The contract

It’s been four days and I’ve still been avoiding Blake.He stopped coming home on the second day and didn’t call either.I’m disappointed that I actually let myself dream of having a blissful marriage with a jerk like him.

I’ve been keeping myself pre occupied with work and today was finally my last straw,I had bags under my eye which signifies my lack of sleep.

A knock came on the door and I replied come in while trying to make my appearance look more presentable.

A gasp escape my secretary’s lips as she took in my appearance.This isn’t okay what if you have guests looking for you ma’am she asked?

No no it’s fine I will get some sleep later why are you here?

We just got a call from King’s company today,we are being asked to come for the interview with our drafted proposal she replied with a chuckle.

Finally all our hard work is going to pay off I answered doing my victory dance.

The interview is today by 3pm, I have the copy of our proposal as well as the new beauty items in stock I will get them ready for us to leave soon she said.

It’s still 11;30 right now let’s drop by at my apartment for a quick lunch so I can get changed order some chicken and have it delivered to everyone in the office,it’s on the company today.

She left my office and I began preparing to leave for my old apartment.I’ve lived in the apartment since I turned eighteen and was old enough to move out of my parents.I just couldn’t abandon it since it felt like my home already,I come there after work everyday to have lunch and sleep a little while I work when I get to the mansion.

The apartment was my safe place so I kept most of my clothes there.Secretary Kim and I got to the apartment and I just let her do whatever she wants while I took a nap.

The Alarm went off signaling that its 1 pm already. I got up,took a bath and got dressed in trousers and a suit.I selected a bag and a black heels to match my white suit and trouser. I applied lip gloss and sprayed a vanilla perfume to complement my shampoo.

Call me crazy but I like having my things in harmony.

I ate a piece of chicken and had a cup of coffee.

Kim was busy booking a ride,we planned to get there early to get on their good side.The ride to the their company was a total of forty minutes from my apartment.The time was already on 2;15 by the time we were in front of the building.

Their office was often rumored to be the biggest one in the city but it turned out it wasn’t a rumor,it really was the biggest.It was located on the outskirts of the city making it possible to get that much land for an office building.The owner must be a really smart person or he is really rich with good connections all over the city.

The main office was a tall building with at least 35 floors,if it had more it would probably be referred to as a sky scraper.It was painted in white all through with glass as the windows such that a person in the office can easily glance outside and see the moving cars.It must be a wonderful sight to behold from the top floor I thought as I walked in.

Although the office was peaceful from outside it turns out that the inside was bubbly with life,there were so many people moving around holding files and there was a seat already filled up with guests probably waiting for their turns for the interview.I couldn’t help but thank GOD I left early.

I glanced at the receptionist and let out a smile as she smiled back at me.

Hi there I’m Lily Hart from Lush Beauty,we were called for a meeting today by 3pm I said as she typed away on her computer trying to confirm my appointment.

Welcome to Kings Company ma’am the president isn’t around but not to worry we’ve been given special orders from your company she replied.

Special orders by who I asked?

You must know someone from the higher up but sadly I don’t know who it is she answered giving me a copy of the proposal I submitted.

My dear sister you run a small company why are you here a voice called out attracting attention from those already seated.

I looked back to see Amy and I mentally rolled my eyes.

What’s up pregnant girl I asked with a taunting smile?”I haven’t seen you since your wedding so glad you are still alive darling she replied.”You don’t seem glad or would you rather prefer I disappear I asked?

I don’t care about what you do Lily so how about I cut you some slacks since we are both here for the contract?

No thank you Amy I would rather give up than to collaborate with you I answered back.

Hello I’m here for my meeting with your company it’s suppose to start by 4 Amy said to the receptionist.

Well it’s still about 3pm right now you need to wait for your turn the receptionist replied.

I took a seat with the people waiting in line while Amy got herself another seat entirely because she is that special.

I suddenly got tapped by another person,”Let’s go ma’am it’s your turn the voice said.

But it’s still says 2;45 I said stretching my wrist watch and I met all this people here too.

I don’t know how but it must be a special order she replied with a smile.

No I would rather wait until 3pm I answered back,not because I hate free thing but this might be a test and what happens if I fail.I could swear I didn’t know a single soul in this company.

She went in and came back out immediately with a frown.

I would like to move you to a more comfortable place on special orders please don’t refuse I might loose my job she pleaded.

No it’s fine I will come with you I said as I got up and signaled secretary Kim to do the same.

The other people started murmuring and I could see Amy and a few others glaring daggers at me as I walked into another office.

I heaved a sigh of relief as I realized we weren’t being kidnapped instead we were in a big compartment,we were offered coffee but I just let it sit on the table.There is no telling what these people are up to I thought.

My phone lit up with a text and I cursed myself for not blocking his number.

From Blake;Where are you?

He doesn’t text or comes home for four days and now he suddenly sends a text.That’s bulls.

I ignored the message and got busy with my products.

I needed to use the ladies room so I excused myself.When I finished with my business I went to wash my hands and I got a glimpse of a lady leaving.

My gut feeling told me it was the other woman but for some reason I didn’t believe it until it was time for my meeting.

Her face was plastered on every corner of the meeting room she was a model and maybe the owner.She probably had lot of shares in the company as it seem she was highly respected.

Did she give me special treatment because she was feeling guilty about being involved with my husband.I don’t know what this was about but I couldn’t wait to just get out of there.
