Alpha Matthias' POV:
By the time I got back to my office, Kelita was already there, waiting for me. It was almost six in the morning, and I’d been out all night.
My Beta walked with me to the door, gave a respectful bow, and left without a word.
The moment I stepped inside, Kelita was on me.
“Where have you been?” she asked.
I looked her over quickly, checking for any visible injuries before responding.
“Out. Go to bed, Kelita,” I said, pushing open the office door. Naturally, she followed right behind me.
“It’s been five days since the attack, Matthias! Five days! And you haven’t once checked in on me to see how I’m doing! I was attacked, but my mate, the one person who was supposed to make sure that didn’t happen, hasn’t even bothered to see if I’m okay!”
