Rick heard his bookstore email chime. He opened and read it, smiled, and answered. Then he’d gone back to his desk. But now, he found himself watching the clock and grinning maniacally, willing it to move faster. After about twenty-five minutes Rick could no longer contain himself and made for the lift. He arrived at Book Keepers’ front door almost as Faith did. He turned the key and let her in. “Hi,” he said. Then framed her face and kissed her passionately. “Hi yourself,” she threw back, then rattled the bag. “Hungry?” “Famished,” he said. They returned to the lift and headed up, then into the kitchen. “So how are you home in the middle of a Tuesday?” he asked her as they unpacked the food. “Well...” Faith muttered, and filled him in. “Wow, that sucks,” he commiserated. “Truly,”
