SARA'S POV After I heard what Alpha Adrian was thinking, I looked at him with pride and I smiled. Never have I felt much in love with someone in my existence. I responded loudly and I said mate to him in assurance that he would reciprocate it to me. But he relaxed himself and looked at me sternly. I was a little bit confused. And he said the most humiliating words that any one would never want to hear. “I, Alpha Adrian Ascent of the Crescent Wolf Pack, hereby reject you, Sara Moonstone as my mate.” Immediately he said this, I was stunned and the entire pack was filled with uproar. Everyone had thought that with the sign that I showed, Alpha Adrian would claim me as my mate. It was most shocking to me too. How could he do this to me? I am only a few days to my eighteen year birthday and this is not what he promised me. “What were you thinking will happen, you sniveling rat?” My own sister hissed as she gloated at me. She looked at me with certainly no show of sisterly emotion at all as she moved closer to Alpha Adrian. Alpha Adrian proceeded to put his arms around her waist. “How could you, Sara, think a whole Alpha will want you as his mate? You are just an omega and you have no wolf at all. Of what benefit will you be to the Alpha asides cooking and cleaning? You do not even have a wolf, not to talk of a weak one. And you expect the Alpha of the mighty Crescent Wolf pack to have you as his mate? You really must be dreaming” Kate Cobbs, my younger sister jested at me. Kate has always been cunning and deceitful, but I never knew that she would go behind my back to even do this to me. Now, it was a question of who the Alpha will choose to be his mate. But it was not far fetched from the drama that is already unfolding before our midst in front of the whole pack. Katie kissed Alpha Adrian on the cheek as he announced to us all. “I have chosen my mate and your Luna for this pack and it is no other person but the gorgeous Kate Cobbs.” Alpha Adrian announced and the entire pack howled in excitement. I was left alone, ashamed and humiliated. I never thought that I could have been more humiliated than this day. But can you blame me? All my life has been a series of bad luck, while my younger sister has been lucky all her life. It can only get worse for me from here. My name is Sara Moonstone and you might be wondering how I am an omega and my sister is not like me. I guess there's a need for a backstory. My father, Silas Moonstone was an omega and not even an original member of the Crescent Wolf pack. We moved away when my mother died and we travelled to make our settlement in Crescent Wolf pack when I was just two years old. My step mother, who is the Beta of Crescent Wolf pack, Beta Linda fell in love with my father immediately and made him her mate. But that did not mean that Beta Linda fell in love with me. My father had no other option than to respond to being her mate. He was already an omega and he has an opportunity to be accepted into the Crescent Wolf pack with Beta Linda's influence. After performing their mating ritual, we moved in with Beta Linda and her two year old daughter, Katie. I was already three years old at that time. However, since then I have faced a lot of difficulties. I was never treated well, and my father was always a weak wolf who would dare not step up to his mate because she always reminded him of how pathetic he was before she married him. Beta Linda did not let the pack members cut me some slack because I am her stepdaughter. Instead, she gave me extra chores and let the entire pack burden me with activities. I was scorned and was almost shunned by the pack. It was on one such occasion that I met with Alpha Adrian three years ago. That meeting will transform my entire sad story of a life… or so I thought. Three years ago… When Alpha Adrian rose to the rank of being the Alpha of the Crescent Wolf pack, he was so temperamental and angry. If any wolf vexed him, he would immediately turn to his wolf and kill the wolf straight away. His anger is because it is customary for the new Alpha to execute the old Alpha in a battle. So, the former Alpha, Alpha Damon, who was Adrian's father, was killed by his own son. I think he was really affected by it and since it was a sign of weakness for any Alpha to show remorse or sadness, Adrian had to turn to aggression. So, the Beta would send any omega that was the most worthless to the pack to clean Alpha Adrian's room or to attend to his needs. So far, within two months, over six omegas have been killed. Everyone was so scared and wanted to do right by Beta Linda so that they will not be the next victim. And when there was no longer any omega that she did not particularly like, she looked at me. I knew that I was the next in line to die. I still remember Kate's taunt. She has always wanted to be the only child again, and this is the best way for it to happen. I remember begging my father to do something about this situation, but he was almost handicapped too. He tried talking to his mate, but one look from Beta Linda made him cower in fear. Father was a huge disappointment to me and I hated him for what he has done. The only consolation I had at that time was my wolf. “Don't worry cat, I will protect you.” Meggy, my wolf said to me as I walked to his room that evening. No one knew about my wolf at all. I realised my wolf at age fourteen but I had not revealed her to anyone at all. Not even my father. She is a very large and purely white wolf with a crescent shaped birthmark on my right eye. I never revealed my wolf to anyone because I remember seeing a big white wolf appearing in my dreams every night for the first ten years of my life warning me to never reveal my wolf. The pure white wolf was always gentle and I strangely felt the love of a mother around her when she visited me. I think she is my guardian wolf. She might be my mother's wolf. “Sara, you are very special and there is something special about your wolf. You are never to reveal her to anyone else until the appointed time.” She always said it gently to me. “When is the appointed time going to be?” I would always ask. “Is it when I am no longer a teen wolf and mated?” I would insist. “You will know when you are ready. You are the key to saving the entire pack from the sky-people.” She will also say and fade away as I wake up. I never understood it. My father was a very ordinary wolf and he never really talked about my mother. Anytime I asked him, he would just say that she was nothing special, but he loved her still. Like a fool, I choose to believe the big white wolf and never reveal my wolf to anyone. But the day I met Alpha Adrian in his room, everything changed for me.
