Ben drove them to a secluded safe house on the outskirts of town. Sophia was grateful to be off the grid, but she knew it was only temporary.
As they settled in, Alex couldn't shake off the feeling that they were being watched. He set up cameras and traps, determined to protect Sophia.
But despite the precautions, Sophia felt a sense of unease. She knew Carlos wouldn't give up easily.
That night, as they lay in bed, Sophia clung to Alex, her heart racing. "What if they find us?" she whispered.
Alex held her close. "I won't let them hurt you, Sophia. I promise."

Alex sprang into action, his gun drawn. "Stay here," he whispered.

And then, they saw him. Carlos, standing in the shadows, a sly smile spreading across his face.
Carlos's smile grew wider as he saw Sophia. "Well, well, well. Look what we have here."
Alex stepped forward, his gun trained on Carlos. "You're not welcome here."
Carlos chuckled. "I think I am. You see, I've been watching you. I know all about your little love nest."
Sophia's heart raced as Carlos took a step closer. "You'll never take us alive," Alex growled.
But Carlos just laughed. "Oh, I don't want to kill you. At least, not yet. I want to play a little game first."
Sophia's eyes narrowed. "What kind of game?"
Carlos's grin grew wider. "A game of truth. You see, I know all about your past, Sophia. And I think it's time Alex knew too."
Sophia's heart sank. What did Carlos know? And how could she stop him from revealing her secrets?
Alex's eyes flicked to Sophia, confusion etched on his face. "What is he talking about?"
