O POV

"Thank you." R handed me a towel and stood back leaning against the door of his car. "For getting me out of there."

"You are welcome. Although all I did was bring a towel and car."

The car ride was silent, I'd been trying to find the courage to tell him what had happened, what they'd done to Luna, but every time I opened my mouth there was nothing.

"It's okay Omega. I know." I turned away from the window, his face full of composure. Was he angry? Was he sad?

Wait, had he just read my mind?

"How do you know? What do you know?" His fingers drummed against the steering wheel, to no music but silence.

"I know that they killed her, that they toke Lan and that Kai isn't okay. I know what I need to know and nothing more." My heart hurt, he'd given her that name the day she was born I'd picked out Kai's name but I'd never found a name for Kallanii until he told me of an ancestor that turned into a vampire after giving birth in order to survive, her name was Kallanii. He said she was the strongest vampire they'd ever had, she was the first. And Kallanii was my first daughter, it for her so well. I don't think he expected me to name her after someone I didn't even know but he never argued it, instead he gave her the nickname and called her only by that.

"How do you know though?! Can you read my mind?!" R laughed.

"Now what if I can? Does that mean we can't be friend's anymore?" I wasn't used to this side of him, was he joking? I was only accustomed to the R that was all business.

"I. Y. No." He laughed again.

"It's okay I can't read people's thoughts, your secrets are safe. After Luna told me that you'd be travelling here I decieded to send a few to follow and only intercept if something went wrong."

"Wait. You had men there and they didn't even try to stop them from killing her or k********g my kid's? What sad their job, to sit there and look pretty from behind the scenes?!" Well f**k me, here I was making another mistake trusting someone I probably shouldn't.

"Omega every man that was watching over the house were killed and burned. We had one survive who followed you to that massive palace yous have." I'd been slapped in the face yet again, more blood was on my hands. W as anyone going to survive this?

"It's not ours, it belongs to the alpha." I whispered turning back to the window.

"What exactly is the plan here, I'm guessing you have about a day before they realize you had help from a vampire. What do you think happens when they realize you are half of one? Have you seriously thought about that? What it means for you, because you aren't like them, hell you aren't even like me. You are something that has never existed."

"What are you saying that already knew and did this to keep my kid's away from me?!" I know Asher hated me, but he'd never do that he knew what it was like to live without a mum. He wouldn't, would he? God I don't even know anymore.

"No, I don't think the wolf's had anything to-do with this. They couldn't of known about those vampires watching no. Omega I need you to be calm, can you do that?"

"You know something don't you! Tell me!"

"The night." He pulled over to the side of the highway, at first he just at there looking out the front window.

"The night you stopped visiting Luna." He sighed.

"When I was on my way to pick her up I was followed, I managed to get rid of them. But something didn't seem right, my men finally found them and." He trailed of looking over at me.

"Later on that night I would learn they'd been following her for week's, that the hunters that killed her soulmate had followed her after and that they'd kept tabs on you following through the pregnancy, they knew I'd turned you. They knew everything about all of us. So I did the only thing I could think of and ended it, I had men watching over you twenty-four seven and everything was fine we killed them before they got close and you four lived a somewhat normal life like you wanted. Everything changed the day you got the email that your dad had past away."

"That's why you showed up."

"I thought if I could just tell you what was going on you'd know there was nowhere safer than in the protection of us."

"But she never gave you a chance." I answered, remembering how torn she was when he'd shown up after ignoring her for month's. It had almost broken her, until she did what Luna was good at, she forgot about her own problems and worried about mine. She helped me pack.

"Instead of helping, my showing up set in motion all of this." He was taking the blame on himself. Why? He owed us nothing, he'd already saved my life when he never had to.

"This isn't on you, so don't take the blame." He looked at me finally.

"How can you not blame me?"

"Because this mess all started with one action and one decision. It started long before you showed up in my life." It had started with a boy's actions and a girl's decision to leave, everything that followed was because of us. As much as I wanted to blame Asher for everything, I had some part to play in the blame. Instead of trying I ran, instead of being okay with my kid's having a step mum I freaked out.

No, this was in no way his fault, this was on us alone. We'd created the mess and let it get out of control.

"Why do you keep helping me?!" Why hadn't he just given up already, he'd already saved me once and now I find out s few time's, and yet here he was again. Why?

"Maybe I think your life is worth saving, is that okay?" My life?

"Why?"

"You aren't going to drop this are you!"

"No, I'm not."

"Because I've been alive for almost a eight hundred year's and I've never had child, the day I saved you. It felt like I had one. I finally had something I didn't want to die. I had three reasons to feel alive."

He turned back to the wheel and pulled back out on to the road.

"So do you want me to call you daddy? Because I don't think I can do that." He laughed shaking his head.

"My name is fine thanks." R? Was that even his name? Who looks at a kid and is like yes I shall name you R.

"So are you going to tell me what the R stands for?" He squinted his eye's at me as if thinking about it.

"Well this is a bit cute." I jumped in my chair, Luna was sitting in the back seat leaning between us in the front, thankfully he doesn't seem to take much notice of it.

"Hmmm, nope." I rolled my eye's.

"Of course not." He winked at me.

"I'm going to help you get them back."
