Chapter 10 Product Launch Preparation

Today was Friday. Nathan and Sophia woke up early. They didn't go to the gym as today was the day of the product launch in the evening. Nathan cooked pancakes while Sophia cut the fruits and prepare the syrup. They went to work together, ignoring the curious glances of the employees. They both enter the executive elevator together.

Their own offices only separate them. Sophia was needed to the venue, but she decided to go to the office first. From Monday to Thursday, Dyson Ltd.Public Relations Department was busy coordinating the event. It is held in the Hotel Hilton Business Center area.

The launch would begin at seven in the evening today.

Inside the office, Director Hankey was sitting on her desk reading documents the Marketing Department sent over. There was suddenly a knock on the door.

"Come in."

Her assistant Eve walked over and said, "Director, Manager Jenkins of PR dept. called to say; that the preparations at the Hotel Hilton are almost done." "They asked if you would like to take a look."

"Mmm, tell them that I will be there right away."

Sophia closed the documents and put them in the folder, and got up. She put on her windbreaker and strides out of the door. Eve quickly followed and walked up to her. They walked through the corridor and wait for the elevator. She message Nathan. 

Sophia: "I will go over first to the hotel the PR Manager called; there seems to have a problem." 

Ting!  Nathan: "ok, be careful on your way :)

"Director earlier Manager Jenkins seemed to disagree with Director Moss; they probably want to get your opinion the PR goes along with your insights."

"If we're not for the new President taking office, Vice Pres. Reynolds wouldn't let Director Moss help out." 

"It means the PR Dept. is planning to do a welcoming party for Pres. Dyson? 

"Yes, Director." "I heard that the PR dept. was invited a few celebrities to join as well." 

"They're all the popular ambassadors of our company."

"Hannah Hankey seems like also is invited by the PR dept."

Sophia turned to Eve. 

What did you say? Hannah Hankey?

Eve nodded. "The PR dept. went looking for her, she would definitely agree." 

When they arrived at the Hotel Hilton, it was past six pm. In the evening. The center was closed for business that night to serve Dyson LTD. Everyone needed to have a company identification and a guest invitation to enter. And no reporter was allowed, the security was very tight guards, and bodyguards are scattered everywhere to ensure everyone's safety. 

The entire space was lively, and in the center was the stage. Inside the hall, thousands of people could fit into it. There are tables for desserts and drinks. One could see the busy staff of the hotel and Dyson Ltd. employees.

"Director Hankey! Manager Jenkins was waiting for you backstage, and he was looked uneasy." 

"What's wrong? 

"Director, it's best if you go and take a look." As Sophia approached, she heard the commotion... Manager Jenkins was arguing with Director Moss. 

"What's happening? she interrupts the two. 

Both of them stopped and looked at her.

 "Director Hankey, I want your opinion on... Manager Jenkins looks to Director Moss.

 "What is it? Sophia looked puzzled at the two of them. 

Director Moss saw Sophia and said, "There are reporters and media outside. I'm thinking of letting them in to add publicity as Dyson Ltd. will launch our products." But Manager Jenkins says it seemed inappropriate." 

"Wasn't it already agreed that no media and reporters allowed," Manager Jenkins answered? 

"This time, the company invited some celebrities. I think let's use this opportunity," Director Moss says. 

"We can't do it! At this event, President Dyson doesn't like media and reporters."

"Then let's compromise; President Dyson wants," Sophia said. 

"Yes! Director Hankey, that's what we should do." 

"Thank you for your opinion," Manager Jenkins said. 

Director Moss watches Sophia with gritted teeth. 

Sophia walked around the venue, checked the venue, and returned to the hall. Almost everyone else has arrived except for the important guests, the Vice Pres. and  Directors of other branches are also coming. 

Eve was panted as she rushed over."Director, the guests have all arrived; the event was about to begin."

"Let's go! they walked over to Vp Reynolds and Manager Jenkins. 

"Director Hankey, we are waiting for you."

"Let's take a seat."

What time does President Dyson arrive? 

They looked at the two empty seats. "He was the main highlight of the night, so he attracted a lot of attention," Vice  Pres. Jenkins said this. 

They heard the sounds of people joyful cheering at the entrance. There's a  popular celebrity coming in; she was followed by other celebrities when she saw Hannah wearing a simple and elegant white dress with a pearl necklace on her neck. She looked like an angel. Hannah had everyone's attention. Her gaze and smile made every man fall for her. If we're not for a fact, she had experienced it.

Sophia thought she would probably enter in such a breathtaking way. This charm that she could not possess. She suddenly realized why Josh abandons her and fall for Hannah. The artist walked on the red carpet while waving. Manager Jenkins and Director Moss greet the several guests. Some of the artists walked to Sophia's table and greeted everyone. 

"Hello! I'm Kate." She hurled her hand to Sophia, who smiled and nodded. Sophia shook her hand too. 

After Hannah greeted the several upper management of the company, she looked at Sophia's table. She was chatting to some Vice Pres. and pretended not to see her. The table Sophia seated was for all the important guests and partners with Dyson LTD. 

There was a faint smile on Hannah's face, and she stared at Sophia for a while. Apart from Pres. seat, there's another vacant seat. A piece of melodious music from a violin piece livened up the entire hall. 

Sophia felt her phone vibrated inside her pocket. She takes it out; she saw it was a text from Nathan.

She replied the text OK. After the music performance, the emcee announced another group of dancers to delay the President's arrival. The performance was beautiful; the PR dept was live up to their expectations; the crowd cheered and applauded. 

Vice President Reynolds went up to the stage and summarized the company's achievements and success. And the other products that are successfully introduced to the markets, like vacuum cleaners, are the first successful products sold in the US, the UK, and soon in Asia. Dyson Ltd. also has a foundation that helps and supports engineering education and charities. Dyson Ltd. also helps with medical and scientific research. The emcee announces another singing performance from a well-known singer. 

"Director Hankey's performance in this product launch was outstanding Chairman Dyson personally recommended you," Vice President Reynolds speak." 

"Director Moss also has an outstanding performance." "I wonder who was lucky this year for our anniversary celebration." "Chairman Dyson personally awarded and hand the merit to the outstanding employees every year."

Sophia has never rejected someone who asks for her help as long as she knows it. She was hardworking and diligent and did not let the company down. She was never late. She works early and does her job properly; that's why the previous Chairman promoted her not of her age but also to her company performance. Many people were unconvinced of Sophia's position because of her age, and Director Moss was one of them. 

The previous Chairman was taken some of Director Moss's projects and appoint Sophia. Having her projects snatched away, she disliked Sophia. Sophia never argues with her fellow officemates; instead, she offered help whatever necessary needed. 

She was always composed. She has the skills to compete with the senior staff. She's good at treating people under her care. She ignores the gossip as long as it won't affect the progress of their work. She always checked the documents carefully before forwarding them to her superior.
