alpha's son, Davies Hobbs, is getting married today, and everyone has gathered at the hall awaiting the commencement of the ceremony. I chuckled, thinking she must be mistaken. Davies was with me last night, I even met him at his place, and he never mentioned anything about a wedding. Davies wouldn't hide anything from me. I couldn't bear to hear any more from her. I ran towards the hall, and as I reached the entrance, the sounds of music and voices emanating from inside grew louder. My heart raced, and I froze for a moment before pushing the door open. Each step into the hall felt heavier than the last, my heart breaking with every beat. I couldn't believe Davies would treat me like this. It was hard for my heart to process everything. Despite being an Omega, I had always loved Davies, and he had always stood up for me. But I couldn't believe he could do this after professing his love for me. Unable to bear the sight of Davies getting married, I let out a scream, drawing everyone's attention. The disdainful looks from the crowd were nothing new to me. As the guards moved to remove me for disturbing, Davies raised his hands, and they stopped in their tracks. Davies approached me, his expression devoid of emotion, while inside, I was dying. Standing before me, he assessed me from head to toe, his bride by his side. "Bow!" One of the guards bellowed, pushing me to my knees with force. "What's happening here?" I managed to ask Davies, my voice breaking amidst the tumult of emotions within me. "What gives you the audacity to question me, Omega?" he spat, his eyes flashing red. "I wonder what I've been thinking all this time to mingle with a low-life Omega like you," he said, devoid of any remorse. His words drained the last bit of life from me. It felt like I was trapped in a nightmare. Davies, who had always been friendly and protective of me, had transformed into a monster before my eyes. Desperately trying to salvage the situation, I stammered, "B-but we were together two nights ago. You said you loved me and had always been in love with me. What changed?" "Because I wanted to humiliate you. A public humiliation like this is what a low-life good-for-nothing like you deserves," he taunted, gesturing at the guards, who promptly bundled me up and flung me outside the hall. Brimming with tears and weighed down by heartbreak, I fled the hall and went home, unable to endure the agony any further. I swiftly gathered my belongings into my small bag before anyone could return and discover me, grabbing only a few necessary items. With my small bag strapped behind me, I stepped out of the house. I had always known I wasn't wanted, despised even, but I never imagined that the one person who had always stood up for me would be so cruel as to humiliate me openly. It was always about bad luck, not a curse. Finding my mate was supposed to fix everything, but now it feels like it was all just a dream. But now, I know it's a curse. I don't know where I was going but I was running away. Running away from hell, tears streaming down my face, I had no destination in mind. It felt as though someone was squeezing my heart, suffocating me with every step I took. Wiping away my tears, I crossed the border of my pack. Survival became my sole focus. As I wandered into the woods, my mind raced with thoughts of where to go next. Without a referral letter from my Alpha, no pack would consider accepting me as a member. I trudged through the woods, feeling empty. It had been over a month since I left my pack. With nowhere else to go, I decided to head to a nearby town ready to accept whatever awaited me there. As the evening approached, I headed towards a nearby town. Lost in my thoughts, I narrowly avoided colliding with a car that swerved to avoid hitting me. A man emerged from the car and dashed toward me, his face twisted with anger. "Are you out of your mind?" he sceeamed. However, upon seeing my fragile state, his anger softened. "Are you okay, young lady? I nearly ran you over." I still didn't Observing my bags strapped behind me, he inquired, "You seem to be on a journey. Where are you headed?" "I have no destination. I fled my pack because that place is a living hell, and everyone wants me gone." "I'm sorry you had to go through that," he said sympathetically. "So, how do you plan to survive?" I shrugged, admitting that I hadn't figured that out yet. This is the silver line pack. We are welcoming as long as you don't pose yourself as a threat. You can stay here as long as you want, and no one would notice you." After a brief pause, he offered, "If you're okay with it, you can stay with me for a while until you figure out your next steps." His offer felt like fireworks going off in my head, and my heart leapt for joy, and I felt the goddess had not abandoned me; she was behind me all along "Enter the car," he said as he opened the door, and he drove to a restaurant. He ordered food and said, "Eat. I'll give you a place to stay tonight, and then you can figure out how to survive from tomorrow." I picked up the spoon and began to eat, but suddenly I felt the urge to vomit. I hurried to the restroom to vomit, returning to my seat to find him watching me with concern. "Give me your left arm," he ordered, and I complied, resisting the urge to ask why. He scrutinized my hand for a moment before glancing at me suspiciously, then back at my hand. I arched an eyebrow, silently questioning his actions. "It seems to me you're pregnant," he finally said, his words sending a shockwave through me.
